  1. I prefer to have wounds, gore, etc. abstracted. If a wounded soldier has a red stain on his uniform that's fine, but anything more than that and the game stops being a game and suddenly turns into a representation of, or, a metaphor for current events and who needs that. On the other hand, I do hope to see objects like bodies or debris flying from explosions, just not body parts.
  2. While we're waiting for more bones and whatnot, how about some COMBAT MISSION anagrams? A BISON COMMITS BACON IS ITS MOM I suspect these might give us some clues about the direction of Battlefront's future gaming commitments.
  3. I like the point made in the blog about the Syrian countryside and what it implies for the editor. The terrain and flora in the Near East are both very diverse. The video looked great too, very immersive. It reminded me of a sci-fi short story I read, by Bruce Sterling, about a planet that was uninhabited and nothing but vegetation. Or maybe I've been playing too much Drop Team.
  4. Andreas: the quote should read "...for all love".
  5. I understand now. Pardon my thickheadedness... :[
  6. I see. Thanks for the information. Is there way to design a function for a we-go game that could incorporate an ftp server into the game? Assuming the player could delimit the amount of hard-disc space allotted to game files.
  7. After downloading both of Gurra's mods, and realizing that I already had the late war set...the dry open ground mod did it!!! I'm certain 1850.bmp is the culprit. Thanks very much!! I am so glad to be rid of that tile. Here's the map as it should look:
  8. Those look incredible. When I get home from work tonight I will start experimenting with those mods and hopefully get it figured out. I guess the early war .bmp is supposed to emulate Sicilian terrain, later war mid to northern Italy...but there really isn't that much of a difference except from season to season. And even then it's more yellow than salmon...
  9. I am aware of that--what I'm suggesting is an internal feature of a game that allows we-go files to be traded from IP to IP, bypassing emails altogether. Does this exist, or is it possible?
  10. All of this banter makes me wonder: is there actually another way of sending we-go game files that bypasses email, as in directly from one computer to another? The reason is that PBEM has become a trial for me and many others that I know of. ISPs reject emails with attachments all the time now and PBEM is a hassle. Yet TCP is hard to coordinate. By the way, this query is 100% curiosity, no strings attached.
  11. Ok thanks I'll give it a try. But believe me, nothing has worked. And by golly I am sick of that salmon brown pink orange color. >
  12. As a customer, I definitely appreciate the developer input feedback in both this and the CMSF forum. Now let's get some feedback in the CMBO forum. When can we expect the patch?
  13. It's definitely open ground and definitely not in the BMPs above--I've replaced both those sets. But now that you mentioned it, I think it might be 1850. Thanks for the offer UXcva. It's a custom map I'm working on. I'll do a search at CMMODs for that BMP and if I find something better I'll post a link here.
  14. Does anyone know what number the bmp for this tile is? Or better yet a mod to replace it. I have downloaded a bunch of grass/ground/terrain mods including CMETO which I use, and nothing I've found replaces this particular tile which I can't stand to look at anymore. Thanks!!
  15. Poor Thok. He never saw it coming. p.s. Iceman said it. I am a long-time Combat Missioner yet I can't stand any tactical WWII FPS/platoon sim (like COH or whatever, and I'm also not buying TOW, sorry), nor can I stomach games like Unreal or the Battlefield series. This game is the only PC game besides the Combat Mission series that I have ever played beyond the first ten minutes and I was hooked almost instantly. Every other PC game I've bought (and there are about a dozen) are gathering dust. I just wish I could get online at the right times in order to play with everyone. p.p.s. OK, I admit: I was addicted to both Tenchu and Gran Turismo for the PS1. But I was a different person then!
  16. Nice work. Look forward to trying it out. Why not make the turret box longer (i.e. extend it rearwards) to accomodate all those extra rounds? That will reinforce the notion of a limited arc--if you traverse the turret too far suddenly there's a lot more to shoot at.
  17. Before this gets silly, my two cents: I read the review a couple times and I get the distinct sense that the reviewer spent all of about ten or fifteen minutes actually playing the game, since he reserves about two sentences for multiplayer gameplay which is pretty much the whole point of the game and the demo. Note that he doesn't mention a single unit type or even infantry for that matter. The game is certainly not for everyone (everyone I've showed it to loved it or hated it, almost instantly) but that review is pretty much nothing but the pretentious spite of someone who is an ace in some other on-line game, but probably just got his ass handed to him playing DT. Strangely this fact has never compelled me to write a bad review. Anyway, does anyone really care if it takes 30 seconds to load textures and whatnot? It's the perfect amount of time to make a quick ham and cheese and grab a diet coke.
  18. I downloaded the editor and when I clicked on the setup.exe it said I need the .NET framework. I downloaded and installed it from Microsoft (just the x86 version, there are multiple versions listed with no explanation so I just tried the first one) and the setup.exe said the same thing. I restarted and I got the same message. All in windows XP. .NET/microsoft website
  19. Actually come to think of it a more modern or futuristic anti-infantry round would incorporate flechettes (the IDF used them in Lebanon--5000 flechettes per 120mm round!). But pretty much the same thing.
  20. RE: the 76mm. Two things would improve this weapon without giving it uber status: one, a canister round. Two, a very limited one-shot kill capacity versus other Paladins. Say, a very well-aimed shot to the side, low and perfectly center.
  21. If you mean the funky skybox on Ice Island, that's fixed for 1.1.6. </font>
  22. Thanks Hub. I am having technical difficulties with one of your scenarios but I enjoy the rest of them and would never stoop to an emailed insult regardless. Never mind such petty childishness.
