Playing this one myself right now. Came here to the forums to find out who made the map. Beautiful map. The scenario is turning out to be a classic.

My order of preference is:
Ukrainians
Russians
U.S.

For quite a while now WW2 Combat Mission was my preference. And, I do still love WW2CM but I gotta say I am blown away by CMBS! It is just so deep in terms of weapon systems modeling and the modern environment. I am already putting away money for future modules in this particular series.

I've already expressed my fondness for the Ukrainian T-64. Here it is, the least-capable of the tanks in the game. The true underdog. T-64BV.
Looks pretty bad-ass though! :-)

One of the neatest things I saw last night while just play testing a quick battle was not a tank or PC but rather a lone grenadier. It was one of my Ukrainian grenadiers firing his AK-74, then the animation went to him firing the grenade launcher attached. The detail of the artwork and animation was just so cool. Beautiful stuff.

Related to this as well, when AI troops disembark from vehicles, they grab a couple goodies on the way out the door too.
I learnt this the hard way. I knew there was a Russian sniper team in a building, but chose to drive a buttoned UkrainianBTR a good 50 yards away from the building ignoring this a non threat for the time being. Whoosh, the sniper team show themselves and fire a rocket, nailed my BTR. I proceeded to some battlefield forensics because snipers don't carry a rocket. Well turned out this AI team was delivered by a Tigr, they dismounted, entered the building and the Tigr drives away. They grabbed the rocket from the tigr.
Very interesting. Great stuff!

This is one of the things I really enjoy about the CM games. It gives you realistic tactical choices that you must make. Do I take all the extra AT equipment and have my unit not as agile but better prepared for OpFor armor? Or do I leave it in the vehicle and remain quick and agile but less prepared for OpFor armor? Firepower vs. mobility. As your fire team leaders wait during the orders phase with that "what should we do?" look. Cool game.
Same here. These games really do make you think, on so many levels.

Well, I'm not going to tell you how to run your PR because you've made it clear many times that no one tells you what to do, but keep in mind that people pay you good MONEY and in return they expect a good product and good service. It's perfectly reasonable for them to get annoyed and start to talk crap when you don't deliver.
Every product I've bought from BF has been a superb. The service I've been given by them has been spot on with no complaints what-so-ever. I've had years and years of enjoyment from their deep combat mission series of games. Any issue which may have come up, they have always taken care of given reasonable time.

Good lord what a pathetic ill informed rant. I take away only one thing from this Any idea to have this community more involved in the game development process is fundamentally flawed in that it does not take into account the immaturity and ignorance of this community for even trivial hiccups in process.
You hit the nail on the head. Key words "ignorance" and the big one, "immaturity." It is absolutely pathetic.

CMBS is on my hard drive. I have only messed around with it a little due to my obsession with a scenario for CMBN. But what I have seen is not only great but way beyond my level of familiarity (I haven't played CMSF in a few years so I don't even have and edge there). This has been true with every Battlefront game I've had the pleasure of playing. I look forward to learning about and enjoying this new game while I continue to explore the others. None of this very enjoyable experience would be possible without the vision, hard work, dedication, love of craft, attention to detail, and, maybe most importantly, thick skin of the people who comprise Battlefront and those who volunteer countless hours as beta testers. Much respect, admiration, and awe to you all.
Beautifully said. I whole heartily agree. Thanks BF!

Or you could just browse the product page for each one and check out listing of features, units etc. It is quite extensive.

For those who may be interested, last week FRONTLINE program had an episode on Putin. As with all Frontline programs, it was well done and presented. I highly recommend it for background on Mr. Putin.
Here is the link. The tile of this episode is "Putin's Way."

Frankster65,
I am glad you solved that issue with posting. I'd have hated to see you throw in the towel and we miss your videos.
What program do you use?
Thanks kohlenklau. For capturing video I use Fraps and for putting the pieces of video together into an AAR I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio. Not the professional expensive one but the smaller less expensive version.

Glad you got things worked out Frankster. The way you are adding commentary for your style of movie making is good to keep it informative while not being intrusive.
It is also handy in putting to use that big border region down below where menu interface is. That way no text gets in the way of the actual picture.

Got to be a massive circular cover arc from some unit IMHO.

A giant in the war gaming hobby. RIP sir and thank you for all the fun you've provided me.

Thanks for the update ChrisND. Looking forward to the release when it is ready and not a minute sooner.

@Frankster: nice videos, thanks!
One thing: when a tank/vehicle/gun shoots or is being shot at you always show only one side. My fingers are always itching towards the camera controls to see the other side, too.
Probably because I just wanted to show how cool looking a particular vehicle looks here. Hard to say, I don't remember anymore. Creative license...I'm always experimenting with camera angles. Stay tuned. You'll see more in the future with different camera shots than before.

Wow!! Great to see a video AAR from one of my own scenarios. That must be a first, I think.
Haven´t had time to watch all of it yet, but it looks excellent so far. Funny to see how the scenario looks without mods, though. Makes me realize just how many mods I have in my game
Do you play real time - and record everything with Fraps? If so, you must have a huge hard drive - or what?
A small correction, though: In the comments field on YouTube you say that Rainy River "is a stock scenario which came with the Commonwealth module". Not so. I made it and released it on the Repository and cmmods.
But I am very flattered that it could be mistaken for a stock scenario. Thanks a lot
It is an excellent scenario. Don't know why I thought it was stock but it definitely is good enough to be one. I only play WEGO for a variety of reasons. It does give me better control with camera positions and setting up good dramatic shots. Glad you liked it.

Wow @Frankster65 you really un-blocked the log jam there.
LOL...do you see why I was getting frustrated with the past issue now?
