  1. It has been a while since I had any issues with Strategic Command The Great War. Is this the right place to ask? Game was working fine the last time I used it. Today it gives me a message, "Your license file is missing, would you like to browse for it?" Where do I find this file? Do I need to reinstall the whole game again. I know I have my license key number, but just need to know how to fix the problem. Thanks!
  2. Worthplaying appears to have worked okay. No virus alerts like the other sites or issues with the zip file. Extracting the files now. Launching game, and works fine. Not sure why there were problems with the other 3 sites.
  3. On Gamershell, I click on the download button, within about 5 seconds, it says my download is ready. I then click that on, it asks me what I want to do with the file, (save, save as, open.) I choose save as, once I choose the location and hit okay, the McAfee window pops up, "Potentially Dangerous Download Detected!" It goes on to say, "McAfee has detected that your download contains viruses, spyware and other potentially unwanted programs. These programs can damage your hard drive or steal your personal information." I have the option to download anyway or block download. I got the same message from Atomicgamer. Tried Patches Scrolls. That site downloads a zip file. But when I try to open it, it gives me a Sorry! alert. "This installation failed to load required resources. Try cleaning your internet Explorer temp files (which I tried) but didn't work. Worthplaying was the 4th site tried. Download starts fine, just extremely slow. Guess I'll come back later to see if its done. (Never seen a download go that slow.) But it appears to downloading something...Something is better than nothing...I'll let you know! Thanks Hubert.
  4. I went to download the new patch (for AOC) 1st at the Gamershell link, then at the Atomicgamer link, and I receive a message that the file I am attempting to download contains viruses, spam, malware, etc. (I have McAfee for virus software.) Should I be concerned, or is this just a phantom message coming up? (I had not seen this message come up for any other patches I have downloaded in the past.) The most recent would be the WWI game.
  5. Thanks Bill & Hubert! Look forward to the new games! Looks like a job well done by everyone.
  6. Thanks for the reply and links. Checked out the map and it looks pretty good. It was tough going from The Great War (WWII campaign's) map back to the old Global map. I can live with the "arrows" on the maps for the scrolling, but it would be nice (in a global game) to scroll a loop like Civ. But my issue with the arrows (atleast in The Great War WWII campaign) is their locations. I preferred the first SC games where the arrows were located at the point in the map where you would be scrolling (if u could scroll). It bugs me in The Great War, if you want to take your guy out of Gibraltar and move him to Egypt via the Atlantic (not Mediterreanan) you have to move him north to the arrows in the middle of the Atlantic so he can go south around Africa. Makes no sense...IMO. Obviously in Global that shouldn't be an issue, since you should see the whole map, but I just hope any arrows that are there, make more sense.
  7. Any screenshots of the new global map for Assault on Democracy? Just curious how it compares to the other maps.
  8. I have Global Conflict. Will I be able to purchase the Assault on Communism & Democracy Expansions to work with the original Global, or will I also need to purchase the Gold expansion? Thanks!
  9. One other thing of note in MJY's game (as I am the opponent.) On that last surrender, I had not actually reconquered Iraq (atleast not in the sense of retaking the capital.) He had an Italian HQ on the capital, with multiple forces next to the city. When the turn ended, there was a different message as far as the Italians being "run out of town" and then the country turned back over to allied control. I was aware of a feature in Iraq where if u have 2 or more units near the capital, it has a chance to automatically surrender. But when I first attacked his garrison with 2 units near the city it did not surrender. I had to finally take out the garrison, occupy the capital and then it surrendered. After the axis retoke the city, I didn't expect these feature to be able to come up later. Very strange.
  10. Thanks Bill! Just emailed you the turn. It was quite a surprise. I'll be curious to know what you find.
  11. So playing Storm of Europe Campaign on patch 1.05. I am allied. I watch the replay of my axis opponent do his turn. I then get my Military Activity (all allied of course.) Then I get the Research Activity (showing two German tech hits.) I forgot for a moment which side I was on. First I thought, I never get intel hits after a replay (before my turn.) Then realized I was seeing his two hits (I assume from the turn before.) I assume this isn't an intel hit, only because I have never seen this before. Unless this is new to 1.05. (And that means I just blew my advantage in this game by letting my opponent know.) My guess is, it is a glitch...
  12. I had a infantry unit waiting off shore, but he got tired of waiting and went home
  13. I can't say anything from a mod perspective, but only from a gaming outlook... I would vote for WWI. I have both WWI and regular Global. Global was good, and really only had one thing I didn't like. After playing PDE & WAW, the map and scale of Global was too small for me. (Not a knock on the game, but just my preference.) I then got WWI when the WWII campaign was going to be added. I played a little of WWI (which was alot of fun) but then went to the WWII campaign, and the size of the map is just the best. It gives you so many more options than the old PDE/WAW games and not the restricted scale of Global. The "minor" units such as AA, artillery, AT, etc., seem to fit it much better with the WWI game map.
  14. My opponent and I have played mirror games on the SOE Campaign on all the patches. We were also curious how the new changes would effect (improve) the games balance. Prior to 1.04, it was very difficult for the UK and US to really do much (even by 1944). So far in the 1.04 mirror games, we are up to Sep 42. The UK/US impact has been much greater, and feel that so far the changes have made the UK/US much more of a factor. Russia (in both games has contained the Germans for the most part.) We are both held up on a line near Rostov. I have just managed to take Moscow by the end of the summer 42. Has Russia been tweaked too much, only completing the games will tell. We both agree that AA can get too strong, that pretty much limits the air war especially in the East. (I had mentioned on our next games to max out the AA tech to 3.) Even at 3 it is pretty strong, but 4 and 5 eliminates any sort of air attack. Since the AT improvement didn't get into the latest patch, we'll have to wait for the next one to test that out. AT in this game and previous are so useless (except for the initial attack on the zero level Russia tanks) that I don't even think a one level increase for them will make much of a difference. But we'll see. (I think it should have gone up 2 levels.) I do still like the improvements made on the research mechanism. So much better than the old games (IMO.) As far as the BEF go, I have found it to be too costly to transport twice, and even worse if you lose it. In all our games (including this latest 1.04 patch) both of us have mananged (without the BEF) to keep France in the game until June/July of 1940. So for that reasoning alone, we have never brought in the BEF. I like your idea on the political ramifications of not sending the BEF historically. Maybe the decision event would be a nice option. I haven't given it alot of thought, since historically in all our games we have managed to make it to the Jun/Jul 40 date (which is pretty realistic.) I have to say, I think time line wise the Polish and French campaigns for our games have been pretty spot on historically. No complaints there.
  15. Just noticed in the mirror game I have going, the same thing was happening with 2 of my german HQ's. I had to unattach every unit to find that one of my HQ's was attached to an artillery twice. How is that possible? After unattaching him a second time from that same HQ, I was able to proceed as normal.
  16. I have a current game going in SOE (1.04) where on some of my HQ's, I can only attach 5 units, not 6. Couple of turns ago I noticed with my 3 HQ's that were supporting units, 2 of them could only support 5 each, and the other could do the normal 6. (This is Russia by the way.) As far as the HQ's supply went, one was at 8 (and supporting 5) another at 10 (supporting 5) and the other at 10 (supporting 6.) So I don't think it has anything to do with the HQ's supply. Then in my last turn I noticed 2 of my HQ's were supporting the same unit. (Although I didn't have twice the support in terms of his morale/readiness.) I also found by accident when I went to detach one unit, it was still attached (but to the other HQ.) As I'm writing this, it just dawned on me. I probably could support the 6 units, but in some cases the HQ's were supporting the same unit. Is this a glitch? Don't know if it has been reported yet. I believe I've seen in happen in other patches, but just kept thinking I was missing a unit (visually.)
  17. I have had this happen in multiple games (from WAW, PDE, WWI etc.) I'm usually just looking at a unit (such as a fighter) to see what my strike range is, then come out of it, and he is no longer active. It is most annoying, but tough to reproduce. Next time it happens, I'll try to remember what I did and reproduce it doing the same "move" to see if it happens again. I've gotten to the point (on an important battle) if I want to see a particular characteristic on a unit, I just go to the Buy screen and check on it there. This way I don't have to touch the unit. But this issue doesn't happen enough, so you forget about it, get comfortable, and find my self looking at the unit, and then bam, oh yeah...
  18. Speaking of swapping units, here is a glitch that just happened to me in a game. (Playing the Storm over Europe campaign, ver 1.03.1.) I had a paratrooper in the prepare mode, but wanted to swap him with another land unit. So I took the paratrooper out of the prepare mode, did the shift swap, and the units did change places okay. But my normal paratrooper icon, is now the transport plane icon. This is the icon you would normally see if the unit was in the prepared mode and you were dropping into a square by parachute. And you only see that icon normally while its flying between point A and B. Then it goes back to the paratrooper icon. It kind of looks like the transport planes are just warming up their engines for the next big drop.
  19. Yeah, that's what I thought and was afraid of...I saw it had a 75% chance of hitting each turn after a particular date (Dec 1941.) But also believe that it had to happen on a winter turn. Not sure what area would require this winter turn, but just assume the area where the capital is (Moscow.) But I think MJY meant to say that he was Mr. Lucky (a shot back across the bow...) Because now it will hit in 42/43 when I have alot more troops there to affect and more expensive to reinforce (since they will hopefully be at a higher tech level.) I guess I'll just have to take out Russia by then... 1st time this is ever happened in a game...Should be interesting...
  20. Thanks Hubert! Just emailed the turn over. We are both wondering if these current games will be salvagable or should we start over under 1.03.1 or wait for 1.04. (I know this question is always asked, but any time frame on 1.04?)
  21. ...and the error continues to pop up in that one game and suspect it will rear its ugly head in the other. The question is, was it due to us starting in 1.03? Will we have to scrap these 2 games and start fresh with 1.03.1? We are both on Windows 7 (if that makes a difference.) Has anyone gotten that same error with 1.03.1?
  22. MJY is correct, that we started on 1.03, got the error on one of our 2 games, (on maybe the 3rd turn,) then upgraded to 1.03.1. We kept the current games going since they were working. MJY did just try redoing his turn (before the error) and sending it to me. I was able to answer yes and get to see (what I assume was most) of the replay, but it stopped after some many moves and gave me the error again.
  23. I'm getting the "Failed - Animate replay list" right after I answer yes to see the replay. I can play the turn, by answering no and not seeing the replay by my human counterpart. (Play by email turn.) We are both on 1.03.1. First time its happened in this game. (Up to 6/6/41.) Hoping it doesn't occur once I get in Russia...I can send the turn if necessary...Oh playing the storm over europe campaign...
