Heh - the thing I _most_ want to do with it. It needs to be supported by BFC. It's not out of the question, it's all a matter of priorities and time, for them.
GaJ
Oh good, I hoped I was making sense. It would be pretty cool feature. So is this something you have spoken to BFC about then?
-
Can i echo what sburke stated earlier..this is a marvellous product and i would be lost without it. So thanks for keeping it going and updated GAJ
GAJ is it possible to have the game launch from the save file straight into the game? If you know what i mean? At the moment the save file launches the game but only to the saved filed screen.
-
They don't pick them up. That must be a uniform mod that adds US uniforms on german soldiers.
Would be nice if the 101st airborne got some pzf's tho since they actually had a large stockpile of them after italy (or was it the 82nd?)
Are we looking at the Bulge mod and one of Skorzeny cheeky chaps?

Here's the appstate.txt that I deleted.
GAJ may want to see that Nik_B..it's goobledy gook to me mate

try this which was posted on another thread by Greenasjade for me. Once i deleted the AppState.txt folder it worked again
Can I check something: this problem didn't start when you changed version of H2HH did it? I'm under the impression that you guys having the problem "didn't change anything, it just stopped working (maybe around the time windows updated)". Is that right?
Anyhow, the error message you showed me tells me that we really need to try to find that file. I might not have given you decent instructions before so let's try a bit better. If this gets too hairy, we can always shout out for someone else to try it
First, you need to follow the instructions that are here, which makes sure you can see "hidden" folders (you can turn this off again later if you don't like it):
Then - you need to be looking at the contents of your C: folder, like this:
Double-click on Users and you should be able to see a folder with your account name on it (I am mgregory):
Double click on this, and you should see a folder called AppData:
You won't see AppData unless you did the "show hidden folders" thing I mentioned above.
Inside AppData there should be "Roaming", and inside that there should be GreenAsJade, and inside that there should be H2HHelper ... and inside there there should be AppState.txt:
First: surely this file must exist, since tryme got past the place where it tests that. If it doesn't, that will be the mystery for us to solve.
The error message you have implies that it does exist. In which case, I need to know what's inside it when H2HH is not working. Can you send it to me? Can you also send me h2hh_log.txt.
Assuming you found it, one other thing you can do is delete it then run H2HH again. H2HH is supposed to create that file if it's not there. Would be good to see if this happens...
That's a bit to get on with
Cheers,
GaJ

Interesting that you guys seem to forget that I have included different levels of difficulty to cater for as many of BFC's customers as possible for my last two campaigns. If you find the missions are too difficult, don't bust your balls replaying until you get a win. Just accept the loss, drop down to the lower difficulty missions and enjoy yourselves. Which other designers are willing to put in the work, (and trust me, it's a lot of work), to provide this for you? It certainly seems like this effort is unappreciated.
Not by me Paper Tiger i like to be beaten and frustrated replayability is what i love about this game and your stuff is always tough

Now you are mixing up two issues, or maybe three.
You get the warning on the right files that have been correctly transferred. That is because CMx2 does everything that malware does and that is why it is flagged by security software until you tell it it is fine.
What Schrull and I were arguing are downloads that are actually incorrect. As Schrull points out there has only been a case of a broken but not infected download but as I tell him that isn't acceptable. Because BFC forced their customers to make exclusions for their security software, BFC doesn't assert the integrity of the downloads and as a result people would be forced to disable the alarm on downloads that might actually be infected.
Or in other words: since the valid download is already flagged, how do you ever tell an invalu download?
Oh, i see what you are saying now.
-
I got the warning when downloading from BFC and it's recommended sites. I have since ran scans on my pc and found no infected files though.

There's no particular place you have to put H2HH.
Did the dos window stay open better this time?
Unfortunately that message wasn't what I was looking for, can you try 0.0.5?
Thanks!
GaJ
yes the box stayed open and that is all that appeared within it.

This file should be stored at:
c:\Users\<your username\App Data\Roaming\GreenAsJade\Appstate.txt
Can you see if this file exists, and if you can open it with something like notepad?
Please send it to me.
Meanwhile, try tryme-0.0.4 ... it might also give us some better information.
GaJ
I cannot find this...................c:\Users\<your username\App Data\Roaming\GreenAsJade\Appstate.txt
got this running tryme-0.0.4

I want to burn cities/towns and villages down
-
Can you right click on the shortcut, select properties, and send me a screenshot.
Meanwhile, what you have captured looks like excellent clues, thanks!
GaJ
Will do later today when i get home from work GAJ. I think i made an error following your instructions somehow. I would imagine it was supposed to run differently to how it did.
-
OK - this is a bit tricky to explain. Hopefully someone can figure it.
Please go to the folder where you extracted tryme, and right click on tryme.exe
Select "create shortcut".
Right click on the shortcut it created, and select "properties". It should look something like this:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/rnbw8731x0u0rd3/Screenshot%202013-12-24%2014.36.33.png
except your folder location will be different to mine.
What you need to do is edit the "Target". First, put double quotes at each end of it.
Then put a space in front of it.
Then put this in front of that space:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /K
It should end up looking something like this:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/r73c4x200wwcxf4/Screenshot%202013-12-24%2014.36.50.png
Then... click "Apply" and double click the shortcut.
Hopefully, the ms-dos window stays open and you can tell me what's in it!
GaJ
this what i got....
The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect.
C:\Users\ALIEN\Downloads\try-me-0.0.3>
I also managed to do a pause break and grabbed some more text for you GAJ..I am not sure this all of it though.....

OK ... anyone... try tryme 0.0.3.
GaJ
I ran v3. Just a lot of script scrolled past very quickly in an ms-dos type black box. Then it closed itself
-
Thanks Para. That's what it was supposed to do. It tells me that there is something special about H2HH that is not in this simple program that is making H2HH not work.
It will be trial and error from here to find out what that is... standby...
GaJ
i see ok
cheers

(ignoring what appears to be a post in the wrong thread...)
...it looks like we need some trial and error here to figure out what's going on.
Can some kind person with this problem (h2hh won't work on Win7) try the "tryme" application from here:
Thanks,
GaJ
I downloaded this GAJ ran it. All that i see is a message in a black box saying..''it seems to be working..yay!''
there is no instructions on what to do next..
-
Yes, it won't fix anything, it is just a simple program to tell me if ... I can make a simple program run on your machine!
At work now will try this method at around 7pm gmt today.
thanks for your help. I love this programme and really want to get it working again
-
Excellent work this, very impressed.

Should i try this GAJ?

Darn, I thought that looked really promising. How far did you get through all those instructions?
Also, I'm still waiting to hear what it says, when you get that error, and you ask it to "View more detailed information".
Thanks,
GaJ
All the way through the instrutions but nothing happens. I also tried the compatibility method for different versions of windows and still no joy

How minimal is the input required from the user? I am an idiot and pretty useless at this sort of stuff.
Does this automatically take my battle results at the end of each game?
