It's a nice punchy sound, but I think the "pling" sound is too loud compared to the crack of the shot. I believe it should only be heard when the camera is very close.

The ping of the clip being ejected can be heard from a fair distance in reality, so the video doesn't have things wrong.

Being able to tow an immobilized vehicle is a necessity in this game given how often vehicles get stuck.

Towing vehicles is out of the time frame being simulated by these games. No army is going to risk valuable recovery assets in the middle of a firefight.

It's noteworthy how fearless the BMP3 IFV's in CMBS are when confronted with a superior AFV like a tank.  They stand and fight, first by using their 30mm, secondly have seen em use their 100mm gun, and only very occasionally have I seem em use their ATGM's.  Strange.

By comparison, tanks in CMBS act very skittish when being lased - blowing smoke and retreating immediately.  Can't help feeling that IFV's are given too much morale or something if they are more willing to stand and fight than a tank.

And why don't the BMP's use their ATGM's as the first weapon of choice rather than their 30mm??  However, the 30mm is so effective, one wonders why they even need the ATGM's.  (Maybe the CM2 maps are still too small to encourage the use of their ATGM's?)

Why don't you open a new topic and complain about that sort of stuff there instead of derailing this topic?

  4. I know that when I was in from 2003-2007, I didn't have to pay anything to go from BDUs to DCUs, as I received a one-time uniform stipend of a couple hundred bucks. Purchased two sets of uniforms, as I recall and pocketed the rest. :) And that was with me being in garrison and not scheduled to be deployed anywhere.

Come to think of it, I think the only "essential" uniform item I purchased during my time on active duty was a pair of black jungle boots, but that was just so I could get out of those awful leather boots they issued me in basic.

There is a reason that of all the hardcore wargame developers BF is the ONLY company to survive.  Plenty of others tried to go the "expand our market" route.  Where are they now?  Out of bidness, that's where.

You don't go much outside these forums, do you? Besides the example of Arma already being given, there's Eagle Dynamics and 1C Game Studios on the military flight simulator side of things - and both software houses are doing quite fine with expanding their user base.

I gotta say that I think I understand where rooibos is coming from. I'd love for there to be an auto update function which downloads new maps, battles, and campaigns (all vetted and tested by BFC). The same for opponents.

...and one that will download updates to the game. The current system is terribly antiquated and, judging by the number of questions that come up here about how to update the game, is in need of a change.

"Manual in error...!!!"  We have sarcastic discussions about people not bothering to read the manual.  I knew there was a good reason why most folks prefer to simply ask here on these forums for accurate and up to date info.  Thank you...

Wow, so one minor error in the manual means we should just toss it out the window now?

That said, I'm pretty sure its an unwritten rule of humanity that all manuals must be thoroughly researched, written, and published, then promptly forgotten about and never read by anyone  As is tradition.

That's for certain. I took a lot of time and effort to author the official manual for new IL-2 flight sim series (as well as Rise of Flight), and yet still I see people asking the same extremely basic questions that could be answered far more quickly by glancing through the manual. It's just one of those things that's never going to change.

Have done that now.  But, wouldn't it be more convenient for customers to have the name clearly stated in one's account info?  Then all one would need to do is copy and paste the correct code(s).  I am a big believer re trying to alleviate irritating issues like that for customers and making things as easy as possible.

That is what one needs to do I agree.

My point is that it would have been convenient and user-friendly to have that info presented on the BF "My Account" area in an easy-to-use format.  In our busy stressed out lives, most of us want to be able to do things convenient, easy and fast.

What exactly is so difficult and inconvenient about keeping your license keys in a text file on your computer or (gasp) in an online document that you can access from any internet-connected device?
