  1. I was playing the R.U.S.E beta and it's not bad at all, even considering that It's just a RTS. The two features that i love more is the posibility to play a 4vs4 Multiplayer game, and record (save to a file) the whole battle. I think that i will buy every module of CM Normandy, if the long term plan (in two or three years) is to get multiplayer "team" suport, and also the "replay" feature for the whole battle. Those two are part of my wet dreams, with a WEGO TCIP game... too bad thar R.U.S.E is a simple RTS, without the nice WEGO. Another impresive thing about R.U.S.E is how they managed the "level of detail" of their terrain when you move the camera close to the ground level... the cons are the lack of positioning flexibility for the infantry in the urban areas. But the game is plenty of "eyecandy".
  2. My signature isn't about the blue bar... i've pached my game, and i didn't played at all CMSF untill the blue bar was back, so... i know. My signature is about both: TCP/IP WEGO & PBEM WEGO. Those are the most clever features ever done in a tactical game, and i will always support them, so my signature will keep unchanged until year 2058 or may be 2059 (just guessing my maximum lifetime here).
  3. ... there are many threads asking for bones and pushing towards an early release of the game. My point is that i want just the oposite... i will be happy if CM: Normandy isn't released in 2010, because it means that they will have time to change a lot of thing to add more features to the CMSF "layer" and bring back some of the good old ideas "still" availabe in CMBB & CMAK that aren't here anymore (doesn't matter if they will change them to improve them, i'm not asking for a copy of the old QB system, but for a good design with lots of development time to betatest different approachs).
  4. There are too many thread asking for the status of CM: Normandy. My opinion is that the more that it takes, the better... I still consider a lot of features in the old CMx1 aka CMBB or CMAK, better than the current CMSF. If we want a CM: Normandy as good as the old games, they will need a lot of time in development. They can't rush development and expect a good Quick Battle design. (and that's only an example). CM: Normandy, needs to be much better than CMSF in a lot of areas, and a lot of development TIME is the only way.
  5. I'm just curious... What says the maketing expert?, will be recomended to try a game launch for the 6th of June of 2010?. Will be possible to include atleast 2 players cooperative mode if Battlefront delays a bit more the game launch to last quarter of 2010?. It's even considered cooperative play at all for the first module launch after the main game release?, or it will be a much latter thing due to implementation complexity?. I will be very very happy if the cooperative feature is considered for the first module, but i will be also very happy if the main game release is delayed some months to include a nice QB system that considers "future" cooperative play compatibility in the design, the posibility to expand cooperative play in future modules even if we doesn't "see" the results until a latter module that enables the feature, will be a great notice about the quality of the final product. May be it's a pain to code the new QB system, but doing it with no cooperative extensibility in mind, may be will lead to a lot of code rewrite the day that cooperative play it's considered.
  6. This is a "must" for good WWII night combat, even if this feature alone, delays CM Normandy another 6 months.
  7. I'm in this side of the customer spectrum... Minors, please!.
  8. Thanks for the bone, graphics looks good, (more than enought for the next 10 years, at least for me). If it comes with "the blue bar", WEGO, & PBEM... it will be a great family of games. If it also comes with all the previous, plus a good QuickBattle design... it will be greater than CMx1. If it also comes with something like 2vs2 player support over TCP/IP (wego)... it will be the greatest family of games ever published by Battlefront by a wide margin!. ... Is better to wait more months past 2010, if they consider to improve and increase some of those features. P.S: I'm just dreaming with the year that Battlefront anounces the full feature list posted here, and some "Record Track" feature, to save the whole battle as a interactive track, like in IL2 Sturmovik, or Company of Heroes.
  9. I was asking just for a screenshot... and all this stuff discussed here, has no sense. We only have a screenshot of a Tiger... and will be nice to have one of a Sherman.
  10. Just 1 screen shot... Something of the allied side, please!. What about some shermans in the prairie?.
  11. I'm really interested!. If the game provides the QB model of CMBB and CMAK i will buy it... in other case, i will not. That's because i'm mainly a PBEM WEGO player... so my interest is to play with other people those kind of QB.
  12. After british module, What's next?... Wich one of those european armies equiped with exclusive automatic infantry grenade launchers it's in the plan?. Germany, Russia, Spain, Italy... [...] The in-service first-generation grenade launchers developed in the 1960s through the 1980s have similar characteristics. Their effective firing range is 1,500 m (LAG 40 SB-MI, Spain) to 2,200 m (HK GMG, Germany), their caliber (not russian models) is 40 mm, and their weight (mount inclusive) is 40 kg and more. During this period, the AGS-17 Plamya automatic grenade launcher was adopted for service with the Soviet Army. Today it remains in the inventory of Russian and a number of foreign armies. Until recently, the AGS-17 has been the lightest automatic grenade launcher (weighing 31 kg with the mount). It engages targets by the 30mm fragmentation grenade at a range of up to 1,700 m. Despite a smaller caliber, the 30mm grenade has a higher effectiveness compared to foreign ammunition. For example, the VOG-30 fragmentation grenade body is 60 percent heavier than that of the M384 grenade (USA), while its effective lethal area is 50 percent larger, as shown in the diagram below.[...] From: http://warfare.ru/?catid=278&linkid=2087
  13. Notebooks aren't gamers ring... actually they are designed for web surfing, and you can't run CMSF on it... 32bit or not, (and when they will... they also will be ready for 64bits). I know that the limit is per process... so a modern game will be heavily limited by a 32 bit OS in the years to come... since the games have a lot high detailed textures that are swaped in and out, from the RAM to the GPU memory system... the number and size of those textures are growing and growing in each game release, reaching the limits of 32bits virtual memory addressing... the model is about to DIE in a mater of very few years (for the new developments to come). The games of the next year, will be more and more leaned to take the adventage of more RAM in his process. 64bits OS are coming, and they will stay... the migration will be more fast than anybody suspect since the CPUs were ready for that 64bit OS, several years ago. To keep you old 32bit OS in your 64bit CPU is a waste of resources that has no sense when all the new sells of Windows 7 will be in 64bits as default starting this October.
  14. Microsoft will jump in with both feets, this October... Windows 7 on any pre-installed PC that you buy will be running the 64bit OS version... you can't get a Windows 7 with 32 bits preinstalled on any new machine... unless you as customer request it!. So in October 2009 any new PC that you buy with windows preinstalled, will have the Windows 7 in his 64 bits version... Considering how many people needs an upgrade of his gaming ring... in the next two years, 80% of the "gamers" will run a 64bit OS. Even the people that have actually a 2 years old CPU, can run a 64 bit OS... the hardware was there a lot ago... it's only a OS optional upgrade for older machines, that will be requested for the game industry developers, to jump over the 4Gb RAM limit constraint in the next year's main tittles (max specs only, not minimum specs). Then... CMx2 will be available in 64bits in the next three years? when we reach almost 99% of 64bits OS penetration in the gamer's ring?, that's 2012.
  15. The problem raises with huge scenarios, with many units, when you have a big amount of orders placed... Yes... i know that this is not the intentional desing of CMSF, but if i have a lot of RAM i want it being used, not limited by 32bits code constraints.
  16. In CMSF i get many out of memory errors in big battles. My operating system is Windows XP 64bits... and i have a big amount of ram... Will be CM:Normandy's executable compiled to handle unlimited GigaBytes of RAM over 64 bits Operating systems?. In the next two years the 64bits operating systems will be running in more than 80% of the world's personal computers. For example, windows 7 will be sold pre-installed in many computers, and microsoft will encourage the 64 bits version, since all the new CPUs are ready for 64 bits... the 4Gb constrainf of 32bit operating systems will make them a dead plataform for games in the next two years.
  17. Sure!, It's a very desired feature... we hope to see that!.
  18. 1st September 2009 = 70 years since 1939, first day of WWII.
  19. A much better option to "watch" a movie... can be an option to record an entire multiplayer battle into a file (track), like you can do in Company of heroes with 8 players, or Il2 Sturmovik with 32 players... You can download and watch the best tactical matchs Player vs Player in a single file and play it!.
  20. Yes, i also think that 6th of June 2010 is the correct release date. That gives time to release it without a bag of bugs, and with enought features to be comparable side to side with CMBB and CMAK.
  21. May be a stimulus check isn't the only solution. People that "love" this kind of work, can be pleased to be part of an interesting project / proposal. He should drop an e-mail to panther games... may be he can hire the WHOLE panther games staff... (actually only 2 guys): http://www.panthergames.com/People/index.html They can be involved in two main projects exclusively at full time: 1) Platoon TacAI. And when they finish that milestone: 2) Design of Combat Mission Campaigns for CMx2, or atleast... the input/output data interface, and SDK to allow third parity design easily. Consider it... is just an e-mail, what can you lose?.
  22. The latter that it comes... the beter for us: the players. We expect a product with a similar number of features than CMBB or CMAK, nothing less, will be satisfactory... since we aren't graphics whores, and eyecandy is not the main thing in a wargame at all!. We can keep playing CMBB or CMAK for ages, until a new product equals those two products.
  23. That's mainly because the ones that Died... can't write a book about how accurate was the hit that killed them. Those books tell only the lucky side of the history, but they are far from being serious historical reference books. The same can be said of any WWII soldier memories... those accounts can't give you a good idea about the reality. Historicians usually needs a background of more than 50 years to bring any serious and realistic study. Bias is a natural feature of any human mind.
  24. Yeah, the hollywood version, is a more accurate account... CM should be based on movies. African conscripts are so stupid that they can't hit an elephant at 10m with a shotgun canyons cut... i have also heard that those people are so starved that they are almost blind at ranges over 5 meters. /sarcastic mode off
