Seems I one-upped my previous flamethrower screen shot. In my battles, the operator doesn't usually see his target, just firing on suspected locations, but in this case, he did. A truly terrifying weapon.
Incensed at the loss of Oberleutnant Rausch and the wounding of his team partner and comrade, Schütze Teichert exacted a terrible revenge.

Oh Good Lord...a freaking Panther. That ain't good.
I can't recall if Sgt. Rock's comics used much German in them. Guess I'll have to pull out some of them and check, heh heh.
Nice choice of screen shots Bud. You are absolutely right about the stories telling themselves. I would start out with a simple cast of characters for an AAR using the names of the officers or squad leaders in CMBB or CMAK, and then the stories sort of took off by themselves as the game played out.

Bud,
Thanks. I was plotting moves for my troops and accidentally chanced upon this lone Soviet soldier, fallen in a bed of flowers. It was all so poignant that I felt I had to make it a screenshot. Black and white didn't do it justice, so I kept it in color.

Ah, not at all, comrade. That would be...um...defeatist...
Wait, who are those soldiers with the green piping on their hats and epaulets setting up machine guns behind our position? We are attacking, right? Grigor said they were to enhance our enthusiasm to fight for the Rodina. Hmmm.....
[Muhahahaha]

MOS,
I feel your pain. Rushed a squad of Brits across a road to overwhelm a suspected position and found...a minefield. Arrgghh. It was just as ugly as your screenshot.

Bud,
Thanks to you for the CAAR and Kohl for being your opponent once again. Looks excellent. Always a pleasure seeing these.

Bud,
What a great job you did. The screenshots were great, your venue of presentation was unique and engaging, and the storyline held interest throughout.
I still have a great many Sgt. Rock comics, along with some other interesting ones, such as Enemy Ace and Episodes 1, 2, and 5 of a comic titled Blitzkrieg, where the main characters are three German soldiers, Franz, Ludwig, and Hugo. It didn't last very long so I imagine those are rather rare. They only made 5 and I missed out on 3 and 4.
I've always loved comics and your CAAR really hit the spot for me. Thanks for all your hard work on this. It was very appreciated.

Mord, a +1 to that.
I remember reading about a battle and then playing it out on CMBB or CMAK. It was as if the words came off the pages and somehow were now being experienced in 3D. I was on the ground looking at a simulation of the actual terrain the soldiers might have seen.
I've done that with CMBN and CMRT now as well.
I recall [way back] playing an ASL scenario with desperate Großdeutchland rear guard in foxholes trying to stem the red tide of armor, and partway through the battle realizing that I had read about this very battle; it was described by Guy Sajer in his book Forgotten Solder. It was a jaw dropping moment, one I'll never forget. Now there is an RT battle that simulates the encounter. While you don't have the Soviet tanks stopping on top of the Landser's foxholes and grinding the desperate soldiers into the ground with their treads (yet, something for BFC in the future perhaps...), the game seems to capture the terror and desperation quite well.
I'd say BFC and all the great modders really enhance the immersion factor with this game. My hat is off to them.
As for Bulge, I occasionally duck back into CMAK or CMETO to get my fix of battles in the snow. I am looking forward to it with great interest. I am especially pleased that the time frame will be from Bulge through the end of the war 1945. I think it was originally planned to be Bulge-specific, with a module planned for the rest of the battles to the end. That we are getting this all in the Bulge title is especially appreciated.

Oh man! A moment of silence for the LMG gunner. He saved the squad. Someone has to go back for his identity disk...and maybe the LMG too.
Ah, I didn't see that coming. Fortunes of war.

Bud,
Yes, by all means, get that gun firing. Not sure if having an officer near them might steady them a bit.

Bud B,
I'm really enjoying your AAR just like it is. Your comic book style is great.
When I did AARs for CMAK/CMBB and Panzer Command Ostfront I used quite a bit of character development fluff to round out the pixletruppen for the battles. It seemed to make the action mean more to some of the readers and draw them into the battle on a personal level. Others...meh...not so much.
Truth be told, I get the biggest kick out of seeing anyone's AARs, no matter if they are stories or clinical. They are not easy to do in the first place, and even harder to do well.
Geez, I love this game.
Please, keep it up Bud. Oh, yes, and your cliffhangers are killing me, haha.
