It's getting hard to keep track of all the varieties of Russian armour.

A nail biter continues! I think you've done incredibly well considering the numerical and quality imbalance. When I played this as the Russians, I wiped out every Ukrainian vehicle on the far side of the river in a few turns with minimal losses.

I think this post speaks to what we really need to consider - points cost. People seeking to dump down vehicle X's capabilities or beef up vehicle Y are going about things in the wrong way. The vehicle / system capabilities should be modelled like in RL. The balance of QBs needs to be in the points not in tweaking capabilities. Those that are arguing that the US capabilities are too strong because they always beat the Russian forces are barking up the wrong tree.
I agree. All three armies in CMBS have their strengths and weakness, but these need to be balanced with extra points in QBs depending on the circumstances. I think tactics matter a lot more in this game than anything else. People seem quite obsessed with tank spotting capabilities, although I'm generally of the opinion that a guy with binoculars should be doing the spotting first then directing a superior number of tanks against the enemy accordingly. Of course that doesn't always work out as intended, but if it did then this game wouldn't be any fun.

Try some realistic, "real life" setup: slightly more numerous, tank heavy Russian force, some vehicles with APS, drones, laser guided arty and a battery of Tunguskas vs less numerous mechanized US forces, no APS on the vehicles and the laughable SHORAD just like in the reality and tell me who wins
I recently played a huge PBEM as the US against an attacking Russian force with a +25% bonus. The lack of any AA assets beyond Stingers for the Americans was a serious problem. His helicopters accounted for most of my tank loses. I unwisely opted for more tanks without APS, when I should have bought a smaller number of APS Abrams'. I did managed to destroy all my opponents T-90's and his Khrizantemas, and knock out something like 30 BMP-3's. Still, I was eventually overwhelmed by numbers, copious amounts of support weapons, and my own tactical failings.

Wow! This looks great! Thanks so much for taking the time to make a scenario. Just gave it a quick glance, but will give it a go once I have more time.

This is one of my favourite videos ever. It goes great with music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ScYz9sNaQk

Yikes! Is the ford mined at all?

It's a great map. I would probably give the Ukrainians more stuff to start off with though. Maybe Bulats instead of T-64's too.

It's been 2 weeks and I haven't really heard anything about this game from my buddy. I'm afraid it may be dead. Plus side is that I'll finally get to upgrade to v4...
Sorry everyone, I was just as excited to see how it plays out!
Ah shucks. Do you plan on releasing this as a scenario?

I have to wonder if we'll ever see a return to multiplayer campaigns.

Also, do you have any CMBS campaigns or scenarios in the works?

Looks like my "Bridgehead at Kharalyk" map.
Indeed it is! The finest CMBS map re-purposed for a brutal quick battle that is now down to its final, horrible minutes.

When do your reinforcements arrive? They are all BMP-2's and T-64's, correct?

Not sure if this warranted its own thread, but I found this rather excellent overview of APS systems (some of which are Russian).

This looks great, but shouldn't your opponent be forbidden from viewing this thread? Is it an open PBEM relationship?

I think this is the most challenging small scenario in the game. I had to try it a few times before I got a victory. I used scouts with tight cover arcs to figure out where the Ukrainian armour was, and used a lot of area fire on the near side of the highway to clear it. I used the machine guns on the BTR's to keep heads down and tried to pack as many men as possible into a building to gain overwhelming fire.

I'd love to upgrade myself. The improvements seem pretty cool, but I don't want to force my opponent to upgrade and I'm not sure what will happen if we upgrade in the middle of a game.
When my opponent and I upgraded to 4.0 in a PBEM, we got two turns of weird smoke that looked like explosions then everything straightened itself out. All other features worked fine.
Your opponent doesn't seem to be making much use of area fire, which is probably the BMP-3's greatest strength. Does he have any dismounts spotting?

ATGM team of the year!
Are you playing PBEM or against AI?

Same here. But I dont think it is PBEM related. It is rather the effect of loading a game saved before the update.
This issue sorted itself out after a couple turns for me.

PBEM game smoke turned into explosions-like clouds after upgrading.
Any word on whether Ukrainian tank commander bug has been fixed?

Most likely, but no guarantees. We do not perform any specific tests to make sure things will work or not work. Sometimes a particular tweak won't be activated for a game already in progress, but that's not a big deal.

Everything seems okay in a PBEM, except that smoke has turned into explosions. I shudder to think what kind of horrible cancers the pixeltruppen will suffer from after inhaling such nasty stuff.
Shall try to start an unofficial screenshots thread?
