Its also hard when every critic is met with terms like "overblown", "irrational" or "ridiculous exaggeration"...

i just went into a cut of at koevering scenario, minimal fps 8, average 12-13, maximum 40 (when looking at the skies) i5 4690k at4ghz,gtx 970 oced,8gb of ram. clean fresh pc. can run even arma 3 on 60 fps if server is good. i dont know why are you still lying.

if we take this what  i said true, which it is, battlefront is believing that playing on 15 fps is ok.

Oh wow, did not know you are that old school...iam sorry...
And no, Germany will not invade Russia again, i will stay here and tell you about stuff you refuse to hear.
CM has big flaws, face it and and stop acting like a hardcore fanboy so we can have a constructive discussion.

Sorry, if you dont see how infantry formation (correctly implemented) could enhance the CM gameplay then you clearly have a problem with your imagination.

No, it would just show that Steve refused to sell a great game or feared that it would outshine their own CM series someday.

    @ Kieme(ITA)

Sorry, i like you and your Mods but what you wrote about the FPS thing is trash. Lacroix is 100% correct !
If your PC is 3 or 4 times as powerful as the "Suggested" requirements and you still only get stuttering 25 FPS (with drops below 15 FPS) on big Maps then something is wrong.
If you can start ArmA3, load the biggest possible island and drink a coffee in the time it takes CM to load a medium-big scenario then something is wrong !
This game, lets face it, is just very poorly optimized, thats all !
Why are you defending BFC about that ? I cant understand it...

He has nothing to do with BFC except that he buys their games. Why should he have sleepless nights about their business's success ?
BFC has to have them, if they choose the wrong strategy they are done for, and i fear they are currently doing something wrong...
Their old fans will not always be here to buy their products and new ones are rarely interested in a badly performing 10 year old engine with fundamental flaws.

all they do regarding 'progress' is change the name of the title, add 6 new vehicles, make campaigns that are nowhere near interesting as multiplayer experience and dont fix problems that were present  8 years ago and make 50 maps out of which 35 are crap

if you really think couple new targeting mechanics ,broken shaders and holes(decals) on tanks are major improvement then its fine (over the course of 8 , or should i say 10 years soon)

Wow, you reached a new low with this post sburke...

No, you DONT criticize how CM handles Bridges !
If that was the case you would stard threads about it and ask BFC why they did not fix it in 8 years.
You have a strange desire to always be polite toward BFC, thats why you never would ask them harsh questions or demand a answer from them.

Then you try to get this thread closed...
That typical, get the critic banned or derail his threads so they got closed...again, very mature.

And about World Cup, as far as i know Germany won it, i mean the real thing not the Women's thing nobody cares about.
And i guess you care as much about football as i care about American Football or Women's "soccer"...
Thats so childish but you still got me to answer this...i know thats your plan because you want m,e banned or at least this thread closed...

There are many possible ways to finance the creation of a new engine.

One would be to search for a Publisher like Paradox or Matrix Games.
Or use Kickstarter and look how much money you can collect.

I would go for this approach:
    1. Work on a concept for a CMx3 engine
    2. Release all the CMx2 games and modules on Steam (on a date like VE day or something), do a discount like 20% for the first few weeks...the popularity of CM will go through the roof !
    4. Make sure all those new CM players know about the Kickstarter campaign for CMx3

If you reach the goal and can actually build a CMx3 engine, great ! Maybe they can collect enough money to hire additional developers, artists.
    6. Do a Early Access to collect additional money while still in development

But i suspect BFC wants to play it as safe as possible and fears such a approach. They make enough money with CMx2 and know pretty well how much money they make with every "new" game and module.
Possible they can all carry on this way till they can retire and become full-time grandpas.

    Hi !

CMSF is 8 years old now, technically i would say that we play the same game for 8 years now...
Its time to move to the next level of wargaming !

What do you think, when should BFC start to develop a CMx3 engine ?
What would be the features you want to see in it ?
Do you want it on Steam ?
Do you think a Kickstarter or Early-Access Model would work for BFC ?

    My most wanted features:
    - Reworked Infantry Simulation (Movement, Formations, Cover, Spotting) right now i think its pretty unrealistic
    - Better TacAI, especially for the enemy AI, more situational awareness and a kind of self preservation (better Panic behavior !)
    - More Commands like a "Use Road" or Road Movement command for Vehicles
    - Make suppression more effective
    - Finally enable the TacAI to use bridges
    - Reworked Building Model + special MOUT commands
    - Inf - Vehicle (Tank,IFV,APC) cooperation commands
    - Better simulation of Night Combat with Flares and a NVG View
    - Better Modeling of terrain, terrain deformation and real trenches and foxholes not that ugly things we have now (but still with FOW)
    - The Option to mark buildings as prepared for defense in the editor
    - Fighting Positions for Vehicles
    - Better Quick Battles, better automatic force selection
    - More options for the AI in the Editor, more trigger options and waypoints
    - SOP's for the action Phase like "Evade enemy fire" or "Area fire at suspected enemy positions" or "only engage enemy AFV's"
    - Better graphics with not such a comic look like in CMx2
    - No more "floating in green goo" map
    - Completely redone UI
    - Better optimization for Dual and Quad Core CPU's
    - Reduce loading times
    - Map overlay system
    - Actually show us the aircraft
    - Wet surfaces during rain
    - Build in Vehicle and Weapon Encyclopedia

    What do you think ?

are there any plans to improve unit spacing?
for example sending an team or in worse case squad from point A to point B and ensuring they take good positions, can be problematic. Soldiers will just unrealistically try to be as close to eachothers as they can, often being on top of each others

besides not looking very nice, it impacts gameplay alot. and realism.

interaction between unit spacing and HE (or any other rounds) is my point

tight formation, which is completely unnessesary , makes them more vulnerable to the HE rounds. now, it might be the case that HE rounds are not as deadly in the game as they are irl.
which bring us to another thing: Not Realistic much

in my opinion, this is a big flaw in cm games. i dont mind that much strange animations and sometimes abysimal shadows but this is one of the things that is critical for realism

are there any plans to adress this, and if yes would it be @v4 or x3 engine

''''Kosovo's objection has more to do with who's friends with who.  The behavior of the Serbian military pretty much 1993-1999 is on the road to terrible, and we're ready to remember the agony of sad that the Serbs went through during the bombing, but not the well filled ditches the Serbs left from Croatia, through Bosnia, and beyond.  All the Serbs had to do is stop shooting civilians, and there wouldn't have been much of a leg to stand on.

As the case is the region is a lot more stable today, and there's a marked downtick in violence.  And Kosovo isn't a US territory so there you go.  ''''''

(note: land in 21st century doesnt need to be conquered on a political 19th century map)

i duuno about other stuff, but i am from serbia and i am ethnic serb. and i am not nationalist, i am anti serb , i am often disgusted by our traditions ,  i think its pointless and brainwashing-ish. i like western europe  but,

    you are wrong

situation in our country back then was to say the least very complicated. its , (very loose term) something like war of the clans. you have many factions during the time. and listen now, NONE of them are good and NONE of them are bad

Albanian unrest  started in the 80s , or even earlier. but 80s are the starting point of this story (kinda simplified story) , it wasnt that much of a big deal, you know unrests happen but not many people at that time thought it will be War... we must see things from their (past) point of view (their: people in the past)

you have quazi communists/socialist or whatever they are, you have albanian nationalists, you have Serb nationalists and many other factions. and most of them are dumb as ****, on both sides (plebs)

simply put, there are interests of Albanian nationalists, ethnic albanians and to some extent extremists, problem is , sometimes its hard to differentiate who is extremist and who is not, who is for* extremists and who is not and how much do they support certain idea at the given time/region, its VERY VERY complicated. 3 people playing board games @ basement can get into fight , not to mention province/state where there are milions of people...

AND you have  serbian moderates ,nationalists and extremists.. its a ****ty mess

so their interests (albanian): have their own country/Join albania,or get bigger autonomy

Serb interests: keep kosovo (since its heart of serbia and all that bull**** , even tho its true thats where serbia WAS dominant , now its not , due to ww1 and ww2 and other events )

on other hand you have Milosevic who is "neutral' and want to perserve things (the president), but in reality he kiiiinda secretly does things to benefit ethnic serbs since he sees things are eventually gona get bad, but how bad ?

Albanians are those who are attacking status quo, that must be clear, back then Our country was Recognized by the world, everything was legit.

Terrorist attacks started, small or big doesnt matter

you will say , ''they started   because albanians were supressed''

but that is not a honest answer , do you Really think you know who throw the first stone? its a multidimensional situation/problem, you cant just put it into linear box. theres lots of propaganda on both sides, and honestly, you cant know the truth by watching ,well one of the Not so credible News : CNN , 25 000 km away somewhere in atlanta

**** happened, on both sides , but on a multidimensional level (Where, how, what, why,Reaction to previous event, wrong conclusions ,wrong translations of the actions etc etc etc )

you know your country (State)  is very famous for ... well ... strange inconsitencies right? so is every country at one point in time, but just keep that in mind when talking about informations and clinton and other ... ' loving' people.
i think its safe to assume that clinton doesnt (didnt) give a **** about serbs nor albanians. or at lest its more realistic saying that it doesnt matter what he 'thinks' , he can say he did it for humanitarian reasons, or for the money , it doesnt matter, his opinion is irrelevant. So far Evidence has shown that there are no bad/good guys, only dead/alive guys

In my opinion- people don't care whether you show them numbers or coffins or corpses. They wont care unless it is connected to them or their family. I remember going to some practical courses in a police station in Novi Sad. There was a black marble plaque with names and dates of police officers killed on duty. Not one of my colleagues stopped and looked at their names. Life is cheap and no one will care whether you died in a car crash, in Iraq or Ukraine.

i must refuse to look at serbia as a less valid country than U.S.A

if you had equivalent of albanians in usa ,what would you do? be realistic.kosovo is like 10% of serbian internationally recognized land.  Terror  and terrorists are magnet for armies, armies that will come to try to destroy them
Serbia was more capable of killing to some extent and thats why on paper you ll find more non serbs dead. even that is discutable tho..

but what does it matter 8 000 or 18 000 , one side will sometimes inflict more death on another, just cause its physics.
one important thing. dead  Albanian terrorists tend to represent themselves   (or other people do that for them, like most of the world and most of the albanians  ) as civilians , numbers are tricky. i am not saying all of them were terrorists, i am saying just keep that in mind

and most importantly, i didnt see any real infromation from you. a strong case and abundance of your personal knowledge about this conflict. all i am hearing is general talk

    i was talking about you
your tendency to subtly support murca more than other countries when it comes to ' whos less evil'
that is relevant to this thread, and i think i saw it in this thread aswell.
