  1. Rak: Thank you for your comment! The problem is that I only can make a PAL/ NTSC DV version. I record it at 1280*960 with FRAPS and the editing software works smoothly UNTIL you want to export it, then it crashes directly (you get a nice error message that it is the fault of FRAPS), therefore I have to convert the AVI from FRAPS into another AVI which works with the editing software. BUT the new converted files don`t run well in the editing software, yet still I have to use it, because it can be exported. When I make the videos it`s really a mess of files and because of all the issues I only can work with pieces. :-( In the end I have a 1,9 GB big AVI file in PAL resolution. I could convert this to a 300 MB file but this doesn`t look better than the youtube video. And since I`m the guy with two left hands getting a headache from encoding and converting what I have to do to make one coherent video out of the pieces... So, if I find a possibility to make them around 200-300 MB with a nice look I will upload them somewhere. But thanks for your interest!
  2. Thank you guys. I really appreciate that. Richtschuetze: Yes, that`s true. The game leaves much room for creativity. Either in the video or the mission building (modding) way. A good example is Flintlock`s screenshot gallery. It`s timeless and from time to time it still has amazing new entries. If 1C and the modders continue to put their hands on it we will have a classic. Slapaho: Thanks again! Waiting for your new video. KeBrAnTo: I`m pleased that you like the video, but isn`t it allowed to put a video on youtube? I didn`t place it to the contest channel. Webwing: Did you have to speak that out loud? Ending the work of one video is the start of a crisis for the next one. So, you can understand how I feel now. :-( And Scriba ... I will write an e-mail to you. (sexual content should be kept out of this forum)
  3. Finally I have put the next part on youtube. Hope you all enjoy it. SPOILER: One of my favorite shots is at 2:23 min, after a Pz IV got hit it`s burning, then a Pz III and a Pz IV firing the main gun (the Pz IV almost in the screen center ), then the Pz IV in the background explodes. Hm, yet it lasted around 30 times recording it to get the result . And on youtube it looks ugly as usual. Anyway, hope you all can have 10 minutes fun out of it. Regards, Michèl
  4. Don`t drink and drive. Very nice series Tartari!
  5. Hm, actually there is already a thread open about this topic. Just on the next page...
  7. Webwing, yes, with the neutral and enemy armies I understand. Actually, they are only friendlies shooting at each other in the video. Next time I will put them in Army 2 and 3 and if no placeholders are needed and they still stand where I put them in the editor, I will make a documentary about you, how you make the tutorials. About the camera movement: What you said about pre-arranging the cam sounds reasonable, but since there`s no replay feature, I think you still need to be flexible on the battlefield and pay attention where something is about to happen. Therefore I think I still have to imitate fluent cam movements with the mouse. If you know in advance that this particular tank will explode it would be fun to arrange the cam with a script. But arranging it and then try several times just to wait for an explosion is very time consuming. But I appreciate your suggestion!
  8. Thanks for your answer Webwing. But wouldn`t army 2 and 3 fight each other, while mine is just not usable? I will try to work around the placeholder thing with the way you suggested and create more armies. The camera work I do manually with the mouse while the units are moving, but what really consumes time is to put the units where you want. Even with the placeholder it`s not accurate. When I wanted to place an AT gun close to the trench it looked very close in the editor, but in the game it looked further away than the map editor showed. So you have to do much tuning. Anyway it`s a better way to create the shots that I want. (Better than using the missions like I did in the first 2 parts) Thanks again!
  9. Hi Webwing, first I want to thank you for your post at my video "release" thread. Second, I want to thank you for your thread of your video release. Although I only watched the second part of your tutorials I want to ask you, why you offer this for free? It reminds me of the Video Tutorials you can separately buy of all the Adobe stuff. Why aren`t such videos part of the software? But that`s another topic. You have done a great job! I have one particular question and thought the 2nd tutorial can help me, but it didn`t, so I wanted to download the first one, but this only worked at 10 KB\s and in the moment I guess I`m a little impatient. So, I hope you don`t mind asking you here. Probably you have noticed that all scenes in my last video were "built" by the help of the editor, but what really annoyed me was the use of a Placeholder. I don`t know why, but at first all units stood at the places where I placed them in the editor, but afterwards it didn`t work anymore and I had to use the placeholders. Then I realized that it took more time to give every unit a placeholder than just load the map and let every unit move to their places manually and then save the game at that point. BUT, this worked only fine until the game (and savegame) crashed and I had to start all over again. So: Was it only coincidence that it first worked without placeholders? Do I really have to attach each unit to one? (which is annoying especially at mass attack scenes ) If so, what placeholder I have to choose for infantry units? Since I couldn`t find any infantry placeholder I attached them to "container, AA, or whatever other unit is not on the map" placeholder but that didn`t work and afterwards all infantry started at one point on the map. I really appreciate, if you have time to answer me. Thanks again for the idea of the tutorials, really well done! If you only had posted them a little earlier, then it would have saved an "actually I never touch an editor dummy" much time to get into this "business".
  10. A "wow" from me to you all, too! It`s really nice to see that so many of you take the 10 minutes again and watch it. Dredloc: Indeed I would like to make a WW2 short-film, but I`m still looking for sponsors or a production company. :-( Of course the scale would be tiny in comparison to the ToW videos. Just two german soldiers and one american wandering around in the Luxembourgian forest after the Ardennes Offensive. ...but with one M8-Greyhound, though.
  11. Thanks for your comments! I`m really happy to hear that you liked it. Then making it wasn`t in vain. Sabai: Sorry, I`m only logged in to youtube. :-( Slapaho: Many thanks! Very nice to hear that you store the videos in a box. So they won`t get dusty. Ja ja, the next part. Actually I`m in the mood to PLAY this game a little.
  12. Thanks Wolfseven. Wouldn`t be bad to do that for a living. I think Stalingrad was shot in the Czech Republic or Slovakia. Also the most of the crew and many of the actors were from there. The director is german. (and made probably with german money )
  13. Hi all, I have uploaded the new part of the little series to youtube. Now, after the third part I really have to admit that putting it to youtube is getting hard. Realizing of what is left of the "thing" which killed so much time (and looked so beautiful once). On the other hand it`s nice that it exists at all, of course. So, again I hope you don`t have the feeling of wasted 10 minutes. Maybe it can be a little entertainment during the hard times ToW gives you.
  14. Slapaho, actually the landscapes look nice in both videos. Even the youtube version is not too bad. Although it`s very refreshing to watch the video in fullscreen. With the music I really could relax a little and enjoy the landscapes. Just finished the next part, therefore it`s nice to watch something instead of getting a headache from recording and editing.
  15. Very well Slapaho! But who shot this laser? Princess Leia??? Well done!
  16. Pad152: I have looked where I could, but were not able to find it. Can you post a link for this random campaign?
  17. Actually I had something in mind for the contest. An Outtake from the France video, if you want to call it like that. But since I`m still busy with the third part, the contest video has to wait. And then there`s another part and after that still another and ...probably I won`t make it until August 7th. ...it really would put a huge grin on my face, if the situation doesn`t change until that day. Slapaho lead the way!
  18. Rak, have you actually read my post? I never intended to do so.
  19. tofke: I saw that you live in Belgium therefore I mentioned it. Took us almost 2 hours to find it, since the NAV-System didn`t have a clue (led us to the north, direction of Liegé) and the persons we asked never heard of La Gleize. So, we really took out the old WW2 map and followed the Kampfgruppe Peiper way, just from the opposite side, through Stoumont. When we arrived there it was almost dark, so bad photos were the result.
  20. Char B1? Stuka? Both in my latest video.
  21. MikoyanPT: Always the talent to cheer things up. Thanks. The thing is, if I had access to the game development software and then any idea of how to use it and to "manipulate" the things I really could try to deliver high quality videos to you all. Like the "Kung Fu" Video in which the germans do a work out and are surprised by two or three russian soldiers. But, since I`m not a machinima artist or programmer (lacking know how and time to get this know how) I only can use what the game "offers". But from deep within I would like to entertain you all with some real magic. :-(
  22. Slapaho: As almost everyone here is an adult we all know what this "using music thing" is about. I understand BFC`s concern, therefore I didn`t add any of the videos to the contest. But, to be honest, I`m tired of the youtube videos about WW2 which use any kind of Rammstein metal music. Not that I don`t like certain songs of them, it`s just soooooooo the same. When the first german tank shows up, the metal tunes start screaming. It`s like in "Kelly`s Heroes", but way worse. For your "ears" only: If the ToW music wouldn`t be so, let`s say, MIDI like, we were able to use it.
  23. Moon: For both reasons I opened an own thread for it. As you know I already made the Poland video before the contest started, so it was always about the game and the videos to enjoy a few gameplay moments, never about winning something with it. My most important goal in making the videos (also the future ones) is to bring a little entertainment to those who like the game. If coincidentially something "happens" during the making I will post it in the contest channel. MorgTzu: Thank you, too, for your comment. But, to be honest, I don`t know how I can create a link. You mean to the AVI? (which is 1,4 GB big?) I only uploaded this ugly little Flash player file to youtube.
