For somewhat reason Youtube failed to process to 1080p. I am reuploading it and will then post a renewed link here.

A playthrough of the CMSF 2 Demo "Alama" scenario featuring German Bundeswehr forces.
I am almost only utilizing the interface for issuing orders (except for mandatory hotkeys like SHIFT+"Target Arc") so this is also suitable as a learning resource for new players to get an idea how one possible approach to Combat Mission overall could look like and how to achieve total victory in this scenario.

Years ago when I made my initial purchase of CMANO when it was on sale I was somewhat frustrated because it was micromanaging hell for me and the missions/functions that were supposed to reduce that problem often didn´t worked out like I intended or were a huge time sink on their own.
But with the years they´ve kept patching and adding more intelligent features and especially sophisticated AI functions/routines that I meanwhile changed my opinion and really enjoy the hell out of it without the need to manage every asset, no matter if bigger or moderate scenarios.
Immersion was always a big problem for me also because that pragmatic windows interface. It may look not different from software at use in the real military but from a gamer´s standpoint it can be hard to immerse itself when confronted with such an interface. I´ve learned to get used to it and especially those free seperate addons/mods that add pictures to the assets helped a lot, and I even proceeded to include my own asset pictures and high res map overlays from Google or other Services that even let you see the real life facilities, airports, or harbours that you may use or even attack in a scenario (which is a scary thing to tell I know but it adds an unbelieveable amount to immersion). Also love their realistic what if scenarios that they´re selling as DLC.
You can play it also with this "decide as it were real and if I am were responsible for real soldiers, sailors, and airmen here" attitude I am also enjoying when playing Combat Mission games (altough the psychological and moral simulation of CM is not represented in CMANO and abstracted due to the scope). Don´t know why but excercising this "real responsibilty" is a very important challenge/roleplay aspect for me when playing wargames.
It requires to understand all aspects of post ww2 modern warfare except land based operations and COIN which is underrepresented for a good reason. Thus you need to especially understand how guided weapons, air combat, naval surface and subsurface combat work and what weapon and active/passive sensor systems are deployed, and how they are countered. If you understand this and invest some time into understanding the vast functions that come with that software you may have the best simulator in your hand in this regard (and yes I owned and played all alternatives like H3, Fleet Command, etc.)
Would like to get eyes on the GOV version of it and how different it is out of curiosity.

Yes, playing a 3 day battle using one minute turns would make gamers fall asleep   Despite this time compression, I think CMSF2 and the other newer CM games are a great gaming experience.

    Definitely.
One crew may aquire and kill a target in matter of seconds the other may struggle to do so. So many circumstances, you never know.
Also you´re probably right with the asumption that operations in CM play out fast. Some of the scenarios you´re playing would in real life not take hours but probably days and also the casualties rates in many CM sorties weren´t acceptable at all for many real commanders. I think this is a welcome abstraction for us gamers. Still CM is the closest to the real thing when it comes to ground ops.

I somewhat disagree. While I do believe that PR should never respond to every little complaint (it would take a lifetime), I think a general update would do them well. And, while some would definitely be annoyed with the delay, I would think that most reasonable people would understand the process and accept it. BF's ultimate goal shouldn't be about ending these silly arguments. Rather, their focus should be on heightening the quality of their brand image and their communication with the consumer.

maybe i worded it wrong. what i was meaning to say was this.
BF are hard at work, i assume, trying to complete the game, in order that it may become available for them to sell to us for profit.
Whilst carrying out that work, you notice that there are disgruntled posts on the forum about finnish dates, lack of communication etc.
    do you :-
    a) take 5 minutes out of your work to post a reassuring explanation, keep your customers happy and onside, and get back to work?
    or
    b) completely ignore any posts and let  customers argue back and fore against or in support of BF?

both options could, i have no basis on that your correct, affect sales and your business PR. Option a) can surely only have a positive outcome, whilst that of b) is negative.
Is it worth 5 minutes of time to give your business a positive boost? I would say yes.

p.s i took 5 mins out of my day to post this

    I don't want to get into a tit-for-tat argument.
Maybe i am missing something obvious, if so excuse me, but i can see no mention of a release date on the store page
re-read my post a few times, and i still can't see where i said that either.

My gripe is simply down to what i believe is piss poor customer communication for a $120.00 (discounted mind!) full game. No other issues
