  1. Hmmm ... Just a little more thing about the AMD35 P178... 1) P178 was crewed with 4 people.. not only 3 - 1 leader/gunner (turret) - 1 gun loader (turred) - 1 FORWARD driver (forward Hull, main pilot seat) and.... 1 REVERSE driver ..(backward Hull, secondary reverse pilot seat) there was TWO pilot seats on this armoured car ... so normaly the backward command is not usefull on this one... Difficult to model in a game ...i know. jl
  2. Agree with you. Most of the french infantry was wearing teh greatcoat ... looking pretty close to the first world war 'poilu' ... Some units , motorized infantry, seems to have been dressed in a different shape . Seems some "dragons portés" or mechanized troops kind of uniforms are represented in TOW ... or These french are wearing the "light uniform" ("tenues allégées") i saw some pictures about the 14th ID ( 14 eme divisions d'infanterie). Picture was showing some French infantry-men "guiding" a column of german prisoners. These infantry men were wearing quiet the same uniform as depicted in tow. No greatcot. they Could have been taken for American people if the Adrian helmet (french helmet) were replaced by an US one. jl
  3. Strongly agree with Brosset.... Bought TOW : because some French battle were included, goo opportunities to simulate them at home ... So, lets's go back to the subject: 25 mmm and 47 mm are missing in the game on the french Side ... this is too bad as these two guns were the "official" AT support weapon in the french army.... 75 mm was not the regular AT gun ... this one were used when nothing else was available ... in some desesperate situation to be franck ...75 mm first "vocation" was not in an AT role. Of course , introduction a the 47 mm apx SA37 in the game will be a terrible challenge for any German tanks ... Other point: i am not sure the performance of the 47 mm SA35 are Ok ...( B1bis and S35) ... seems to be very under estimated. I was also surprised with the ease a pack 35/36 can knock out a french tank (any model). at a range over 100 m .. this does not match the reports i have read on that period. ( these sources may not be accurate ... but when you see a Pak35/35 knocking out a B1 at 300 m ..some questionable thought occurs ... ) the solution could be to remove, using the editor, some devices from german tanks and gun in a given battle ...such as pzgrd 40 that were not available in may-june 1940... ( always from the various books i have read) Last point, if i want to have a realistic situation, i have also to remove/replace the PZ38T ... this one is given a 50 mm front armour ..instead of 25 mm ... ( 47mm sa35 is UNABLE , given the TOW performance table, to get rid of it at 100 m ... This is Wrong. JL
  4. Both were in France. Matilda I was not very effective... only machine guns.well armoured but pooly armed... 1 man turret... kind of super PZ I... Matilda II was just terrific for that period ! very Slow but very heavy armor: up to 70mm frontal (more than the B1) ... good 40 mm gun.2 men turret...no HE shells (?)   5. pfffoooooo ... Don't waste too much time with a B1 at TOW... A good swiss knife and the job is done ...
  6. First & please , apologies for my english... OK. Shame on me, my main motivation in TOW is that, at last the frogs are back !! very good graphics, may be the best i have seen up today.. good sound .. lovely lmodels of B1 r35 and so on .. only one comment on the models ... as the 75 mm gun is a towed gun ...should be represented by the same gun as for the polish .. or.. bring some horses and limber as the model represented for the french is a "hypo" tracted gun. Tanks , on the french side seems to be correctly prametrized... i cannot say the same for the guns ... - number of ammo is wrong ... 20 APHE in the B1.. correct number is 50 ! did not check for the others ..sorry. there is three french gun represented in TOW : 25 mm : this one seems to be Ok in performance . 47 mm gun : here is the shame !!! this one is able to make is way through 70 mm at 100m in the reality .. in TOW :just something like 45 mm WOW... this is completely wrong.. the 47 SA35 was known to be deadly for all german tanks of the period up to 1000 meters ..dangerous to 2000 m.. with such performance B1 and S35 tank are ... useless.. 37 mm gun : here the performances are a long way too optimistic.. more than 40 mm at 100 m in TOW ... reality was that this gun was just able of 17 mm at 100 m ...this was a joke in term of at gun ! in tOW the 37 mm SA18 and the 47 SA35 are roughly the same .. wow wow wow ... it's also too bad to not have some 25 mm and 47 mm infantry AT gun .. Let's speak about the german side ... It seems that all the guns & tanks available on the 1940 campaing gets benefit of their 1941 versions ... got a time machine ? This give PZ38t with 50 mm front armour... PAk36 with pzdg 40 !! (sorry this one was not yet available during the campaign of france) the result give very unrealistic situation ... B1 and S35 have no "punch" ... Pack 36 can destroy a B1 at 600 m !!! (it was painful for this toy to destroy even a R35 at more than 100 m in the reality... many exemple of b1, still able to fight while showing some 40 to 140 impacts on their armour... This is not "chauvinistic" this is how were the facts ... if there no 88 or 105 , if there is no stuka nearby ..if you are a german soldier or tankist and that a b1 is pointing to you : Knee and pray ... or run .. This game is so rich, despite some difficulties to 'man" the game play ... too bad. Is there a possibility to get some "real" 1940 unit ? I really think these mistakes screw up al l the game for the early periods (Poland and France) ... Regards, Jean-Luc
  7. hello, i am trying to install it on an old imac i kept for my son ( my flat is becaming an apple museum as i never resell or scrap my old computer ) it seems to work .... as fast as can run a snail but it works... think that the problem commes from my system ... macos or the expander... or both ... never mind the time it will takes ....(very long i guess ) will wait until the istallation complete on the "papy" imac then download it on my current one ... just have to knee and pray thank you to al for your answers Jean-luc
  8. hello ... tried to copy the fiels from the cd on the hard disk then to lauch the install ..... same results. (copied file 693 meg became a 79meg folder once "expanded") downloaded new version of stuffit expander ( 703, precious was 5.5) :same result... the three folders seems to be not recognized when i try to expand them with stuffit .... i drag the icon to the stuffit windows ..and nothing happen.... H E L P
  9. Hello After a first problem (received a windows cd instead of a macintosh cd) let me explain you my second one ... i am in trouble to install CMAK on an E-mac G3 400 mhz computer. MAC OS 9.0.3 with 256 meg ram the problem looks like the one described in the trouble shooting CMAK page (install issue) : "cannot run CMAK because openplay is missing " after 6 to 7 install tentatives (including trying to install an english version) i tried to move the openplay icon from the CMAK DEMO folder to the CMAK folder and lauch the game : results : black screen then crash no error msg. ( had to close the computer abnormally) i tried the second solution : double click on the DATA4 icon... as described little problem : there is no Data4 icon on my CD ROM.... :confused: there are 3 installers (english, german , french) 3 "read me" ( 1 per language ) one data2h icon, 1data2c icon and 1 data3 icon and that's all... looking in the CMAK folder i only find 200 (two hundred exactly ) bmp files , no wave folder .seems that all these BMP are related to dashboard button or indicators... compared to CMBB it makes a big diffrence and obviously the install does not run to the end... hard disk check : 4.33 GB are available. CMAK DEMO works perfectly (not kiding) so i do not think taht i have a problem of ram or video... hmmm , buying a pc is not an acceptable solution .... HELP.
