  1. I think "Texture" governs how many variations in uniforms and other such numbered visual effects .bmp's. The "Model" setting will expand your visual bubble which you may have noticed as being to see nearby tiles with more clarity than farther ones. This bubble can vary between 80-300+ meters (5-10+ AS).

There are a few threads offering more detail under "NVIDIA" which I can't find at the moment... 😒

  2. Back before this age of corporate welfare, copyright protected the creator for a reasonable period of time. Our culture didn't need permission for expression... now it serves corporate interests to lock that down.

    Apologies, a pet peeve.

On topic: As long as it's not being sold without first securing a license from BFC - user generated content has been, and still is, tolerated if not encouraged.

BTW, merely attempting to contact rights holder does not mean it's OK to distribute without a formal grant. You need the copyright holder to expressly grant you the "right".

It very important to society that our culture becomes one of asking for "permission" to a particular "gatekeeper". Otherwise, we run the risk of enriching society without applying a corporate "tax" (sorry - I'll stop).

What happens when you order a hunt then slow then hunt then slow... type arrangement.  Does the first hunt that triggers clear the rest of the orders?

Yes. Mixing Move/Quick/Fast/etc with Hunt will make your guys cancel the remainder of way points after the point where Hunt stops them...

@Lethaface mentioned a common way of simulating fire and movement in short bounds.

Hunt is effectively the old Move-to-Contact.

I'm still waiting for a movement command that prioritizes shooting over movement. Really redoing the Hunt command do be that would be more accurate to its name while adding back in Move-to-Contact would be much clearer for what Hunt actually is.

Would you you place self preservation among the move/fire pecking order. It's not like the pixeltruppen have your god's eye of the battlefield.

Obviously, one should be able to hear the tank.  This is the problem with ambushes when the inf unit is on the other side of a wall from a tank and the inf won't react to anything it can't see regardless of noise.

Yes, then we'd complain that they spring an ambush without a solid target. Friendly fire much?

  6. I had 5 of 6 Javelins miss in this very manner in an ongoing H2H against the *same* hulldown immobilized T90. We patched mid game and decided to look at it more closely afterwards. Javelin strikes elsewhere were 'normal'. The misses just kept going off map instead on angling down to strike.

That T90 not only soaked up a platoon's worth of ATGMs but also rendered three Abrams combat ineffective. They kept missing while receiving return fire from partial and full hulldown positions themselves.

Again, direct AT and ATGM fires elsewhere were 'normal'.

In any event, my opponent @George MC, showed great restraint in not commenting about it after a few exchanges once he noticed my tears...

I still well up thinking about it. (wiping eyes)

Anyhow, stuff happens and it's good to see a lone immobilized T90 tear a strip off an infantry AND tank platoon. They make movies about this sort of thing - don't they? In Russia anyways...?

I just visited and it did use https. I did see, on some pages, a warning that some images were not severed up via https. The log in page was warning free as was my account and orders page as well as the cart.

    Nothing serious.

It's more lazy then anything else. It's not like your content (HTML/JPG/etc.) needs to be modified. It's more a matter of opening a port and sending traffic over HTTPS (aka network layer).

Anyhow, no one seems to be in hurry to fix it. Chrome was the first to nag about in 2018. I think every other browser now does it too to "encourage" a more "secure" internet. Again, it's a 'network' rather than a 'content' thing.

  8. Did you recently upgrade/change browsers? I think it's been a couple years now that most browsers notify the user when an HTTPS connection can't be established. HTTPS, and not HTTP, is supposed to be the new normal for web browsing...

I assume the billing system is adequately secured.

  9. If you have access to the CMSF2 all-in-one installer - it will have the documentation.

I assumed it was publicly accessible. If not, ask @BFCElvis if it would be possible to make the PDF manuals available for every WWI/Modern title.

Having the manuals publicly available seems like a good thing and can only encourage sales.

IIRC, the demo has scenarios for the base, UK, and NATO modules.

  10. I miss the algorithms actually published by SSI circa '82.

At least the CM Engine Manual provides a little more detail... to each his own.

It's tedious trying to post non-trivial faults when, for example, no one has any idea how an 'Evade' is intended to function. It took three years to essentially revert back to pre-4.0 behavior.

Anyhow, Battlefront seems to know what they are about as few developers have been in the same market for 20+ years.

Probably the issue with CM2 is that most scenarios tend to encourage a "fight to the death" strategy - no need to conserve men ammo or equipment for the future.  It's a major reason that Campaigns that require ammo and force conservation seem more realistic in the casualty calculations.

To be fair, most want to move quickly to contact and then spend the remainder of their gaming session in contact. It's a game. There's only so much mucking about one can do in a 45 minute engagement. Again, it's a game and, within this context - it rewards battle drills over gamey actions exploiting engine limitations. For the most part.
