  1. Patton was a fascinating character. But I wouldn't want to be stuck with him between floors in an elevator .
  2. C3K, my take: if the HTs are spraying MG fire should the inf teams return fire at all? Their faces should be in the dirt, esp given the enhanced suppression effects in 2.01. Otoh, you didn't mention cover.
  3. Tits? Well, BF might have gone with 'man boobs'- to spare offense. But not nearly as ear-burning as this Patton speech. That man had a potty mouth: http://www.jacksjoint.com/patton.htm
  4. Yes, because it contradicts the earlier citation. We have to get this right!
  5. Panzerfausts like Shrecks cannot, as far as I can can determine, be fired indoors in CM2. From a website somewhere in the ether: The Panzerfaust cartridge consisted mainly of a long hollow tube, which was filled with gun powder which acted as the propellant. It was percussion ignited, meaning it was similar to a bullet which used a firing pin to strike a flint which would cause a spark and ignite the gun powder. The resulting gases would then push the Panzerfaust projectile outward, thrusting it forward with kinetic energy. The backblast of the weapon was very hazardous and could seriously injure a bystander standing behind up to three meters away. Safety regulations required a backward clearance space of at least 10 meters, otherwise the fiery gases can be deflected back, causing serious burns on the back and shoulders.
  6. What was German doctrine for using these vehicles on unsuppressed enemy? What was the acceptable engagement range?
  7. Yes! As sure as there's a God in heaven, AD. BF doesn't generally respond to questions like this. Especially if you've got a low post count. For example, '1'. Guesstimate: toward the end of the year. With the first installment of the Eastern Front series.
  8. Lying website! And, Womble, I retract my comment. Squad-level formations in WW2? Bah...
  9. Good work, Baneman. If there's something amiss, and that appears to be the case, put it in front of BF before they release the new module and patch 2.10.
  10. Just like super-agent Jack Bauer in '24', who, when cornered by unseen bad guys and compelled to get out of Dodge ASAP, used two hands to spray bullets in every direction: suppressive fire.
  11. The Axis thread once again takes the lead in # of posts. There's something significant going on here, but hesitate to venture an analysis. There are some doors Man was never meant to open.
  12. It appears this battle may have been decided at the 'let's pick a map!' stage.
  13. Actually you can change to whatever move order you want, even Assault, given the fatigue state. Which suggests it's a Real Time shortcut. It doesn't effect vehicles, I think. Unless the vehicle has smoke rounds in which case the button wall cause it to pop smoke.
  14. Must add that these peculiarities have close to zero effect on game play. But when the series gets to the Huertgen Forest they might review the deployment flexibility of on-map mortars. An inconvenience encountered by both sides was the impenetrable tree canopy in certain areas that prevented the use of these weapons.
  15. From Wikipedia: Firing the (Panzerschreck) generated a lot of smoke both in front and behind the weapon. Because of the weapon's tube and the smoke, the German troops nicknamed it the Ofenrohr ("Stove Pipe"). This also meant that Panzerschreck teams were revealed once they fired, making them targets and, therefore, required them to shift positions after firing. This type of system also made it problematic to fire the weapon from inside closed spaces (such as bunkers or houses), filling the room with toxic smoke and revealing the firing location immediately. This was in contrast to the British PIAT's non-smoking spigot mortar system, or the Panzerfaust's short burst launch system.
  16. And resourceful, too! They've learned to deploy MGs and mortars in the middle of fordable rivers and their rhino-equipped tanks can reverse thru bocage.
  17. It seems that aside from general goals BF left scoring factors deliberately opaque, i.e., 'under the hood'. This approach may have prevented a lot of anguished threads. They learned their lessons from CM1.
  18. The command exists for hectic RT battles. When you lack the time to plot a careful withdrawal. Resorting to it in WEGO is senseless, imo.
  19. Wrong. The Withdraw button can be found on the movement panel. It's a red cross just above the Fast and Quick buttons. Useful, especially, if you're a Real Time player. But it works in WEGO as well.
  20. Right. Which is why the qualification of Human player was suggested in my post. BF evidently feels that runs counter to their design philosophy. Even though, to the best of my knowledge, the AI cannot Area Fire or generate Cover Arcs or spontaneously divide into teams.
