If one wishes to have this / play this - as a night mission . Can it be done in an editor ? And change time of day ? Or would it mess up anything . I was thinking - how thrilling itd be for night missions . ️

Ah I c. Thanks for ur reply. And last wishful question then, the original Dutch mod conversion to ana, why wouldn’t it work ? Considering many mods were smoothly transferred ? Does it necessitate a complete remake ?

Hi guys ! Re: CMSF1 campaign heart of darkness by @dragonwynn so the accompanying mod folder called sangin - should be stripped of the talibs & ANA and use the ones uploaded recently by @Zveroboy1 ?

Sadly you can't use the map image as an overlay like you can in the newer titles.

Ehhhh. Exactly still in good ideas old box. I was the instigator and dreamer but not a doer. Now that summer is approaching I might have a change of heart. This and another I wish / 13hrs - soldiers of benghazi. I know consulate evac is close - but damn... 13 hrs.... contains a beauty of a mix and two areas. The embassy and the CIA annex wit four buildings . Tyrone Woods and with glen Doherty coming in later as reinforcements.
I would think the uncons would fit for ansar al sharia too.

Mission 2 done - 3 wounded , 0 dead and all intact. Up for mission 3
i wanna say - this gameplay and the style of coup d’etat really really embodies the possibilities and imagination of the designers and of CMSFII in general. I really really wish to commend both. Valley of death is cool as it’s a campaign with a narrative .

I’m in mission 2 - god damn - this campaign is immersive enough to sort of make u feel ‘in it’ - the maps are large, and enables one to make ANY choices u wish to play it out . Congrats

I spent a good four hours or so the other day dicking around in the hex editor eyeing up the Syrian mds files. Charles locked them down hard. @Blimey reported this waaaay back when BS came out but I wanted to see what was what for myself. The Brain some how tied ALL the Syrian soldiers into a single set of mdses. ALL their codes point to lines entitled "placeholder uniform" "place holder skin" place holder boots". The old mdses had a set for each soldier type and their code would point to something like "syrian reserve soldier" "syrian reserve uniform" etc. In effect there is no way to trick the mdses because every single file, no matter what it is, says "placeholder uniform" etc. The only reason Mikey pulled off that weapon swap was because the weapons files hadn't been screwed with."

"No need to apologize. I thought you might be going in that direction but then the head gear would have to be for the Special Forces because then EVERY body else (Mech, Reserves, Guards, Airborne) would be wearing it. It's a complete conundrum. It wouldn't work with the Uncons because they don't have any helmets. It's a Gordian knot and we can't cut it as far as I can see.
The key to all of this is locked up in those mdses somewhere.

As head gear goes you can have troops either wearing a helmet, not wearing a helmet, or wearing a helmet and no helmet mixed. But you can't have a helmet and a beret in the same formation.
And I don't even have the Muj files that Blimey made for SF1. I don't know why. I thought I'd saved them. You wanna talk about hex magic those were hex magic. What a confusing bunch of models they were. Anyway they wouldn't work with SF 2.

Tbh I have ZERO experience in afghan/talib boots on the ground since I’m no soldier let alone being present. The scenario works beautiful During the day as you said and as written. I was asking whether a scenario (any one ) can be shifted from day to night in the editor - which it seems it can ! And in the context of Afghan ops - I was inclined to think of / follow the ‘controversial’ joint US/afghan night ops to capture talib commanders. I guess such high value targets would be protected . And even IF surprise is key at the beginning ... maybe this won’t be the case once the red forces are alerted.
and i simply wish to see beautiful scenario maps such as this how they are seen at different times of day - even to drive around and zoom in .
