  1. At what point do US troops ditch their backpacks? The Market garden module?
  2. Nah, Battlefront is coming up with their own matchmaking, multiplayer server. Like Slitherine's.
  3. All the Brit squads seem to come unequipped with binocs.
  4. Oh, I just thought of another little bug. Which crept in with 1.10: German MG units now deploy instantly. No setup time required.
  5. No, I believe not. But iirc it just happens with trucks, not HTs or other transports.
  6. Stop me before I revise again! I'm considering uploading an updated version of the Commonwealth icons. They will have a deeper, more authentic khaki color. They are darker but I find the visibility to be nearly as good. :
  7. I believe the exaggerated 'rocking' is present in order to give the tanks on more naturalistic feel for the animation scale. If realistic, it would scarcely be noticeable. One thing I miss from the CM1 series is aircraft shadows. A small, inconsequential piece of chrome but in the absence of actual planes (superfluous) they added atmosphere. AA guns are cool too but they apparently poses modelling challenges although they were prominent as ground weapons in Market Garden.
  8. The poster dismisses players who obsess over graphics while demanding better graphics. Priceless.
  9. I'm starting this thread too discuss some of the *minor* enhancements and fixes which, imo, ought to be addressed. This is not about Armor Cover Arcs and major features of that nature. I'll contribute a few: * The yellow color used on the regular Cover Arc is too opaque. It's difficult to read the underlying terrain. Ditto for the Setup Zones- which can't be turned off. * Rhino tanks are still reversing through bocage. Also, trucks can back up to a bocage hedge and disembark their cargo on the other side. These exploits have been around since 1.0. Of course, these aren't a game killers and may be trickier to repair than assumed. *It would be nice not to have formation specific graphics folders without 'shared' content.
  10. Maybe. Over a couple of hundred meters these speeds come out about the same. And Fast as a pedal to the metal dash is more tiring than Quick which simulates a jog. However there's a major advantage in acceleration when using Fast, taking care that the distance is short, 50 meters or so.
  11. I'll upload 1.3 this weekend. I want to wait and see if anymore problems arise. Unlike the green to khaki icons, manipulating the grey background of the stock Heer icons is a pain in the *ss. To get a perfectly clean look you probably have to octuple (sp?), not double as I did, the file size of each unit in Photoshop. Then transform and reduce one by one, a not insignificant job. The khaki icons came out more successfully, nicely defined, imo, although the SS has proven more popular. No surprise there. I suspect that Battlefront will eventually rationalize the folder structure and come out with their own varied versions. As in Shock Force.
  12. This is the custom SS ? icon you should be getting. If you're not the an older file was uploaded in error. Since I don't really use the SS icons I'm not likely to notice anything amiss, unlike the khaki ones. I did notice there was a small error with the foxhole icon. The orange blinking one you get when selecting somehow got deleted. You get another color instead. Not sure this important enough enough to bother the Repository with right now.
  13. SS1.2 should incorporate the contact (?) icon. Unless I screwed up the files.
  14. You have to remove both the Khaki and SS brz files if you want to revert to playing Americans or Heer with historical color schemes. From the Data folder as well as the Z folder because, as I posted in the Repository, graphics mods seem to occasionally bleed from the Data folder into the Z folder. Personally I use the Khaki icons but rarely the SS ones. CMBN's file structure is quite wonky. This may change with some future update.
  15. Yep. Whatever feelings one has toward the Nazis you have to admit their gear represents the ultimate in destructive haberdashery. The SS were especially dashing. I was thinking of wearing one of their uniforms to my nephew's wedding but it might be considered, what's the french term, 'mal vu'.
  16. Foxholes in proper colors and contact icons if you're playing *against* the SS. Why anyone would want to do that I have no idea.
  17. Maybe the cure is worse than the disease. Like prescribing heavy duty antibiotics for a cold. Time will tell....
  18. 'Hans, are we the baddies?' One of my favorite youtube vids! Speaking of Villers-Bocage, that battle should really test the AFV targeting algorhythms; smoking chaos, tanks with or without crews, carriers, troops spilling tea, running around like decapitated chickens. How smart is the TacAI? Can the game really do without an Armor Cover Arc?
  19. I uploaded a scenario months ago that demonstrated, imo, that the hue and cry over 'fire porous' buildings was overblown. Units in modular buildings did more than hold their own although they did crowd around windows. What bugs me a little in my screenshot of the SS team shrugging off the attacking Brit squad is that the German team was in a plain, apparently stucco house. The kind of single family dwelling that WW2 small arms fire should penetrate like Swiss cheese.
  20. Yeah! Not to mention that mind blowing Villers-Bocage scenario that...that guy came up with. Oh wait, we don't have one.
