Yes, now we'll start waiting for the BNMG module and first FI module!
I'm sure that the MG module is being beta tested with the 2.0 engine, so hopefully it will be announced soon too
-
I doubt that they will improve the engine for BN 2.0. It probably will be the same as is in the FI 1.01. The improvements will be done to 3.0 engine which comes with some future base game.
-
I hope that the silence is because they don't announce the games anymore 6-8 weeks before the release. Instead they should just release it without a hint or max 1-2 weeks before. The long wait after the announcement is maybe even more annoying than the total silence.
-
Well, the BN 2.0 Upgrade shouldn't be tackling any major things as the engine is already used in the FI.
And yes, of course there is a lot of stuff to be played with the existing stuff, but it's always nice to get something new
-
Would be really nice to hear soon about the next releases.... I remember that Steve or someone else from the BFC mentioned in the summer that during the next 12 month period there will be the BN 2.0 upgrade, BN MG module, at least one FI module and one or two new base games. I'm not too surprised that after 4 months after that comment nothing has been released yet... But on the bright side there will be a wave of releases during the next 8 months! Or will there?

I think the balconies could be even more dangerous at some cases than firing it indoors. As the balconies usually are not very wide the wall might be very close to you and the backblast would bounce back even from closer than in the room.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6CanphDUBac Here you can see the effect of the backblast. (Viewer discretion is advised as I do not know what eventually happened to that guy...)

The point is not the cancelling but how soon you are able to call it again
-
but there would be a problem between the real time play and pbem game and the game would have to be coded to work differently in real time mode. You can delete movement orders in both modes but it wouldn't be realistic if you could cancel the arty call in a second and call another one right away.
Or can you? I have not played any games with the real time mode
-
Well, if Petter Solberg can drive through orchards, then Shermans should too!
-
It's only changing your mind during the planning process. Why gamey?
Think twice before you do anything so you wont make mistakes
And if the ceasefire could be cancelled immediately it would happen also in the real time mode as well. And there it wouldn't be realistic.
-
I wish i had a dollar for the amount of times i've had to reload a PBEM turn just because i made a mistake with an artillery plan, please BF, allow artillery to be used again after a cease fire without a turn reload, or create another button called "cancel mission".
Hmm, I have never reloaded a PBEM game if I have made a mistake with arty plan. I think it's kind of gamey to do so.

Yes, been waiting for that for a while. And I think there was some talks earlier that there would be at least one new base game (or two, bagration and bulge?) and the OMG module for BN and couple of modules for FI during the next 12 month period. And that 12 month period was mentioned during the summer so there should be a bit more stuff coming up than the BN 2.0 upgrade. Or was it during the 2013? But lots of stuff should be out and I hope the guys at BFC can deliver that too.

Just guessing (I'm on a Mac and it sounds like you are on a PC), but I would think not unless you put one or the other in an additional folder named something else. And you would have to have a clickable icon for each on your desktop or somewhere convenient. Like I say, just guessing...
Michael
Yep, different folders and different icons were a standard issue with BN but now as the folder structure (new one in the documents) has been changed, I'm not willing to patch before I know if I can still continue using the 1.0
-
Why in the world would you want to do this? 1.01 is indisputably an improvement....
Yes, I know it's an improvement, but the patching is quite problematic when I play only pbem games... Because not all my opponents patch the game simultaneously and I've tended to play the game to the end with the version it was started. With BN it was easy to have different versions but dunno how it is with FI...
-
Has anyone patched the 1.0-->1.01 so that you're using both versions?
In BN it could be done just by copying the original game folder to another location and whn the patch was installed to one location the other one remained as an old version.
But how it is with FI? As there's the FI folder in the Personal Folder? is it possible to have both versions running with tha same personal folder?
-
Isn't the BN Upgrade 2.0 coming first and even it has not been released yet. Or could it be that the next module and upgrade are released simultaneously?
-
Yep, it seems to be quite hard for the germans to spot allied tanks! Maybe the commanders are again sitting 90 degree angle to their sights as they did in early builds of the BN

I have the F-Secure AV and it has not been giving too much headache before yesterday. And today it seems to be working fine and doesn't delete the exe file so it seems that it just had a bad Monday...
-
Has anyone else experienced the same annoying thing. I've been playing the CMFI since the day it was released but today for some reason my AV-software started to think that the .exe file is a trojan virus... It keeps deleting the exe even if I restore it. It "finds" it again right away and deletes the file... And therefore I can't access the game at all. Very annoying...

CM is not a shoot them up game, but as close as it can be to reality. Therefore abandoned guns can not, if still usable, be used by others than its initial crew.
In reality in WWII guns, tanks and equipments were gathered by Engineers units in the case of the US forces. Just because they had to be analysed at first and troops had to be kept informed of what kind of weapons they would have to deal with. In some instances some were used again., that as been done, however, within a certain delay and in a very, very small scale.
BTW : My father running such an Engineer unit used for his unit a Kettenrad found around Carentan. That tracked vehicle with a bike wheel at the front and a small trailer at the rear was kept in a state of order by a German mechanic they were able to retain with them. They used that Kettenrad till they reached Metz and abandoned it when it broke down, having no more the POW with them.
@John Kettler. These are “souvenirs” I had with lot of pictures, but they stayed in the States. No one in the family knows now days where they are! What a pity!
But in reality the gun would be re-manned if the situation requires it. Given that the gun is still operational. And we are not talking about manning enemy at-guns but on your own side.
-
Note that currently you can't even have non-members of the crew of a medium machine gun recrew it if the game-start crew are killed. Even if they're an LMG team using the same weapon on a bipod.
Yes, that's the case.
It would be quite an amazing feat to code that everything in the game could be re-manned, was it atg's or mg's.
-
I think that there should be some kind of middle of the road in this case.
The constant abandoning and remanning the gun will easily end up with gamey results. I think the at gun crew should be able to take more dispersed cover if ordered to do so (with reduced cabability to engage the enemy). Also some kind of re-use of the gun would be good.
If I was in a position to decide something, I think I would do something like this:
- Give AT-gun crew a possibility to scatter for better cover when needed with reduced engaging cababilities
- If the crew is killed, give an option to re-man the gun if it's still operational but with severely reduced performance especially if the remanning unit is a non trained at gun crew
- If the crew decides to abandon the gun it would disable the gun (breaking the sights, blasting the bore, etc.) and after that the gun couldn't be manned again. This would prevent the use of abandoning and re-manning the gun with gamey way
-
well, you can easily check if the unit really can see the gun. just go to the unit and zoom 20x to see whether the gun is visible or not.
if the unit has a LOS maybe the squad leader had a binos and just accidentally watched to right direction at the right moment and saw some movement. Crazier things has happened in the real life

And Aris is back! That Tiger I looks pretty damn good!

It is quite funny to see how many people here complain about the cost of the 10$ upgrade and can't see the difference between a patch and an upgrade even it has been explained by Steve and others countless of times already.
And on the other hand people who play for example EA Sports NHL series are happy to pay a full game price each year even though the improvements are mostly very small ones.
