Conquering England.. Death trap?
Isnogud replied to lhughes41's topic in Strategic Command - Assault on Democracy
In AoD you do not have the choice to select Egypt as captial. Only a capital shift to Canada or Australia is possible. Another pro-Sealion is that there is a possibility that Spain icreases it's axis mobilization to about 80%. I had two Sealions in my recent games (one as axis and one as allies) In both cases Barbarossa was delayed and not at full strenght. As allies I could slow down the conquest of the UK capitals, so I did not lose the carrier in production. If I get it cheap I would always go for Sealion and only destroy the production queue, then move on to Barbarossa. In AoD there seem only to be a small increase in US mobilization, so Sealion will keep the allies of mainland europe for much longer. -
If he uses Win8, he should use the latest AoD patch and run the game in win8 mode as administrator. Using compatibilty mode did slow down the game for me. Also trying full sceen on/off if there is a difference.

USA invading Japan in April 1942
Isnogud replied to Strategiclayabout's topic in Strategic Command - Assault on Democracy
I checked the scripts and it seems that the home guard will only appear from 01.01.1943 onwards. I'm not sure if you got the question if you want to continue the fight from Seoul or if that happens also only in a later point in time. -
AoD Ladder: Questions and Issues
Isnogud replied to Catacol Highlander's topic in Strategic Command - Assault on Democracy
In the panzerliga ladder this was allowed unless Poland will fall on turn one, which I think is not possible in AoD. I don't think anybody will send out a first turn which was bad. -

Captured resources - owner switch
Isnogud posted a topic in Strategic Command - Assault on Democracy
I'm not sure if this is a bug or intended. If a resource (eg. oilfield) is captured by Germany it belongs to Germany (no surprise). But if later an Italian unit enters the oilfield it then belongs to Italy. This seem to be a bug to me. If I move a Japanese unit into the oil field it does not get changed. -
I think it was quite clear that this is an Add-on with new scenarios and some improvements on the base engine. You could argue that both Addons could have been merged together and then sold for 30$. But if you buy the bundle it's only 10$ difference. I'm glad that the developers at Battlefront enhance the basic game with Addons and patches. Since these titles are no million sellers you cant expect that you'll get the Addons for free.

Isnogud replied to Bossy57322's topic in Strategic Command - World War 1: The Great War 1914-1918

Windows 8 Woes.....

I have installed the new patch 1.07 just now. Unfortunately the error: draw_map_to_screen DirectX failed: dder_exception is still there when playing in fullscreen mode. With deactivated fullscreen everthing seem to work well. Is there a patch for the patch in preparation? -
Windows 8 Woes.....

I could play the game at Win 8 as described above but now I am getting an error when I try to run it "Failed (make) 0x88880001". The demo gives also the same error. I did not change anything but maybe windows update did. -
Disable full screen mode. Does WW1 (without breakthroug) work for you on win 8?

I had the same problem after changing my video card. The utility did fix it, but how is the correct way without using up a license? -
SC WW1 and Windows 8
Isnogud replied to Isnogud's topic in Strategic Command - World War 1: The Great War 1914-1918
I reinstalled the patch with administrator rights and now the SC2.ini looks like this #ORIGINAL_SCREEN_WIDTH= 1920 #ORIGINAL_SCREEN_HEIGHT= 1080 #WINDOW_WIDTH= 1920 #WINDOW_HEIGHT= 1080 #FULL_SCREEN= 0 #BIT_DEPTH= 32 #VIDEO_ACCELERATION= 1 The game launches now but after the first screen it is not possible to start a game or load a saved one. Only the exit works. I did a new install and installed the game also new. I did get a licenencens request and that worked. I did now switch my grafix card, hope I have not to license it again since I might run out of licenses in this case. I also installed Battlefront at win 8. The game starts and can be played (it seems to be much slower) But when using the full screen mode I get an error: "draw to map screen: dirextx failed: dderr_exception" -

For me it worked to exclude the .exe file from checking in the settings of the anti-virus scanner -

I think it is possible to avoid the re-load expoiled. The game has to store somewhere hiden (maybe windows registry) if a file with a specific name or checksum has alreay been loaded. Maybe there is also an internal identification of a file. If the same file is then loaded again the counter could be raised regardless if it is the previous game file or a copy of the unloaded. It has to be assured that the counter will only be set after the replay. In rare cases the replay crashes, so you have to load the file again. I think currently this is also not counted as reload. -
Brute Force - FEEDBACK please
Isnogud replied to Big Al's topic in Strategic Command - GLOBAL CONFLICT
Well the USA did now enter the war and I am not prepared. I do not have even enough MPP to repair the ships. The convoy routes show that china should deliver 89MPP but it does not. I will try to get Hong Kong so maybe then the convoy works. -

The date is 11.10.1940. I have the version that did come with the gold game. I think China did fall too soon. On the other hand Japan invested everything against China. We'll have to see until USSR and US enters the war. -

Hi, in my latest PBEM game china surrenderd to japan. After this the japanese income suddenly drops to 58. This seems way to low. Also japan should get income from the chinese cities. Is this a bug? Greetings Falk.
