And when Ukrainian reserves begin to tear the "main line" in the South and get stuck there, they hope to hit...

But will it be as successful as the taking of Bakhmut :D

it means that the Russians certainly don’t seem to be short on combat potential and/or aren’t overly concerned about the situation getting out of hand in any of their defensive battles

Or, hear me out, it all a lie. 🙂

You're quoting me out of context. They treated all drones as hi-tech gear, as evidenced by the fact only US and RU have access to them in-game. This assumption turned out  to be blatantly wrong.

No, I have the context right I just totally disagree with you that this is some kind of disaster. Yes, they were shown to have not quite got it. I still think they did as good a job as could be expected so I have no beef.

As a consumer, I'm also flabbergasted by the fact that this issue could've been rectified to some extent by a simple TOE change or a new force selection setting,

OK sure. First they have long ago said they have no plans for any updates or modules or new content for CMBS while the war is on going. So, you should not be surprised. Second OK sure whatever. I have no idea if BFC will agree with you about adding more drones in their 2017 simulation there is a high likely hood they will not change course. I just don't know. I hope to see some lethality changes sure but even bugs take a long time to get fixed sometimes.

Which is why I said I'm not planning to play CMBS going forward unless this gets fixed

OK but as one of my son's hockey coaches used to say "don't hold your breath - cause you might die" :D

I simply had no clue how to access the Ryan thread until a kindly Forumite provided a hack (now bookmarked).

On a related note, last year I finally gave in and created a Twitter account so I could look at the Igor Girkin account after it received a blanket "over 18" rating.  Having an account is the only way to view 18+ posts or accounts.  I immediately went into settings and disabled everything and will never, ever use it to post.

Yep, same although I think in the early days  I did post a little but it really is pointless.

@LongLeftFlank can you share this hack to see twitter with no account. I have several friends who are a similar boat.

I'm asking for small (but very significant) TOE changes that in hindsight should've been there since 2014.

LOL really, should have been? BFC did a really good job in 2012-2014 in guessing what the battlefield would be like in 2017, including drones. It was based on lessons learned in Afghanistan and other places. What they have makes a lot of sense. I suspect what they got wrong was the ease that drones are downed by some AAA, even then I'm not sure we have clear evidence on that.

For sure if they were to create a game in 2023 guessing what the battlefield would be like in 2027 they would have a lot more drones of different sizes and capabilities.

I would like to see a TO&E in a module that includes more types and more instances of drones in the org chart. I think that's about all you can expect. Even then we might be disappointed in their interpretation of drones in 2017 since by definition the game is not set in 2022.

Still waiting to be allowed to view the knowledge base, is there some reason I'm being restricted?

You have to be logged into the support portal to see it.

@BFCElvis it would probably be a good thing(tm) if the KB articles are viewable without being logged in. Not sure how easy that is...

Instead they will continue to terrorize Ukraine with long-range air attacks, every month, every week, since that is what they can afford and what Ukraine cannot stop at the source.

Nearly everything thing you said is a possibility. I think it will go better for the Ukrainians but we don't know yet. But the above is just wrong. If they did end up in a place where there was a stale mate in the ground and people moved on but the Russians kept targeting civilians the Ukraines would get methods to strike the source. They would happily be given to them or they would get them themselves. The Russian airfields and or launch sites would be targeted and relentlessly so.

Let's not get tied up in semantics.

Agreed lets not. To be clear the FSB is an organization that actually exists. It has leaders and followers. They have goals. They so stuff. They act together. While the "deep state" does not actually exist. It doesn't matter if some people think it does, it doesn't matter if the authors of the linked article don't understand that. There is no organization that calls itself the deep state, there is no leadership, there is no goal, it's a fake thing that people who are upset about not getting their way invoke to justify that their incompetence, illegal acts or general misunderstandings of how the world works.

They are not the same. There is no similarity. So there is no issue with semantics because it is clear.

The FSB is a dystopian version of what some Americans refer to as the “deep state.”

Yeah but the FSB is a real group with leadership, intention and structure that really hurts people to preserve power for the dictator. Perhaps in this case now for itself. While the "deep state" is just a made up boogie man that is nothing more than the general bureaucracy that moves slow and resists change.

  9. I strongly suspect you are the wrong place

  10. If the tube guy(tm) is a casualty then his partner, or someone else, needs to pick up the tube before it can fire again. That happens by allowing his team mate to buddy aid the tube guy. The panzerschreck or bazooka or PIAT will either be retrieved or determined to be non serviceable (NS) and thus no one gets to reuse the tube.

Putin said in a statement the "organisers of this rebellion will be brought to justice" and that the rebellion was "criminal activity which is aimed at weakening the country".

The palace intrigue continues. I wasn't really expecting Putin to be back in charge. Right now it kinda looks like Prig will regret stopping.

But where IS Putin? Why isn't he addressing Wagner, why is only some generals doing it?

Perhaps we'll get lucky and someone will wisk Putin away for his safety and he will never be seen again.

I agree it doesn't look like Wagner will make it to the Kremlin but that doesn't mean someone else cannot take advantage of the chaos.

Everything seems fine until suddenly it's not. That is how dictatorships end.

    We can hope.

Incidentally, the machine gun team and sniper team seemed to have very poor spotting at night, and they were still trying to spot the enemy after the infantry squad next to them had spotted enemy and exchanged fire. why is that?

My guess would be they don't have night vision sights. You can see night vision listed in the equipment list for the unit. Next question would be if they are missing should they be. That I don't know.
