Playing Halt! Hammerzeit PBEM. AT-5 hits one of my Leopards and kills the driver, but leaves the tank otherwise operational with only minor damage. Crew panics and dismounts from the tank. When their panic subsided, I was able to recrew the tank and happly drive off, eventhough it appeared that only the commander, gunner and loader stations were manned. As far as I could tell, it was operating with a full turret crew and no driver, but still moving about.
well, i got hit with an AT-3, frontal armour but juuuuuust hit the bottom of the cannon...and yes the tank burned and all the cew died

in NATO especially in the german campaign, the casualty limits are there for a reason, basically so make you preserve your force, in each scenatio but one, ive got slightly over the casualty rate and i am paying for it in the late campaign with less than combat effective sections...

only virtual smoke though! cigarettes are bad kids!
but yeah, anywhere where you have an open field to traverse and IFVs in your power, smoke the other end and do like a light brigade and charge under its cover, hopefully you wont end up the same

indeed, xD that is allot of work youre doing there!

there is more ahead!!

if only i had the accent jaja, good luck with the project!

or you can try watching Tyrspawns walkthroughs to see how he plays the game
-
the "cuss" mod, yeah definatelly missing that one for NATO, although it seems getting that for the geramans, ditch or even canadians might be more difficult
-
could some things be tweaked to make it H2H balanced¿

iron is just the same as elite, just with interface restrictions...more info in manual

well i distinguish between them seeing that CM: (S)hock (F)orce : N is NATO, since Normandy is just CM:Normandy
maybe that will help

ive had this same bug, but i dont have the save file anymore
-
well the Nyala is been used in afghanistan as a patrolling vehicle, and to my knowledge has done well in stopping small arms and EIDs
true maybe "modern" weapons would do more damage, but im not liking that small arms fire thing...hmm nono

yeah ive noticed the missions to be more challenging, but its mostly due to restrictive ROE or small numbers in the NATO armies still best campaigns ive played
edit: oh and ofcourse due to the fantastic work of the scenario creators!

try planning out the whole operation before you start, taking into accound your reinforcements and the time they will take to arrive,
for example, "I have 1st and 2nd platoon with me now, with 3rd + air support on reinforcements, ok i will atack objective 1 with these 2 platoons, then use 3rd as a reserve to attack objective 2 with support from the air" or something along those lines it helped me with that situation

In the German campaign I got pretty attached to my guys, in one mission I lost half a squad to an RPG and thought "bugger that!" and I let loose every 155mm shell on the village, didn't take any more fire
Another thing is to remember what you're fighting and what you have. If the enemy is lightly armed I tend to use the MBT's as bullet magnets to discover the enemy locations, then I pour fire on them and advance my lighter stuff up. After that anything that looks suspicious receives about 10 seconds of continuous fire from everything in sight - usually a lot
yeah sounds familiar , with germany every soldier you loose is a hinderance
thats the thing, draw fire from a distance, pummel it, movin closer, pummel it abit more and storm!

clearing rooms has become so much easier now with the area fire clearing, in the first german mission, where in RT 1.2 i would have personally lost 10 or more KIA, i only lost 5 KIA (3 in IED) and about 6 WIA, which for my standards in MOUT wasnt bad, it all helped.

UAV's
in Combat Mission Shock Force 1
Posted
well i dont thing a UAV is the best type of CAS for a combat mission. those UAVs that target HVTs ussually stalk them or follow them around until they strike and are ussualy CIA manned. during a conflict its much better to use aircraft than a UAV, atleast in todays battlefield
the identifying enemy units could be useful although i dont know if units in a conflict like that would be "armed" with small UAVs like in afghanistan
