  1. "War waits for no one..." Entering 1943. The fall & early winter basicly saw the Russian troops pull back from their original offensives to regroup. Germans appear to be doing the same. A small offensive by the Germans near the city north of Rostov (Vor) is repelled for the moment as the army is destroyed (in low supply.) Russia has one indestructible partisan (now at strength one) continuing on the move near Riga. More partisans come to help. Bombings continue as the weather clears for a turn in the west on the French cities. The italian corp defending Caen is hit with squadrians of fighters... Another Italian (engineer) near Kiel is also damaged from fighters/bombardments.
  2. One more quick update before vacation... Sep 1942 Two more Panzer divisions are destroyed along with a Corp and two armies. More reinforcements march in... Bombings continue in the west. Three french cities are leveled. The weather is sure to slow us down...
  3. Aug 1942 The Russians decide to attack, since the Northern cities continue to fall. Two Anti-Tank divisions move on a Panzer division which meets its destruction. Two artillery & two armies take out a Romanian (2 tech IW) across the river. Another German army dug in the swamp is met with an escorted Tac bomber and destroyed by a tank. The tank also heavily damages an artillery division (down to 4.) East of Kiev a German Special forces unit is taken out by an Army and Tank division. A german counter attack is sure to follow. Another German U-boat is hunted down in the south atlantic. Obviously trying to draw off some of the allied navy. US will help in that area. Bombings of French cities has commensed again. Probably won't see too many AAR's from me the next two weeks since Vacation is approaching next week...
  4. End of May 42. US does enter the war. (What kept you so long?) Eastern front: Russians are preparing for the coming offensives. Eygpt should fall next turn. Unfortunate for the allies, but it kept the Axis powers occupied in Africa. Allies were able to inflict damage on the axis land troops. The luftwaffe saved the Africa Korps skin. Should prove to be an interesting summer...
  5. Jan 42 The battle continues in the Mediterranean. The damaged Royal navy takes some last passing shots at the adjacent Italian Cruiser as they steam off. The cruiser is only slightly damaged (down to 5) by a Battleship and 2 Cruisers. Meanwhile the Royal Air Force exacts a little revenge on the Germans in Eygpt by supporting a counter attack on the Panzer group that had moved in. With artillery, the tank is destroyed by the UK army. Meanwhile on the Russian front, all is quiet during the Blizzards as the siberians who are use to this weather, move in. 5 cities are in German hands to this point. (Riga, Minsk, Smolensk, Odessa, & Kiev.) Out in the Atlantic, the Royal navy searches for the remaining U-boats...
  6. Dec 41 arrives. The Japs are keeping the Americans busy with their sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. US is also upset over Germany's gains out in Eygpt. Diplomats sent to discuss the issue in Germany are turned away (fine, we'll remember that.) Stalin's message to those fighting in Lenigrad: "Fight to the death!" Royal Navy continues the search in the Atlantic for the rest of the U-boats. The royal navy is also busy down in Eygpt as an attack comes on the Italian navy bombarding the coast. One battleship is sunk, while another is seriously damaged (down to 2.) We are sure to sacrifice some ships for this operation, but it had to be done. Meanwhile on land, we are forced to move on the Germany army that had marched in near Alexandria. Corps, an artillery, and an army are able to take him out. Unfortunately, the Germans will have another clear turn to fly his planes (with many targets to choose from.) So far so good, on the Russian front. Soviet Winter is on its way, as well as the Siberians (already enroute) just waiting for their appearance.
  7. City AA only damages the bombers (not Tac bombers.) The AA units will defend against all planes. Definitely a useful upgrade for Russia. Helps against the bombers bombing the cities, and your land units when next to the AA guns.
  8. As Aug 41 opens, Stalin joins the war on the Germans, since an attack is imminent. Fresh troops await the impending clash of the "titans." Bombardments & Bombings of the French cities continue. The french cities are being reduced to rumble... U-boats continue to roam the atlantic. A new admiral is put in charge of the royal navy. Lets see if he can do his job... Germans are on the move in Africa, as a corp & two artillery approach the British fortification. The corp is met with a battery of artillery, spitfires, tanks, and troops. He is quickly destroyed...
  9. July 41. Joining the RAF's night bombings, some of the Royal navy is bombarding the coastal cities in France. (Sorry Frenchies, but you shouldn't have surrended so soon.) U-boats continue their "magician" act of disappearing once found. (I seem to be having the luck of finding the subs on my last or second to last ship being moved.) Since the others had already moved, its difficult to engage. Russia now at 74%, as Yugoslavia crumbles under the axis machine. Russian scientists have been working franticly with the military for the development of "new" weapons... Axis forces appear to be stirring in Africa as well.
  10. Yes, I believe that is automatic in Dec. What I'm curious is how he kept Russia out for as long as he did. (Did Russian readiness go down when you attacked Norway?) Diplo? or some other attack?
  11. Yes, the weather gods have shifted their allegience. (I think they have the "good guys" mixed up.) May 1940. And the axis turn is clear. That means the time is short for France. Allied command has to be happy France has held as long as it has. Royal navy is sent to probe the Denmark area, to see if the Germans, blocked the path to the port. Royal navy radios the French ships in the area, that they are a group of French women trapped in Denmark, in need of rescue. The french cruiser steams ahead at full speed, and runs into a German u-boat protecting the straits. (That answers that question, says the Royal navy.) And the idiot captain on the French battleship is relieved of command after running in to the U-boat at the port near Begium. (Didn't you read the previous report of a german u-boat at that port!) The Frenchies launch an attack on the german corp near paris. Strenght down to 3... To the taxi's leaving Paris, "come back and fight you cowards!"
  12. The reason the poles fell in two weeks, is due to deception on the part of the Germans. We saw them at the borders with all their military might. But they started asking directions on how to get to Russia (to kill those communistic oppressors.) Naturally, the poles obliged (since they didn't care much for those damn Russians either.) I guess we should have written the directions in German, instead of Polish, because they started their attack in our territory. The rest is history... The allied command regroups, and hopes to slow the Germans down. Many more clear turns in the coming winter and France will fall fast as well. But a glimmer of hope arises, as the first snows start to fall. Grounding his planes for atleast one turn...
  13. I would give a slight edge to the axis at this point. But its still too early for me to say absolutely. Need more time, & games to see more results. I would agree & like to see AA guns get 2 hit (defense) against planes. I disagree on the escorts. I like having the option to escort the stukas as it happened historically. Weather does play a much bigger role in WAW. A few well placed storms in a row, can slow an attack down by a couple of months...It can also work the opposite way...Just a nice variable of the game.
  14. Konigs: Yes, a rematch sounds good. Let me know which side you want. (Either is fine with me.) If you want the sames sides as our previous game, let me know (I'll send the turn.) If you want to switch sides, send me your first turn. I had signed up at Panzerliga, (back in Nov 2006) but with all the rules and all, I never really did anything with it except get confused, so I just play these non-match games. Yeah, too bad on the Pats (great season up to the last game.) Waltero: Sounds like Jealousy to me...

  16. K-Man also moves on as the allies officially sign the condition of surrender. Hard fought game by Timskorn. Great game...Continues to be a learning experience. (Wasn't easy) Hopefully will get up some of the pics... Canuck_Tar, I believe you have been waiting for the victor of our game. Let me know which side you would like to be. Either one is fine with me. (I will also email you later.)
  17. Quick update: July 1944 German units push on towards Archangel, tracking down the last 2 remaining HQ's on the North east front in Russia. On the far east (Urals) Germans also push towards the other remaining cities in Russia. Here lies the rest of the Russian army. Forces in the west are poised for the Allied attack that has landed in France and Vichy France.
  18. Yes, German high command is busy planning the defense of where the onslaught will come. German troops move in on Vologda area. Two armies & a corp are destroyed and the city is in German hands (via Paratroopers.) Since the Russian units had been cutoff from the rest of Russia, the rest of them should be low on supply, since the remaining 2 HQ's will be at 5. More forces arrive at various locations thru out... The battle continues. Turns were a little less due to my other real battles with the new stereo components. Need "engineers" to get those HDMI cables to work correctly...
  19. 9-26-43. Bad weather will be here. Two stuka divisions fly on the other tank remaining near the Volga river. (Revenge for shattering our Special Forces unit.) The T-34's are destroyed... Russia is starting to Crumble...Looking at the "loss" count. Germany has lost 4 units to Russia's 40. (4:1 ratio.) German high command didn't think that many Russians had been killed. (They just keep coming & coming.) 11-21. Two armys attack the Russian AT, and capture the city of Gorky. A tank moves in on the artillery (to 1,) and a corp finishes him off. Troops move in on Kuybyshev & Kazan. 12-19. The corp that attacked the Panzer IV's near Kuybyshev is countered by the same division and destroyed. Another city occupied for the cause. Multiple troops move in on Kazan. The corp holds on (1) for the moment... The same cannot be said for a corp fortified near Gorky. It is destroyed by various forces...
  20. September 1943. As the summer comes to a close, the German army is on the move for one last push, before the bad weather sets in. Eastern Front: (prior turn) A formation of T-34's North of the Volga, in the open plains is destroyed by two Stuka divisions. An AT is damaged. (Current turn) Another Group of T-34's hidden in fortifications behind the river are attacked. An elite artillery group is called on to soften up the fortified position. Fighters are sent up to attack to make sure the skys are clear. A Russian AA gun fires and knocks out some planes. A stuka squadron follows, damaging the tank division. A german corp moves up to access the damage, and takes a passing shot at the T-34's (minimal damage.) A second squadron of Stuka's fly to finish off the Tanks. West of that another set of T-34's are sitting in another fortification behind the river. 3 fighter divisions and one stuka are sent to soften them up. With the tanks in disarray and half damaged, a special forces unit is called on to destroy the remaining ones before they escape. An elite group of Panzer IV's move in to destroy an AA battery. A Russian army northwest of the river is attacked by 2 German armies, but survives (at a strength of 1.) A little further east (northeast of Moscow & the volga) another AA gun is taken out by a combination of Army, Panzer IV's and a corp. All else remains quiet.
  21. Thanks SeaMonkey, its been an uphill struggle. Had to have patience, especially when you feel your moving to slow. (But sometimes that is necessary.) Yes, a good experienced leader can make a difference. My dilemma in many cases, is which unit to put under control of the top guy...But they have kept readiness higher this game. Have some good "elite" units for the fronts. Can't blame Timskorn the for Italy campaign. I would have went the same way. Mid August 43 Only the city of Baku remains in the south. Two more Russian armies that have ventured out from behind the river north of Moscow, are destroyed.
  22. Yes, Russia has been slow going. But probably more historical in that way. Medals & congratulations are the order of the day for the Italian army in the mountains. We enter Aug of 43. The empty city of Tblisi, the corp & city of Grozny, and oil wells southeast of Grozny are all taken. The Russian economy must be hurting as the loss of cities and lack of convoys, starts to put a stranglehold on the Russians. It has been an interesting game...
  23. July 1943 Axis forces reinforce on the Moscow line. 2 more Russian armys were killed in May. Allied planes will also meet level 4 fighters, as axis forces upgrade. A Russian squardian founds out in July, during an attack, just what they will be facing. (It is completely destroyed during the dogfight with the axis counterparts.) A russian corp (probing) north of Voronezh is also kia. Meanwhile in the southeast (Russia) a tank guarding the new Capital, is taken out. More forces move south to the oil rich fields. (Maikop had already been taken in maybe 42.) Forces are on the doorstep of Grozny. Allied forces in Italy still can't breakthru the Italian army in the mountains northeast of Sicily. Still no convoys to Russia, as the subs roam free in the ocean...
  24. Feb 1943. Battle continues in the Norwegian sea. One destroyer and cruiser are now laying at the bottom of the sea. Another allied cruiser is heavily damaged (down to 1) and leaving quite a trail of oil... In Russia, 2 Russian armys & 1 corp are destroyed northwest of Moscow. North of Moscow a tank is damaged to 5, with AT's & artillery. East of Moscow another Russian army is destroyed. Zhurkov is finally destroyed and the army in Voronezh is down to a strength of 2. In Italy a carrier is attacked with Fighters and artillery. The fight goes on...
