  2. if u have vehicles like the ones in the demo u need a gpmg at squad level. realistically the lighter skinned british vehicles seem to be taken down easily by enemy MG positions
  3. I agree you need wingman AI for this to work. Or at least opposing AI. Opposing AI would be the first step and an hopefully easy one. Then the AI would not have to be changed at all. Humans would just have there forces split between them into two.... Thats it, done.

  5. i guess the point is. when a crew bails or becomes incapacitated thats effective enough enemy fire for me. and in cmsf it means i lose a tank

  7. I usually have a forum signature that gives both a hotlink and a descriptor of what the game generally does. I visit a lot of forums for a great variety of games. But my sig usually only gives exposure to the best of the best and the least exposed, but most deserving games. CMSF looks like it needs to go on my sig with Jutland. Both are diamonds in the rough. Both have very little exposure. CMSF is a good move for people looking for more than your normal level of realism. CMSF ia good for those that want to know how it works in the real world and for those who want to refresh what it was like in their own training/operational experiences. CMSF is a good cross over for games like, close combat theatre of war men of war company of heroes arma2 operation flashpoint call of duty modern warfare I would be surprised if many of the old cm crew crossed over? They strike me as more of a niche ww2 turn based crowd? I may be wrong offcourse. I personally am still exploring the BF demo at the moment. I purchased the original cmsf but could n ot get into it for various reasons... including performance, multiplayer (no coop) and friends that this was a little too advanced for. So far I am really enjoying the experience. Sigs anybody?
  8. i know fraps take a hit, but its usually only in the vicinity of 1fps I do not fixate on framerates as long as the game runs smoothly. The first one had many problems in this regard that got somewhat better with patches. 30fps is supposed to be the most the human eya can process. however framerate for me also indicates not only the video performance but can be a measure of how well the computer handles the game in general. those drops in framerates when the fighting starts are when i used to bfind the game un-responsive and unplayable. not because of graphics grunt but because the computer just was not handling the game overall. I'm just asking as an indicator who gets 24fps throughout a mission basically. Especially on the bigger ones.
  9. damn, so the rear of an abrams is basically vulnerable to almost any apc or small calibre arty. sound like even an rpg would screw it from the rear. I know tanks are built with an expectation that the front will be the part facing the enemy and that the top and bottom were fairly vulnerable. The rear engine compartment is vulnerable. I just had no idea that the rear armour of a tank was so weak
  10. Probably a silly question. I have a laptop i use when i am travelling and a desktop that is my main gaming rig. Since my laptop runs the game reasonably I want to know whether i need two copies of the game when it is me (same person and license owner?) who will be using them both. Similar to the microsoft office rules? Anyway its worth asking as i know other games that do allow this....

  12. In the demo performance is acceptable at between 60 and 13 when the action is heavy. However these are relatively small maps? Anyone who has the full game care to comment on their rig and frame rates. I am kinda haunted by the first cmsf game where even a good computer seemed to have performance problems. Hoping the game has matured enough that even big maps are nice and smooth... my rig: q6600 8800gt 4gig ram vista 32
  13. i was thinking of just buying the whole game and expansions bundle even though i have the original game. This way I was hoping it came on one disk with a combined manual? Just to keep it neat and tidy.
  14. nice pics and info. informative. But nobody knows where the incoming fire came from? Was it combat or just ambush style IED, guerilla action. Looking for info here on any effects of enemy heavies like tanks and such. apart from that is there any reliable data?
  15. Just played the demo scenario where marines need to capture a town in order to allow the supply trucks to continue moving forward. I won a major victory but on basic settings. If i turn up the difficulty what happens? a) do the ai get more aggressive do they get smarter c) do their stats go up. aka "cheating" d) do they get more forces to play with I need to know at each level what the ai and player get as advantages and disadvantages so that i can choose the most normal accurate hostorical setting.
  16. I know most fans want a ww2 version. If that happens i am assuming it will be years off. Will this engine be used and can the graphics be improved in line with the times for such a release?
  17. i mean the standard RTS camera like Rome Total War or any other game that has the option for standard RTS camera Holding the middle mouse button down sux, plain and simple.
  18. bad news then sneaksie. Triggers and dumb A.I (relying on the mission designer) is not good. Means missions are the same old every time. And I hate the old wave attack solution too............ their are only a small amount of good things from triggered AI that is why multiplayer campaigns like in close combat are so important
  19. I think you should cater for less players and more multiplayer that is similar to the missions...... i.e close combat with 4 players

  21. Whats the point of an FPS camera mode for an RTS style game? All I want is a camera like total war or even better sins of a solar empires zoom to cursor feature
  22. i have a quad core CPU with 4gig of ram and a 8800gt video card So I have high hopes
  23. I would buy this game if it fixed all of TOW1's issues. However I would also want what I played in TOW1 to be in TOW2. So all vehicles and men + campaigns and missions. European East/West campaigns? Will this be in, or just the Desert Vehicles and Men and that is it?
