  1. well I have one in the works that is a rust color. I was thinking a tri camo or hasty, I dunno, Something not often seen
  2. PZ IVg mid in dark or tri color camo for CMBB/CMAK DEY has a nice one, but it seems to be the only one and a lighter color. Also looking for winterized grau SPW 250's for CMBB
  3. Yes I know many of these look familiar. I did some tweaking and remarking to give the sealion and BFC mods some better looks. I also utilized markings from Andrew TFs 250 to help make them fit the eastern front better. There are so few SPW 250 grau mods on the cmmods for CMBB, I thought I would make a pack to cover someone (me) in need. If anyone out there has a better set from before the crash or a full winter set plz do me a favor and upload it. Or maybe winterize what I have here. Would love to see some grau 250's like Pat's grau 251's The mod has blanks for your own to add unit markings, A GD marking option and is default with SS markings. Also has AR flag optional. Pack has all Grau SPW 250's in one pack. Obviously the pack can be used in CMAK for the units that appear in that version, but some renumbering may be necessary. I have yet to check. Enjoy! -Cabe
  4. well the new round just fired and landed about 3 feet behind the tiger. If it did anything I can't tell. I am not getting any signs its immobile or such. Still targeting though
  5. well i had the avre fire at a space behind a tiger. it made the tiger back up, actually to now where his butt end is sticking out from between the 2 buildings, I cannot actually target him, still says blocked, so gonna put a round on the pavement right behind him. The second round before the tiger backed up landed on top of a 2 story building, it damaged it, have no idea if anyone was up there, but the avre is pretty damn inaccurate. can be off by about 20-30 yards past, but i have not seen one fall short or to the sides but slightly earlier the other avre threw a round at a panther, i noticed nothing, but as i said it was during him nebelwerfering the crapola out of himself.
  6. Yeah, I am running with one for first time right now. he is hidden well for the time being
  7. Well that's a real shame. I was hoping that AVRE would at least give the allies a brummbar type unit, but it does sound like the AVRE is just too expensive to risk the minimal armor, effects and the range needed to get any shot off anyway. Sounds like a croc is the go to for the big buy assault tank. Instead of avre would almost be better to tow a 17 pounder or howitzer around. Heck even the SP autocar.
  8. Yeah, I don't know the extent of the damage he received from his own barrage, but he had at last 3 assault guns a tiger and a panther out there with the spotters ect in the building. He literally was just 100 yard in front of me when they came down, not one round made it near my forces.
  9. Interestingly enough it did fire. But at the same time he had fired an off map nebelwerfer barrage, and well....my explosion was lost in all the rockets falling short on his tanks, troop and building. he has to be tad pissed right now.
  10. I'm trying , the 2 panthers and Stu42 are keeping me from LOS
  11. yes, search by designer under CMBB at cmmods. Look for RocketMan>all>terrain>there they are
  12. 250M eh? Yeah that might be it. I was pretty close but may have been just over 250m. I will take a look on the next turn/load an old turn ect. Thanks
  13. Hmmm, I have one in my current battle against 1945 axis armor, what does that 75mm translate to in UK terms? a 6 pounder?
  14. yes, I changed my forum name because my previous user name "Cabe" was taken on EZboard forums when I registered to be a member of the Band Of Brothers, so to keep everything under the same name I had to make my Ezboard user name "CabeBooth", while here it has been renamed "Cabe Booth". Sucks, since all my posts and mods are under the name Cabe but it shouldn't be too hard for folks to make the connection, plus I have only been posting and modding for a month or so. Thanks for the reply, yes I have lost many AVRE in a single shot. They don't hold up well. Well even if they immobilize the tanks, with stugs and other no-turret model AFVs that is just disastrous. So I will watch and learn. I have 2 of them so this might be the most expensive loss in m gaming history or a stoke of great luck having immobile tanks to flank and shoot in the butt. I have yet to try the Croc, I am wary of it's range, I know it is far, but how far? Even told in numbers, until I see it on a map I won't get a true feel for its effectiveness.
  15. I am playing a game that has an AVRE. Since every other game I played with one, the AVRE was taken out before it could fire I have yet to see this beat unload a round. In the current game I have a hull down AVRE that has line of sight to an area that has a 2 buildings with a stug between the 2 buildings and a brumbar to the side of them, and I am sure he has spotters and inf in there as well. Well I targeted some open ground right between the two buildings and it never fired. I had the blue line of site and the target clicked. It didn't fire the whole round. I check its ROF and it is rated "very slow". CMDB says ROF of 2. But I have yet to see 1 round go off. During this time the brumbar and other tanks were demolishing some small light one story building in general area in front of the AVRE. Could the dust be preventing the AVRE from firing the round even thought it acquired the target before the dust became an issue? After waiting 2 round I re-targeted in the same spot and I am hoping on my next round that the round will fire, otherwise I am perplexed as how to light the fuse on this big boy. So what is the possible problem here? DO they need to be unbuttoned or?............. Secondly, If the round does go off and land about 15 yards in front of the stug between the two buildings (@2 story). What kind of effect do I expect to see? A dead or immobilized stug, 2 blown up buildings and a damaged brumbar (it is on opposite side of building from blast). Or will I just have a big boom and dust? Generally if an AVRE mortar round goes off near a tank what does it do? What does it do if by chance it lands on it? Stug? Tiger? Panther? Do they lose tracks or get blown away or is there even a routing possibility? I know my opponent may read this, but by then it will be too late. I don't think they have the internet in the afterlife
  16. I work as a portrait artist for Large music venues. I used to fancy myself a ww2 airplane artist, but with the band portrait thing taking off I have no time really to do anything but paint them every day. I have Nokia Theater, Palladium Ballroom, Curtain Club and Pizza Hut Park all having me paint all the performers that come through. I was up until December doing 5-13 paintings a month which gave me time to goof off. But in January the Agency that handles Nokia Theater (AEG) took over the Palladium Ballroom which almost tripled my work load. So now I do around 18-25 a month at a rate of about one a day if I can keep my stamina up, otherwise I start to fade and it can get pretty hairy around here. I am usually in bed by 11am and up by 4 or 5 to get back to work and make my PBEM moves, the girlfriend sits in the other room and grumbles about my lack of free time, but it is slowly killing me too. They are all 4x4 oil paintings and I have been doing it since about 98 . I did get a degree in Painting and Drawing at UNT but I never thought I would actually be making a living doing it. My website has not been updated in about 3 years which is unfortunate because so many acts and better paintings are not on the site. If I could learn how to do it myself, that is if I had the times and inclination it would be updated regularly as I do paint so many a month. I do work from home and love to play PC games. Finding CM has been a godsend because I found a game that I can PBEM and work while I do it. Plus I actually love the game which helps immensely. I wish I had more time for the aviation art, I really enjoyed it. It was hard to sell and didn't pay the bills though. So the band art has become my field. Plus since I worked a lot in band booking and management for about 13 years it was kind of a natural fit. I will post some examples of my aviation art here. Take a peek. Of course they are for sale and around 4x4 feet except Sakai, he is sold to a musician friend.
  17. I know your pain, being an artist myself I wanted and needed more work, now I have so much work that I don't have weekends anymore. In fact even returning moves and modding the game has hurt my work time. Just need to have a week off before I drop dead. So many things I want to mod and still need to finish modding CMBB. Just can't get a break though. I will sit down and make that mod file sorting template though, hopefully in the next few days. Just every time I sit down to mess with CM I start to feel really guilty that I am not working, then the stress kicks in and...
  18. Glad you understand. Now we can get back to the game at hand. Maybe I can win this one. But what am I going to do? the units are preset with random reinforcements....... I need an army of halftracks to do any good against your elefants
  19. whoa whoa, Cargol. No No I wasn't accusing you of cheating at all! It was not our game that I had this event occur, even though you did have a kill on one of my shermans with a tank hunter crew... (2 in in fact grrrrr.). I am playing 7 PBEM games right now and I have had over 20 different opponents and I use similar strategies since I am learning to play UK units right now. I am playing GaJ with a German DAK loadout in a scenario, but all my other games are similar to the one we just played except the map. What happened in our game sounds similar to what I described but I have played enough games with you to know you are just a very good player and have beaten me every time time fair and square. I assure you I was not referring to your game we just finished. I have bought similar load outs on many of my games because I have been trying to figure out the best way to use UK units and hauling around the 17 pounder gun. When we play I have asked you via email for tips and advice as to what I am doing wrong and you have answered, I never thought of you to be a cheater or bad guy. So if my description sounds like our game I assure you it was not. The incident that occurred with your Tank hunter crew occurred because most of my HTs were shocked or blocked due to scattered trees and your assault gun had them scurrying. I knew exactly what happened there. I got my tank to close and got whacked. I never thought it was cheating when I had it happen with this other player it seemed very superhuman and it just made me wonder if there was cheating in CM. I wanted to know because i get many emails from around the world when I post here requesting PBEM opponents and I don't want to get burned by a hacker, if they even exist. I assure you the event that made me think this was not in our battle. It was against another guy I have played only twice and he sort of dropped out of playing halfway through the second game. He claimed to be a newbie to CMAK and was playing German vs. UK like us. Please Cargol, understand in no way would I ever accuse you of cheating, I have played you enough to know you would never have to cheat to kick my butt. And I have yet to win. I sincerely hope you understand that it was not in reference to you or any of the other members I am currently playing. The guy I was playing has not emailed in a few days and seems to have vanished. He was a good player, and most definitely had nothing to do with cheating, just a good player, but just seemed to go on vacation or just too busy to play right now. Let me make it perfectly clear that I have not and will not accuse anyone of cheating or tilting a game. I don't know enough of what units and good opponents are capable of to make such a call. My original post was only meant to ask if there were people out there that cheat, and if they do what does it allow them to do with the cheat. -Cabe I must add this edit to the end, I sincerely apologize for anything I may have written in the forums that you thought was referring to our game or you as a player and a person. I have great respect for your ability to play and wouldn't have any negative reaction to getting my ass kicked by you other than cursing out loud as I watch the "we go phase. It is all a learning experience to me right now, and I don't have room to whine about my lack of strategy. Every loss is a learning experience for me. Especially when is happens the same way in 6 similar games. So please Cargol let me offer my apology to you. I wouldn't want you to think I was accusing you of anything but great strategy I also want to apologize for the thread and reactions that cause this whole mess in the first place. to everyone in the thread, even JasonC. I don't want to walk into this community with everyone thinking I am a complete ass or sore loser that has to explain away my losses with conspiracy theories. even seeing Cargol's post here makes me realize that my other thread could have had any number of my current opponents thinkings I was accusing them since the battles are very similar in units and outcomes. I know my place here and just want to learn and help. I plan to mod when I have time and help folks that are new if I have an answer, but I definitely don't want to start a stressful thread that has to have a moderator be involved. I am just not familiar with the nuances of the boards and being new I got very sensitive when I felt like I was being attacked. So to everyone, my apologies. 20. I wanted to make a request, Can you make a PzIVG Mid in tri camo please? I need one for CMBB. Looking for a one with gelb BMP numbers. I have doe some searching and I am having no luck on many Gel mods. There are some nice ones, but I am looking for something more like your tri camo work. Thanks! Oh and the tiger looks great
  21. Ok, good to know. Now maybe I can fix the problem so I can use your mod again. I miss having the angles shown to me without having to get down low like I am shooting a pool ball to see my LOS.
  22. I guess the big thing with cmmos is the lack of cmmos mods for CMAK. When dealing with CMBB you are going to get a lot of mods, just from the extra mod disk that came with the Anthology. I have the same version. There are several excellent modders out there MikeyD being one of them. You may find yourself with a new and very time consuming hobby. I actually enjoyed going through CMMODS and comparing all the mods and picking the mods I liked best. I uploaded a file to cmmods the other day that has all the units listed in the game for both CMBB and CMAK, it is just a mixed bag of tables and charts found on different websites and stuff that people sent me. It has modding tutorials and all the BMP numbers for stuff in the game. Would be worth looking at. If I were to suggest mods off the top of my head: For terrain: I would grab all of Juju's stuff (Just look on cmmods and search by designer) Don't forget to get his modslutsmack weapons pack that mods all the small arms in the game, it is amazing. MikeyD has his rubble and some very nice tree bases and other terrain files such as roads and a nice pack a low rez "doodads" (those are the things that are 3d on a terrain surface like grass blades, gravestones, rocks, brush ect.) I use them myself. ED's buildings, I know some of them are on the mod disk, also he has very nice tree sets. Green as Jade (GaJ) has a lot of nice additions to terrain. When it comes to the base terrain that everything sits on, you have to decide what you preference is, gridded on non gridded. Topo or non Topo. Super realistic or clear and unobtrusive. I have a list I will set down and make of what I used at some point. I like my terrain to look nice but not too cluttered. A very nice terrain pack is the "Fallweiss" total conversion by pat, if you like super realistic. terrain mod. Strontium Dog has some great mods on your mods disk that came with the Anthology plus make sure to see what else he has on the CMMODs site. Check caffino's gridded terrain packs Then check GaJ topo terrain packs Then Look at Rocket man and GaJ gridded topo terrain (very nice for showing elevation.) my apologies to anyone I left out, I just woke up and I am not a coffee drinker. It gives me the.... well never mind. The best way to do this is to use MCMMM and just insert these mods as you download them, fire up them game with proper weather and season, look at what it does and If you don't like it just use McMMM to pull it out and pop another one in until you arrive at a look that is ideal to you. I like my terrain to look real but keep the ground clutter minimal. I hate not seeing an obvious AT gun just because I have my screen coated in foliage and such. As to sound mods, I have not messed with them much as I find them game's sound to be satisfactory as is. I would definitely get Tarkus's Dark steel interface mod for CMBB and the Olive interface for CMAK. They are great. When it comes to infantry nobody beats Andrew TF or "AF". All his infantry units should be on that mod disk that cam with the anthology. Any gaps like missing winter units have been filled in by David Inglett so make sure you get them all covered. After that you want JorgeMC's helmets. they look fricking great, I accidentally discovered them recently and they make the infantry units look 100% better. Once again I cannot stress enough have a list of all the units in the game so you can check them off as you mod them. Vehicles are a matter of personal choice. Since cmmods crashed awhile back, many of the mods were lost and you will have to use what you can find. When I was modding CMAK units, if I couldn't find a winter mod for a certain unit I would search the cmbb files and download one there. Sometimes you will have to change the BMP numbering to make it match cmak, but like I said, it is a hobby and those charts I uploaded to CMMODS will help you in that area when it comes to finding the correct numbering for each unit. Great unit modders to look at are (with name abbreviations included): MikeyD David Inglett or DI Gautrek or Gaut Hienz baby or HB AndrewTF or AF Panzer Martin Gurra Daffy or DEY Corvid Gordon E. Molek or GEM Micheal Stuart or MLS Junk2Drive or J2D Wicky M Bergman or MB Pat Navy Limey ah well too many too list many more, but those are just off the top of my sleepy head, I hope folks will add to that list so I don't offend anyone who has got great talent It took me forever and making a lot of annoying posts to figure out how the numbering system works for both games. A great place to start is the Band of brothers website and get the charts there. They are also in my pack I uploaded to cmmods, but you can grab them as you need them here http://webandofbrothers.de/tablescharts.htm Just go down the vehicle list (the are excel files) and check them off as you go. I would highlight the font of the unit name to green when I had found a mod for a unit and put and asterisk in the next column to let me know that I had found a winter mod for it. Kept me sane during the process. If I didn't find a mod for a unit I would change the font to red. And for all I had not checked yet they would be in default black. For CMAK you will need a mod for: Africa/Crete units Italy units and then a winter mod for the unit since the games do not have winter mods installed by default. Desert units obviously don't need companion winter units. So I made a file of each theater, and going down the charts from Band of Brother's site I knew what unit mods I needed for each theater. Some units that appear in Africa do not appear in Italy because they were phased out, and conversely some Italy (or ETO) units don't appear in Africa because they just were not developed yet (or used) at all). So what I did was make a folder for each theater like this: "Axis Italy" with a sub folder for the Italians and Germans. "Allied Italy": with sub folders for UK (would include all commonwealth units since all British empire units and allies share the same mod bmps) and and a US folder. then repeat for, "Allied Africa" "Axis Africa" "Allied Crete" you will do very little modding here because these units are the same as Africa "Axis Crete" same as Africa as you mod you will find that for most part what you have installed or modded for US in Africa will be exactly the same mod for US Italy which saves you a lot of time. after I did that I went down the Band of Brothers chart "Unit Availability List for CMAK" http://webandofbrothers.de/downloads/Unit_Availability_CMAK.ZIP and made folders for each unit in each theater folder. Then I went to cmmods.com and did a search for each unit picking and choosing what I liked. As I did this I would mark it off on the excel chart as I mentioned above. If I had any doubts as to the quality or look of the mod I would insert it using McMMM fire up the game and decide if I liked it or not. If I didn't find what I was looking for in the CMAK section of cmmods, I went to the CMBB section and grabbed something there. Sometimes having to change the bmp numbering system to make it work in CMAK, sometimes they don't match but you can tell by looking at those charts and exploring the unit zip file to see the bmp numbering used in the mod. When you decide to mod CMBB use this chart http://webandofbrothers.de/downloads/m8g_bmp_list_vehicles_cmbb.zip It is time consuming, but it is fun to look at all the great work out there and pick your favorite. That is just how I did it. Everyone has their own way of doing it. Heck you can even get McMMM to download mods for you, read the McMMM documentation for info on this. I might sit down today and make a template of the file system I used in case anyone wants to save time making all those folders for each unit. I don't even know if anyone would use it, but It would at least be a good way to get a mod database organized and rolling for people starting out. sorry for being so wordy, but i remember a month or so back when I had the same questions about modding the games. Hopefully people will correct or remind me of anything I left out [ April 09, 2007, 04:16 PM: Message edited by: Cabe ]
  23. yes, I have pretty much settled on McMMM since it is so simple to use. has some glitches now and then but it seems to be something i am doing while removing mods without letting mcmmm know about it first
  24. the "Combat Mission Barbarossa to Berlin" book for sale here on the BFC website is a very handy book for those just starting out, it is the game manual and is very thorough. The PDF game manual that comes on the game disk can be very annoying to access (but thank god they are included), so if you don't plan on buying the book, i would copy and paste the game manuals to your hard drive so you can Alt-Tab out of a game if you need to look something up. I wouldn't advise trying to print out the game manual on your printer or at the local copy shop. Mainly because it will eat your printer cartridges at about a cost of a new cartridge (which you could buy probably 3 of the CMBB game manuals off this site for the same price of a cartridge).... and Kinkos quoted me over $90 for a color printout of the PDF manual...nice huh? So for I think 3 dollars and the cost of shipping you can have a 262 game manual for CM. And since both CMAK and CMBB are 99% similar excepting a few details like the "Human wave" action in CMBB, you basically get a manual that will be a resource for both CMAK and CMBB. Just goto the the home page of www.battlefront.com then click on "products" and scroll down until you see "Barbarossa to Berlin" replacement game manual. It is worth the investment to have a hard copy of the manual in your hands. http://www.battlefront.com/products/cmbb_manual/cmbb_manual.html When it comes to mods we would probably need to know if you decided to used CMMOS or McMMM (another more simplistic mod manager found at cmmods.com , I like to use it until i can get the time to figure out CMMOS) to apply your mods, Or if you are just going to install them directly into the BMP folder overwriting the original mods files. Which I would definitely back up my BMP folder before doing anything like that. I could tell you what mods I use but I would need to know how you plan on applying them.
