gunnergoz
So now we have the perfect gun for those vacations in Jurassic Park, eh? What caliber is that thing anyway? Looks like about 30mm or so from the video. A true shoulder cannon.
Stalins Organ
The littler guys notice their lack of mass!!
Michael Emrys
What the hell would you do with a gun like that in the first place? I guess it would be useful for demolishing masonry buildings, but there are easier ways of doing that. I guess somebody just wanted to see how big a gun they make that is still (marginally) shootable. Michael
MickH
Pity they never showed the damage the impacting round caused.
Affentitten
I saw a clip a while back of some guys firing a Victorian era 2 bore (34mm) elephant gun. And this was a weapon designed to be fired from the shoulder in the field. Black powder too, so plenty of smoke to go along with the kick.
Michael Emrys
And then there was the punt gun, with a bore of 51 mm. Admittedly this was never intended to be shoulder fired. Michael

Michael That's cheating.Using a massive shotgun to take a flock of birds down
Michael Emrys
That's cheating.Using a massive shotgun to take a flock of birds down Oh, it was sheer murder, greed in action. Probably no worse than driving entire herds of buffalo off of cliffs though. Or shooting them from trains just to harvest their hides and leave the carcasses to rot. John Kettler
Lt Belenko, Wow! Anything else seems a waste of words. gunnergoz, If I think I'm going to encounter a Raptor, I want shell! MickH, Agreed! Affentitten, If bore=gauge, then a two bore would fire a lead ball weighing half a pound, for that's how shotgun gauges are figured. the gauge is how many lead balls it takes to make a pound. Michael Emrys and gautrek, They had one of those on the (misnamed) History Channel show Pawn Stars. A punt gun wasn't used on flying birds, but on whole flocks on the water. That's what a "sitting duck" is. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punt_gun Regards, John Kettler

Er, not always, John. Regrettably it gets more complicated than that. And this chart shows a 2 gauge that is 33.67 mm in bore...more or less what Affentiffen said. However, you are right that it would fire a shot weighing half a pound. Michael
