  1. I'll check it out on an old PC, but I won't replace my entire system with it just yet. Currently trying to get a 2.6 kernel to run.
  2. BTW Im running debian sarge, kernel version 2.4.27 (I guess the kernel version could be the problem)
  3. Oh, I didn't even think about starting DT without a window manager. It does need X though, doesn't it? I have installed DT but I'm getting this error when running runCLient.sh: ./SpaceVikings: relocation error: ../lib/libSDL-1.2.so.0: symbol __sprintf_chk, version GLIBC_2.3.4 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link time reference Know how to fix that?
  4. Has anyone tried running DT on the same machine in different operating systems? Which operating system will get me best performance given the same system specs? I've been running DT in Windows XP so far, but I'd like to try it in Linux. I haven't been able to get it to run there, yet (Look forward to me asking for help here ).
  5. HyperSnap works. Just had to use a different function there: "Capture Full Screen" instead of "Special Capture".
  6. The layout looks good though. Conversion to PDF should prevent those file problems even if the original file is a doc. Another free programme would be Scribus (for Linux).
  7. The Thor texture clearly shows smoke launchers on the turret. It's not possible to use them right now, is it?
  8. I haven't been able to take any screenshots in game. I'm using HyperSnap DX. I thought I was able to use HyperSnap in earlier versions of DT. How do YOU take your screenshots?
  9. It works for me. The pictures take some time to load here. I think it would be better as a pdf, but I guess I could just do that myself for my own usage. It's nice to have all the data available, however I'm not THAT interested in the Hungarian units (I presume this is kind of a test, to see if it's justified to do the same for different nations). Have you seen this site? http://cmbb.jemian.com/ You can find the penetration and armor data there, too.
  10. The x,y,z coordinates of the gun (and I presume of the turret as well) are in the object XML file.
  11. It was possibly the dust kicked up by one of your missed shots.
  12. No, the casualties number includes the killed soldiers, but not the captured ones.
  13. yes, I'm aware of that, they show up with different weapons, e.g. the "Fallschirmjäger 41" squad exists in a version with Russian SMGs and with German ones. I should have asked like this: How does CM handle this? If you select a unit of that type, do you get random selections of units of that name?
  14. When you browse through http://cmbb.jemian.com/ and look at the infantry units, you can see multiple squads of the same name in the same time period but with differing firepower. Does anyone know how to explain this?
  15. I don't think that's what poesel is interested it. I have put the heavy mortar on an Apollo as well, but I understand the question as: "Has anyone created a model from scratch and imported it to DT?"
  16. You've got mail. Regarding the infantry types, there will be guys along shortly who can tell you everything you'll need to know. The most unique unit on the Russian side is probably the SMG infantry, but you could also look up the ski troop thread for another specialized infantry type. I don't think steppe and open ground differ in anything but name, but I might be mistaken.
  17. I used to have the same problem. It's important to keep track of all the enemy vehicles. If you lose track of one it might go underwater and they're hard to find there.

  19. I don't want to interfere with your planning but I would prefer a system in which battles can be played whenever there is a pair of players who are available with no need for a special individual to be there. To be honest the system you are implementing is very appealing in terms of realism, having commanders with their given area of responsibility who might fight on the same map repeatedly sometimes against the same opponent. However I believe it will be hard to enforce the schedule if there have to be very specific pairings at very specific times.
  20. One point you bring up reminds me of something I wanted to suggest. In desert maps I would like to see tanks kick up dust, which blocks LOS. However it wouldn't have such a great impact and probably constitutes a considerable additional workload for the CPU.
  21. I don't expect the WWII mod to focus on all the different infantry units with their weapons types, but infantry can still play a major role as aittam said. I just played the "Hide and Seek" scenario. Infantry is really scary in that one (if you don't turn of foliage).
  22. LOL, think about an ATGM paladin carrying its own ATGM targetting team. That sounds like fun.
  23. I'd like the replay feature if it could be implemented without increasing lag.
