  1. Thanks guys! The maps in the QB packs are all fictional - but they're designed to represent typical Italian landscape types; the rural ones have rolling hills, fields of crop and small patches of olive groves, a type of landscape commonly found in the province of Lazio and Molise-Abbruzzo-Marche provinces on the Adriatic Coast. As some of you may have discovered by now, olive groves provide for some interesting tactical challenges - mainly because of how they affect LOS/LOF. The fighting at San Pietro, Monte Cassino and in the Liri Valley took place in Lazio, while the Eighth Army fought east of the Apennine Mountain range in the other provinces mentioned. Some QB maps are of the "Hills" type, with rocky and brushy terrain that hopefully will work well to represent the mountainous area where figthing took place. A few maps are flat and criss-crossed by canals and ditches - those are primarily intended for the Anzio area. I haven't done any QB maps that represent Southern Italy specifically - you may of course use the maps as you see fit, but there aren't any typically Sicilian landscapes in the QB packs. Yet. In the updated/revised v2 of QBPACK I I'm finishing up right now –as in the following packs -there will be tips for which province/campaign/operation the QB maps may represent.
  2. Some answers; Yes, the bmp:s have names that let you easily identify them - like "Mountains West" or something similar... To get them back into game; 1 - yes, that's one way that will work 2 - no, don't think that's a good solution. It might work, but it's a bit confusing, since it reall only contains the bmp:s for the horizon (and not of all the other stuff that's in the original v100B file). 3 - yes, will also work
  3. Yep, a bit somber or perhaps ominous... Starts out rather low volume and rises. Same track for all files. It's Wagner if I remember correctly, so no, no Italian marching songs.
  4. Well thank you yourself for your hard work with all the weathered/dirtied mods - those will surely be remembered as classics by the community! Using them all!
  5. Truly excellent mod this! Adds to the immersion a lot - thanks!
  6. Now available at GAJ's Combat Mission Mods Warehouse Alternative Music for the Italian Campaign Mod. Unzip and put in the Z folder (or drop in the sdp_ITA basic pack folder to change the music "automatically" when you play battles with the Italian Mods activated.) Get it here; http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods/4561/details
  7. You'll find the bmp:s for the horizon in "...\b\terrain\skybox\mountains" once you exploded the "Normandy v100B.brz". The entire horizon is made up of 4 different files (actually there are three sets with 4 files each for clear, haze and thick haze). Each bmp measures 2048x256 pxls. I made one very long horizon measuring 8192x256, pasted actual photos from Italy into one picture and then split it into 4 individual parts. You have to be very cautious when you make the 4 parts - if you miss 1 pxl it'll show up as a nasty glitch on the horizon ingame - which seems to be the case in CMA (which I own btw). Shouldn't be to hard to make a part of the horizon showing the sea - I seem to recollect that this was done with one mod in CMSF (called CMSFUBKModv1, think you can find it in the Repository)
  8. Yeah, I've checked and doublechecked the AI plans; turns out I've forgotten to erase some of the older movementorders from earlier versions of the maps. Troops will in some rare instances move to perfectly logical areas and reach the objectives - and then move out again to a perfectly unlogical spot... This only applies to a few of the AI plans (all maps have 3-5 plans for each side). Thanks for bringing this to my attention - and as I said, this will be fixed in a v2.
  9. Thanks! Yes, the QB maps are all Attack-type - sorry should've mentioned that. Will do better with next pack (and upload a v2 of this first pack...) As far as I've been able to test the QB maps all have working AI plans; there are 3-5 AI plans for each side and they should be ok. One thing that I can think of is that there might some problems with the movement orders that has to do with some of the maps being edited from older versions. I'll have a more thourough look into it. Which one did you test?
  10. Place the QB maps (the actual files, not the QB map pack folder), in the folder called "Game Files" - that'll make them show up in the Quick Battle menu.
  11. Thanks guys! More QB packs on their way!
  12. Uploaded to GAJ's Combat Mission Mods Warehouse; ITALIAN CAMPAIGN MOD 1.0: Southern Italy Summer Terrain This pack will change the look of the terrain into a scorched and dusty landscape of southern Italy. This Terrain Mod should be combined with the "sdp_ITA_basic pack" to get the true impression of the Sicilian landscape and the Salerno bay area - or other parts of southern Italy for that matter... Do not combine this Terrain Mod with "sdp_ITA_winter terrain" or any other Terrain Mod - make sure to remove them from the Z folder before. To get the real hot and dusty feeling to your battles, use Weather Setting "Clear", "Haze" or "Thick Haze". Available at http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods/4559/details
  13. Upload edited (first version just had the thumbnails...) New version here;http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods/4558/details Sorry for the inconvenience...
  14. Map Pack no1 consisting of 5 QB maps with AI plans for both sides. Combines well with the sdp_ITA mods for the Italian Campaign. To be found at http://cmmods.greenasjade.net/mods/4557/details
  15. Excellent news! Looking forward to it! I could send you the bmp:s I've been working on if you'd find them useful.
  16. this is truly fantastic! I'm absolutely not an expert on uniforms, but doesn't it look like (judging from the 4th screenshot of the prone infantry) that there's gonna be both Brodie Helmets and Turtle helmets?
  17. It's more or less done - a few terraintiles left, that's all. I've been busy working on a pack of italian QB maps lately - with AI plans... Both the Southern Italy add-on and the maps will soon be released.
  18. correct, all three won't work at the same time. Use basic pack alone or basic pack + winter or basic pack + summer. Clarified?
  19. The mod packs (or any other mods for that matter) don't do anything to your default graphics as long as you put them in the Z folder. Use the mod packs for the Italian Campaign thus; 1. sdp_ITA_basic pack - to change the look of the houses, walls and some of the trees. Nothing else is affected. The terrain doesn't change. (this will be suitable for summertime scenarios for the Italian Campaign post apr 44'). 2. sdp_ITA_basic pack + sdp_ITA_winter terrain - to change the look of the houses, walls and the terrain. (this will be suitable for wintertime scenarios for the Italian Campaign, regardless of year). 3. sdp_ITA_basic pack + sdp_ITA_southernitaly_summer -to change the look of the houses, walls and terrain (this is suitable for july - september scenarios in southern Italy = Sicily and Salerno). By removing the ITA folders from your Z folder the game will change looks back to Normandy. The basic pack (1) can be combined with any other terrain mod of your choice - you can try Veins, Fleshs or Aristoteles Terrain Mod to see which one you prefer if you like. One at a time though ;-) As long as you use the Z folder nothing can go wrong.
  20. Nope, this is not replacing the basic pack. Combine this pack with the sdp_ITA_basic pack for scenarios covering the Sicilian Campaign and the Salerno landings. (july 43' to sept 43'). The terrain in this pack is mainly suitable for Southern Italy - it gives a far to dry and dusty look to work well for other parts of Italy. For summertime scenarios taking place post april 44' in the Italian Campaign I'd advice you to use just the sdp_ITA_basic pack (ie keeping the stock terrain for Normandy).
  21. You got mjkerners excellent HG Tropical Uniform Mod but don't know where to use it? Problem will be solved soon, because part 3 of the Italian Campaign Mod is on its way. It's called "SDP_ITA_southernitaly_summer" and will let you get a taste of those hot, dusty and rocky parts of Italy known as Sicily and Salerno. The perfect spot to go looking for those HG panzergrenadiers! Stay tuned, more news to come!
  22. ok, I've corrected the mod and removed the dot pattern. New version will be along soon. Now what about senior HG div officers? Any good pictures of those? Thought I'll include them as well in the new version ;-)
  23. nope, have been busy turning CMSF into CM:ISAF lately, so no finished scenarios... - but I've got a pack of Italian QB Maps coming along shortly - some mountainous and some representing more cultivated areas. Will let you know when they're done! /sdp
  24. After seeing Aris' excellent work on the german vehicles I've put my own german vehicles on hold for a while. I have however quite a few of them already done, so I just might release them as well when I release the planned mods for the upcoming "Commonwealth" module, we'll see... In the mean time I advice you to use Aris' excellent mods for the german vehicles - should go very well with the Italian setting :-)
