  1. OOPPS..I mean Bad Moon Rising...NOT Circle the Wagons.
  2. When I play Circle the Wagon in RT or WEGO single player my game runs fine, but when I try to play it PBEM the framerate drops to nothing. The mouse response slows down and I can barely exit out. Any idea what would cause that?
  3. I think it is ironic that this particular story made it into the news the same week AFRICACOM goes on line. Not only that but they are replacing the European commands Trans-Sahara counter terrorism initiative in the area. Some sources are saying that we are becoming a presence along the African coastline most likely due to China and India's ambitions in Africa. Coincidence, I think not.
  4. "i bought my game on sunday, and after i won a total victory through syrian surrender in campain mission 1, mission 2 was still "empty". i thouhgt that was changed? i guess i dont need to DL the fix for it as the campaiin continues as normal past mission 2 even with the "old" file?" That has been fixed apparently and can be downloaded from BF. check this thread..http://www.battlefront.com/index.php?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=259
  5. I totally use the pause function. I play veteran for that reason. I don't really see a huge difference between veteran and elite, other than that pause function. Unless you are doing a small scenario, you have to use the pause button unless you are an RTS king, which most of us aren't or we would be playing RTS's not a tactical game like this. I have recently went back to WEGO because I am playing a lot of PBEM games. So it improves my skill as a PBEM player. You have to think very differently in a WEGO game. Maybe one day there will be a quarterly of halftime break in each minute to make adjustments. We can only wish.
  6. ..thanks for that tip Moon! Never thought of that!
  7. Nice work for sure, I just feel alot of these mods really don't add a ton more to the game. I had a Euro folder filled with mods and something was corrupt I suppose and my game would crash to desktop. As long as those mods aren't in the Z folder I am fine. I went mod crazy and now I am pulling back and just playing the stock game with those Mod that I know work.
  8. I wasn't at all stating the military info is always correct(that is actually funny as anyone who served can testify to), just that how do any of know what is going on, unless we are in comms with someone on the USS Howard? I am sure the military has a much better idea and the real story is most likely being kept secret. It's funny how in this thread alone there are conflicting reports. Not to mention the pirates are refuting what is happening. The things I saw coming across my desk while I was serving as a Task Group Operator certainly weren't speculative. What I saw being reported on the news, and what we were reviewing were not always in line with each other. Not disagreeing that news sources do sometimes have info, but my personal experiences showed me that the military intel we received on a daily basis was usually on the mark in accordance with world events. This was info being shared with all the admirals on down to the captains of ships. For some of us it was central to our missions wherever we were in the world. I have seen this all before. If this wasn't a US interest, then why is the USS Howard there when we haven't meddled in Somalian piracy affairs before? I was just making the point that this bigger than the news is reporting. Maybe I am wrong because I no longer have an insiders view. It's my Spidey sense working overtime I guess.
  9. I think that is true of any profession. Anyone who writes about what someone does will never be as accurate as the actual person who does the job. And lets not forget war is a very political subject. The viewpoint is always from one side or another unless they are writing a manual for operation which should be neutral. Once again, your response was an incredible read and much appreciated. Facts are often distorted in media. The real task is sorting through the layers to get to the truth.
  10. Actually to say that stuff only happens in the movies isn't actually true. I sailed on FFG??(I have to keep some of what we did secret, I am sure that's what my clearance stated..hehe) for four years. We had Seals on board and we tracked cargo ships throughout the west coast of South America. We boarded those ships all of the time. Nothing fantastic about that. And you don't believe we are tracking that ship off the coast of Somalia? Why shadow with a sub, our satellites do a much better job. Trust me, the news doesn't have to tell you the truth, it's just that we like to believe it because it is the primary source of info for those of you not screening top secret messages coming across teletypes and military communications.
  11. Man you don't know what you are missing without Marines! Marines totally made this game rock 10 x more than before.
  12. I was doing a mission involving a sniper and my sniper was in a tall building and he had LOS on an trench with 10 + bad guys hiding in it. I have never in all my time playing CMSF seen what I saw happen and I can only chalk it up to the fact a Marine was behind the rifle now and stellar changes to the engine itself. I wish I could have created a video of it. Each time on of them stuck his head up and became unpanicked, he got his head blown off. It was hilarious in a sense. One would stick his head up and get shot, a few moments later another would life his head up and BOOM! One by one they went down in a line. I eventually had a trench of bodies. I had another unit recon the trench and lo and behold they were all dead. Amazing. It goes without saying I was able to clear the board in that fashion and had a total victory. That is most likely the most bad ace moment in a game I have ever witnessed.
  13. Wow You did your homework! Thanks for the great answers to my questions.
  14. What was politically biased about Generation Kill? I didn't see that at all. Did the author inject his viewpoint, yes. But that is the difference between a book written by a soldier and on written by a Rolling Stone journalist. I think if that was his motive her succeeded and I can see it from his perspective. I am not so rooted in a philosophy that I can't see another persons perspective. But to each his own Also what was inaccurate about it? Keep in mind this was a reporters perspective. I am just curious because I am ex-mil and an avid reader of military books and I felt it was well written from the perspective of an embedded reporter. I will definitely check those books out you suggested. Didn't read Jarhead, saw movie and was unimpressed.
  15. Obviously American special forces. I have a hard time believing we aren't tracking that ship right now with our satellites. NO way these are just winding up in a mystery nations hands without our country knowing exactly where.
  16. Thanks for the book title. I just finished reading Generation Killand need another title. Any other books out there you have found interesting? Believe it or not Oliver Stones "Assassins" was pretty damn good. I had no idea he had a talent for fiction. Another awesome book on the subject of SF units is Tom Clancy's Shadow Warriors.
  17. Are you telling me that Chuck Norris's portrayal of a Delta operator was false? Charlie Sheen really wasn't a SEAL? Man I was there! Chuck and me storming in to grab those hostages, it was so covert. I still run my dune buggy with blue lights for fun. I took the ole' motorbike out yesterday and launched a few missiles from the bike at pumpkins. It was an awesome day.
  18. Do you have to deploy an ATGM to use it? I was just playing PBEM game and I had tanks in my ATGM crew's sites and they never launched. They were beyond the 500 mm min range. Turn after turn they just stood there while his tanks advanced and soon were under the 500 mm range and all was lost (Being Syrian ain't easy!).
  19. I will probably be told not to mention a product here, but as far a remotely controlling your computer, check out logmein. I use it daily to get around the firewall at work and access my Myspace at home. I love it and it's free.
  20. Isn't the SF battalion organization the exact same as a standard battalion? When I researched it, it appeared so. Correct me if I am wrong. Are you referring to the team size? If so then I guess you have a problem since there a captain leads a 12 man team and to make that team would be impossible I suppose.
  21. So then who is elite? I mean another level of experience seems overkill when there are already 4 or 5. I mean elite means you are the best. A total bad ace. Give them the best equipment and high leadership and in my eyes you have the best the game has to offer.
  22. I think he is referring to the horrendous state CM:SF was released in. Let be honest and say the game didn't receive a single good review that I read. We all know 1.10 is where the game should have been when it was released, but it's all water under the bridge now. I think everyone loves the game now and is anxiously awaiting Moro..I mean Marines.
  23. Yes, and I teach elementary math to 4th grade. Heheh. Yes 180 is more like it, maybe 170?
  24. Call me crazy, but it seems a unit w/ a Javelin, the Javelin operator always goes down first. Try entering a building and you will see what I mean. Almost always when clearing building Jav operator goes down. Good luck getting that buddy to pick up the Jav in a building. Hard enough to get them to perform buddy aid in a building, or on a roof. Dunno why that is. Maybe I am crazy.
