Can I create a new Target Reference Point (TRP)?

Recommended Posts

I have successfully moved a TRP that was preset in the setup phase of a battle (by clicking on it and then move it like other units are moved in setup phase.) Is it possible to create and set TRP:s in the setup phase also when there are not any TRP positioned by the scenario designer? How do I do that if so?

I wish scenario creators was more friendly when it comes to hand out TRPs. Both on the offensive and defensive among the first things the FO did (and still do) was to zero in on possible target areas. The longer time they can spend in the area the more places are zeroed.

So having 2-3 TRP for a Coy attack should be most welcome!

If it's a battle, just open it in the editor and add a TRP to the units. You might also need to go to the deployment screen also, but I'm not sure. If it's a campaign then you're out of luck.

Smart, I did not think of that. - Immediate payoff ! - because it was a battle where I wanted a TRP that caused me to ask in forum. And I did not started to play it then so I can play it with TRP when I play it.

BTW, you do know that if you plan a barrage during the setup phase then it acts as a TRP for all intensive purposes? The barrage will not have a waiting time (unless you manually set it) and you get the increased accuracy of a pre-planned barrage. This can be done in the setup phase of any battle with or without TRPs.

No need to play grammar teacher Jon. :) While All intensive purposes is a misconstruction of the original phrase, you still understood the meaning and it is easier to say. That's what really matters in communication, which all intensive purposes surely gets it's point across.

Young man, do you want to be sent to the principal's office?

Ahh, but when speaking of artillery barrages, is not "intensive purposes" a very descriptive phrase? It certainly means something different than "harassing purposes", or "smoke screen purposes". Indeed, when I order steel death to rain upon my foe, I frequently do so with quite an intensive purpose myself!

I'm sure there are technical limitations that prevent it from occurring, but what should really happen (based on actual period artillery procedure as I understand it) is that once a mission has gone FFE, a new TRP should appear at the spot, allowing quick follow-on barrages on the same target.

Yes I know this and have used it. It may be valuable I think.
