I dont normally use this but...LOL
Really, telling someone who bought the games and plays them that a discussion is not worth it because he is a troll who dont want positive change...
The people who actually dont want "positive change" are you and some others who deny really every issue of CMx2 and the way BFC handles them, you are happy with everything BFC puts out and puts a 55$ price tag on anyway!
Why are you here ? Just to tell everyone who wants some change that his opinion is invalid ?
Again...LOL !
People demand a reworked UI (for the next title), you tell them its not worth BFC's time and there opinion does not matter anyway because they are just negative trolls, thats why this forum has a very specific reputation amongst the non-fanboys.

Not to bring down your idea, but what's so interesting about France in 1940? I'm no history expert, but wasn't that basically a walkover for the Germans? I guess if you just want to see the German war machine at the peak of its power, then ok, but I don't think it makes for a very interesting wargaming scenario watching the panzers roll over the hapless French.
Thats not really true, the french army (on paper) was at least as good as the german army, there were countless "CM scale" encounters during the 1940 campaign were both side met at equal terms and many which saw the French temporary defeating German troops.
I would recommend you the book "Blitzkrieg-Legende" by Karl-Heinz Frieser if you are interested in this topic.
Operational the French forces got crushed by the Wehrmacht but that does not mean much for the CM size of engagements.

I will try to reduce your post in the quote to its core...
Or maybe you think [CMx1] it was perfect and should be playing that.
[...]your attitude and lack of anything useful to say. Very nearly every time you post, it's a dig at BFC.
[...]you assume that because people disagree with you on certain points they think CM is perfect. [...]your nonsense; you won't listen. I'll leave you to carry on living in your own solipsistic little world where you're always right.
Here we go again, the typical attitude of this forum towards users who focus on (or point out) the issues of CMx2...
a ) tell them to play another game and shut up
b ) tell them they are idiots who talk nonsense
c ) bash them and/or call them names
...as always.
Sorry, to keep nagging about this....
But it has atleast been my impression that the bulge games 'big one' and main selling point will be...
New winterconditions (Graphics, effects, gameplay functions...)...and i still hope (trust) it will be.
"BFC have never dissapointed yet"...true, true...But if BFC decides to port the snow effects from CMFI then this will be a first for BFC imo...a dissapointment !
But i don't think they will dissapoint
But why did they not announce new winter-condition features already ?
If they are currently working on them and dont know how they will end up they could at least write something like:
"We are currently working on..."
or
"We plan to include..."
That they say nothing about it tells me they will just port over CMFI "snow" and give it new textures. We all know BFC has other, more important work to do...

Wow you guys have reached an all new low around here. Near constant whining and no valuable input. I think my ignore list will be growing soon. It is official I'm calling you a
Putting everyone who is not happy with everything BFC does on your Ignore list just shows how much of a (so called) "Fanboy" you and some others here are.
"Near constant whining and no valuable input", should i laugh ?
The only "valuable input" for you is if someone cheers BFC like a little cheerleader !
There is a technical bug report thread -> Hell no thats not a bug/issue, buy a new PC and shut up !
Someone points out a spotting issue -> Stop complaining the spotting model is to complex for you to understand, thats all !
A guy points out the lack of progress of the CMx2 Engine games -> Vote him down, and tell him how he is just constantly whining !
Someone request a new feature -> Shut up dude, BFC has "other work" to do !
...just pathetic !
Maybe iam to negative towards BFC and CMx2, but some of you alre clearly way to positive about every aspect of CMx2 and BFC as a company !
So i just try to balance things a bit...
-
Still, it would be nice to have it sorted out to make the numbers add up more realistically.
I highly doubt this will ever happen, the numbers were "wrong" since the beginning of CMx2 7 years ago and nobody can tell me thats not enough time to "fix" them.
I dont believe they ever intended to "fix" the numbers.

Fortunately for everyone, BFC have pretty thick skins by now, so I don't expect the cavailing and hand-wringing is actually going to stop them giving sneak previews, but you could understand if they were a bit reluctant to tell us anything in future.
Sorry but everyone sees that these screenshots are ugly, they better did not post them at all (and i think they show nothing you could not already do with the existing games/modules and some bmp editing... )

My impression: Wiggum, you seem to have a Freudian love/hate relationship going on with Battlefront. I find it reminiscent of of that classic study in contrasts, Sonny and Michael Corleone in the Godfather. It’s no surprise the two sons aren’t exactly BFFS, but in a weird way, they sort of need each other. And they have almost nothing to learn from the wimpy middle brother, Fredo. I'm glad you're not Fredo.
Thats actually true.
Everytime i play CMx2 i think about how much better it could be if the developers had choosen another engine that wouldn't get the game stuck into a "dead end" from which there is no escape.
CM needs three things, a more flexible engine (that means new features can be included easier and there arent that many "dead ends"), a ArmA like editor and a more appealing user interface.
There are so many shortcomings and problems with the CMx2 games but its still the best 3D tactical wargame out there and really fun to play most of the time...
-
Claiming that BFC don't listen to the user base when they've put so many features in that have been asked for that they initially thought were unnecessary (Target Armour arcs, Command lines, flame weapons leap to mind)
...you mean features that already were in CMx1 and suddenly disappeared in CMx2 ?
-
[...]and why do you think BFC ignores the forums (Especially when I see Steve and Chris posting quite frequently)
Yeah, Steve posting about his opinion about Russian politics and Chris cautions users from time to time...did i miss something ?
Sorry i dont want to be offensive but thats all i heard from them in the last few months...
-
Again, whats the point of "Constructive feedback" if BFC seems to ignore this forum and has left many things the players complained about unfixed in nearly 8 years ?
-
Dude, you need to hug a kitten or something, do you have anything positive to say, or at least constructive?
Constructive ?
Is BFC giving away the game for free ?
No, they sell it full price and i pay full price. With that i also get the right to complain.
What should i say "constructive" ?
- BFC, what about a new UI ? -> Will never ever happen to CMx2
- BFC i think you should include new terrain and graphic features for snow in the bulge game, what about that ? -> Will not happen with the current engine or is "to much work"...
Im just not one of those guys who (in absence of any official BFC employee in this forum) gives excuses for really everything thats wrong with the game (since 7+ years...)
Oh and yes i have many positive things to say about CMx2, otherwise i would not use my money to buy it.
-
I think Tank Hunter is correct, there will be no "major" changes and no new terrain or graphic features in the Bulge game.
The speed at which new features get included into CMx2 is very slowww...
Dont expect anything "major" new in the Bulge game. It could be just a Normandy module but BFC decided to release it as a standalone.
-
Thewood1 is 100% correct, the DRM for the CMx2 games is unfair and way to restrictive, they need to do something about that !
-
Can someone tell me the file names of the menu background and loading screen background music ?
-
Kieme as far as i know you did only 2 vehicles in digital camo, now that have made a green version for the Oplot,...could you please make one for the BTR4 ?
-
@ Thewood1
What do you expect if the first post in a thread starts with calling Japanese Soldiers "tyrannical scumbags"...The BFC forums were once good for "above average objective" historical discussions (because the focus was mostly on the military aspects only) but that time seems long gone.
-
Night Combat is another thing that already was bad in SF and in 8 years never got improved.
-
I top would don't care about graphics improvements if they would improve the gameplay and realism, maybe overhaul the infantry combat or improve the TacAi.
But I highly doubt any significant gameplay improvements will be included in the bulge game...
-
Sorry but the standard textures are pretty dull, boring...some would call this...bad. I do !
The distant ground is extrem bad, the UI is boring and old fashioned.
It's kind of amusing how some here have a explanation for everything BFC does (they make boring textures because if the modders who keep the forum alive :-o ), they might also will have a explanation if BFC adds no new snow features and graphic effects...
-
I have nothing against JTS games, I like the Squad Battles stuff but you can clearly see that they don't put much work into the look of the game (the bitmaps).
Oh and I highly doubt it's because of not enough time that the standard textures look that bad... Although they have improved a bit over the last 8 years... But that's not enough. Give the textures more love BFC !
-
Looks great, as always !
-
What a piece of art !
-
That could be called PROGRESS...Not complaining i mean...but the IMPROVED QUALITY of games.
Yes...We are spoiled. But by now we have HIGH expectations on BFC. They have shown that they are are in a class of their own when it comes to these kind of tactical games but that does not mean that we don't wan't these games to continue evolving.
At this day in age snow graphics like in those pictures couldn't possibly be considdered 'GOOD'...(Yes, i know they are in alpha)...
The BULGE GAME will without a doubt be the best tactical waregame depicting the battle in the ardennes even without improved snow graphics and new features...But some of us have become 'spoiled' and wish for more then simply - the best...
That has nothing to do with "spoiled".
We should just hope that BFC does not go the same way like JTS, what they did was to create a engine some ages ago and now they sell it again and again just with a new TOE and new Bitmaps.
BFC could do this too and still make money but only because there is no competition, so lets hope for some competition in the feature.
What they could and SHOULD do in this new game is working a bit more on the textures !
Modders like Aris and Kieme have shown how much better the game can look if you give the textures some love.
Or look at Juju's UI mod, that such a huge improvement over the boring standard look of the UI.
BFC could just give these guys the game+any coming module for free and ask them to do the textures and UI, the finall product would look 10 times better !

So This Bug is already known ?
Or should we PM one of the devs or ?
Anyway I also could report it via helpdesk.
More Bulge Info! (and a few screenshots...)

Just one last thing from me on this, putting people with a different opinion on your ignore list is most likely the cheapest thing you can do on a forum.
But if the "everything is right with CMx2 and nothing needs to be changed" guys dont want to read about different opinions thats fine...
As we know now, this thread is NOT about discussing the bulge game and what we the customers expect from it, its just for people who are drooling on it !
And the "Steve has said he want to..." stuff reminds me about kids telling their parents that they will clean up their room...but after 7 years its still a bit of a mess.
