  1. Hi boche and many thanks for the swift reply. Mmm, interesting! What prompted the question was a scenario I'm working on where the command section of a UK light infantry company is pinned down on the outskirts of a Syrian town and has to exit west to safety. The map is urban 400x400. I wasn't sure whether it was viable/realistic to give Blue artillery/CAS options. Sounds like the options should be there but used at the player's risk. In the scenario, Syrian mech infantry arrive halfway through and I was looking for a viable counter for Blue without adding Javelin teams etc. The idea behind the scenario is to exfil the town with fewer than 20 per cent casualties - and with no points for enemy kills.

sure that would work :) whenever you finish it send it my way id love to play it!

  2. In a word, no, unless they put in the QB update. But that's already been confirmed as never will happen. They've been working on CMSF now for over three years now, post-launch. Time to move on IMO. Besides, we got the Western Front family and then the Eastern Front family after that.

Bottom line, I think they/we have bigger fish to fry.

why have you posted the same message 3 times so far? :P

  3. Sivodsi, that is what I read before but this source claims differently (fired in opposite direction, NK send multiple faxes to protest and warn). Since this source is newer I thought this would be more accurate. They don't report where they got their claims from, but they insinuate it is not only (propaganda) from NK.

A show of force is pointless in this regard IMO, it is either blow it to smithereens or let it implode over time. NK isn't afraid to show force as they have shown. Quite a result the show of force got the SK in that case...

NK knows that invading SK is playing Russian roulette with a FMJ loaded AK47.

If I were SK and was interested in avoiding casualties, I would choose a smarter spot to conduct exercises. Just my opinion.

a show of force persues one objective, to show the enemy what they are up against and deter them from atacking. do you think its better to do nothing?

"Hey they just shelled us, but lets do nothing, those mongrels will implode one of these years, yes yes!"

what the NK did wasnt a show of force, it was an attack, an act of war.

The south koreans arent interested in pissing off the north, all they want is to continue to prosper as a nation as they have done for the past 50 years. they wouldnt risk all the gained for a pity conflict with the north.

  4. According to the dutch newspaper 'depers.nl' South Korean forces actually fired shells directly on the disputed borderline in the Sea, which triggered the (mad) response from the North Koreans.

I'm curious as to the reason for having to practice shelling precisely this area, when even a child understands that there is a good chance this will provoke North Korea...

well for one, if I wish to conduct military excercises in what is my own sea, i may

And two, SHOW OF FORCE! which is exactly what was done after the corvette sinking and what is going to happen with the George Washington.

  5. Nah, the best will be CM:Z. Yeah, baby, zombies are trying to bite yo' ass! Can you and your team drive through the city without being devoured? Ever wonder what all those movies would've been like if the protagonists had been equipped with some REAL hardware? Drive your Abrams over to the city cemetery and just watch the fun unfold!

    CM:Z!! It must be!!

lol, it needs to be gory thow...cant have zombies without detachable limbs

  6. what happens with the us debt owned by china then? :D

the best way to hurt china economically, (which should only be done if it supports NK in the war) would be to have US ofcourse but most importantly the EU since not only is it chinas biggest market, but the US wouldnt be alone and would be backed.

and hey, if this continues ,as dan says, maybe it will be the chinease that step in and change the regine themselves :)

  7. I wouldn't go so far as to give SK kudos.

If you let the DPRK sink your warships and bombard your towns then that is pretty much a fail, whatever rationale is behind it.

indeed, hopefully next time they will act accordingly, and no no nuclear war is going to start for the sake of north korea, neither sides supporting powers are willing to doom the world for said country

  8. Well this is 2010 :) not 2008, plus I believe if the CMSF world military spending or maybe even numbers would rise in preparation for the syrian war.

Apart from that, it seems all nations in europe are downsizing everything, I mean im spanish during the last 6 years of socialist goverment (yes I went there) our armed forces have been reduced almost every year, this year we are at 84,000, 84,000!!!! and that is just in theory...this in turn has forced me to ditch my officer/NCO training and have to wait almost 12 months (minimum 4 or 5 left and enlist as a regular...)
