  1. heck imp grunt, you stole my idea. I just wrote that in another thread lol great minds think alike
  2. I haven't yet gotten around to the new patch because it hasn't been released to us non-marine gamers yet. But from the 1.08 I think that maybe adding actual water tiles that aren't just "marshes" into the game would give the overall appearance a great boost. They don't need to be impassable but maybe knee deep so that you can't lay down in it. Smaller pause intervals - 10 seconds? 5 seconds? better response when troops come under heavy fire with some cover nearby. Instead of continuing to run and then dropping in plain view, maybe just start heading towards cover in the first few seconds they have contact. I was also hoping for a kind of a function for LOS for each squad/unit. Maybe a hotkey that enables or disables a circle around the unit that is color-coded for the line of sight. Like if I click a tank in the middle a group of buildings and push some button or something, everything that the tank has line of sight of is captured in a radar sort of thing. and everything that is out of line of sight is grey or unhighlighted. Sort of like using the target line and sweeping it 360 degrees and showing each line as a kind of map. Its kind of confusing to explain but I think it would be a great addition to the game. Oh. and i forgot. I kinda hope some special movement or Special key can be assigned to joining 2 different squads together if their squad size is really small. For instance: Squad 1 had 9 people but now has only 3 and Squad 2 had 7 people but now has 1. Maybe if I move them close together, select them both, and click a "join squads" button, they will combine. I want this because I've had some problems managing squads of only 1, 2 or 3 people in them.
  3. That.... is an awesome idea. But since i split squads only in dense urban areas and I regroup fairly quickly, I wouldn't use it a lot. There might be some problems if a team falls under fire or the team just runs straight into a tank or something. Without the right planning, they could just get killed.
  4. True yair, but i guess I like to think on my feet and get overwhelmed. haha. Sometimes, i forget about a squad for 30 minutes because they were hidden somewhere and weren't useful in my devilishly awesome plans
  5. Alright. I guess that makes sense. Thanks for clearing it up for me cuz I heard the after action contest and I thought that they could do that. If this could somehow miraculously appear in V 1.2, I think I would marry this game YAY
  6. yea. I wish there was an option turn off the timer. But as to answering your question, the pause button merely pauses all the movement on the field. You can, however, still rotate around, and move around with your screen. The best part is, you can also give orders with the pause button on so that you troops can all receive orders during the pause. Its sort of like WEGO but you get to choose when the action stops and when it starts again. I however, like to try and play it without pausing at all to simulate how realworld commanders have to think and work.
  7. I play RT more than WEGO and a couple times, I play a really interesting game that I want to save and watch again later. Is there some function in SF that allows me to watch the entire battle as a "movie" ingame or like the replay phase in WEGO? If your kinda confused about what i'm talking about, Command & Conquer 3 tiberium wars has this function. After the stats of the battle are listed out, you can choose to save the gameplay. Then, going to the main menu, you can select the game and watch it in the program from any view point you want (enemy's sight only, your sight only, "God" view). It also has fast forward but sadly, no rewind functions. This could be a really nice function for CMSF. Maybe there is this option but I've just missed it?
  8. ACtually, now that I think of it, I really would like to set my time limits. And specific maps but if I had to pick one, i would pick time limits.
  9. i have the US Ragtag mod but i combined it with other mods out there in one BIG folder so i get way more randomness The radio chatter is awesome like you said and Scipio's tracer file is also really nice and makes the game look loads better. Dull Icons will take away from the flashyness of the neon floating things during battle which is good. Oddball's sound mod makes the M4 and other guns sound not so wimpy. I combined some sounds from Oddball with some sounds from the Source mod by some1 who i forgot. te M107 mod is good if you like the black version of the sniper more than the ported version.
  10. i wish that the bailed crew (US) can only get pistols but can acquire weapons and use them
  11. no, just delete the file that you put into the Z folder.
  12. I agree and think that BF could increase customer interest time by allowing more modding to occur such as models and a few basic gameplay things such as health or whatnot. Theres a lot you can do with freedom over models. However, I really like SF as it is with a few texture mods and sound mods (the m4 was kinda weak sounding). Having a relatively medium end laptop, i randomly have wierd problems with the game drawing textures and then redrawing them when i haven't moved my screen. Its annoying but it happens on pretty low graphics settings. However, the biggest concerns for me (and any other lower end player) are the buildings. I can barely make it through a game in the city without experiancing really low framerates even when there are no troops. ITs annoying cuz i like city battles quite a bit. Previously mentiones were 3 different textures for the buildings to indicate damage and I think that is a great idea. Its simple ( i think) and it adds a whole lot of better looks when playing. I also think that roads should be improved a little and a bit more water added to the game although it doesn't need to look like RA3 water. One of the major concerns i have is with quick battle. Although its quite interesting, i want to have way more control over what map i play, how many units there are, and most importantly, what type of units. If maybe there were a new tab called Custom Games that allows this, i think some people would like it alot. So I really think investing a month into a new QB setup is a little more important than the textures cuz deep inside, its the gaming that counts, not the visuals. SF has visuals that satisfy me already as long as therea re a few mods out there with cool new textures such as the US Ragtag mod. Yea. soo. thats my 2 cents
  13. yea. I already seen and used the mod with sunglasses and protective glasses. They look fine to me.
  14. Ok. I found on the manuel that if you have a pretty big army and your "quality" setting is low, you get a sniper team with the m107. Is there a way to get sniper teams with very few units on the field? because there are just too many units on the field when they give you a sniper to make it useful at all. I'm not using scenario editor so i dont really understand the purchasing units stuff.
  15. Alright. I probably also saw them in the beta picture releases. You can find pictures everywhere and in so I thought my computer just didn't want to show them. Thanks. Also, is there a mod out there or a way to get them back in show?
  16. I've seen some pictures of soldiers in SF with goggles on their helmets. However, I when I play with the highest settings, there are no goggles on the soldiers even though the texture maps have them. Why is this?
  17. I've been playing SF for some time and I haven't ever seen the M-107 in any of the maps with any loadout (Quick Action). Same for the other sniper but I have seen it once or twice. Is there a specific loadout for the snipers or is the M107 only in scenario. If so, is there a way to put one into a quick action map? thanks JAK
