totally agree with the above comments. BFC were the ones who gave the original deadline, if they can't make it then it wouldn't hurt to drop a quick line as way of an update. Its a simple thing to do, and stops negativity towards BFC.

In my opinion it is poor business to behave this way and does not put them in a positive light, which is silly for something that is so easy to rectify. After all their business revolves around paid for upgrades and addons, which you'd  think would mean they would want to keep their current customer base happy and informed of developments, to foster intrest in further products.

Perhaps it is poor business but maybe that's one of the things I love about BFC.

BFC is run by creative artists not bean counters thank the Gods. It is a labour of love to them and no doubt they could make a Tonne of dosh working for some giant military contractor instead.

Regarding release dates, given the ever increasing complexity of modern games and BFC's finite resources, I think year quarters would be more appropriate.

You're welcome to show that it is the "incorrect one" any time you wish.  If you can not do that, then perhaps it is "the correct" one?  I'm sure you think that your way of thinking is "the correct" one.  I'm at least confident enough that I'm right that I'm willing to expose my beliefs to criticism and scrutiny.  How about you?

Nobody has the last word in this thread until it is locked.  Anybody can challenge anything posted here.

Since we're into analogies, does your wife think that your comments serve no purpose and are there just to hear yourself talk?

The best way to get the last word in with my wife is to wait till she has left for work ;)

It's probably a generational thing but us older dudes value our privacy and can't stand having intrusive programs like STEAM on our clean machines as we don't know what info is being taken from us in order to sell to marketers so that they can send us more spam.

Same reason I don't partake in "anti-social media" where you invite ID thieves and burglars to steal your stuff when you tell everyone about yourself (who the hell cares?) and when you are on vacation etc. I suppose I may be xtreme, but security was always an issue in my world.  As I said to Putin last time, "You aint hacking my computer, pal".

Hell, I still have an old flip cell phone as I detest texting and actually like talking to people using full words in the elfish language!  It's so degenerate, I know.

+1 Erwin (and I suspect BFC have a similar disposition).

But on the other hand, if the Grim Reaper has us highlighted in his manifest with fluorescent yellow marker, who is going to buy  these games in the future?

  4. I supported both the first and second invasions of Iraq.

I believed all that baloney about WMD's etc. and felt like a twat afterwards.

The so called 4th Estate let us all down miserably in my humble opinion.

Everyone takes what RT or Fox News says with a huge pinch of salt but even the BBC and The Guardian were pro invasion.

I am and was a great fan of Tony Blair and even though I believe he was acting altruistically, he must bear a large measure of  responsibility for the appalling aftermath of the 2nd invasion.

  5. @Steve - I see a parallel of the situation now in the Ukraine and indeed all of the former USSR countries  to the beginning of WW2 in Europe. In Sudentan Land and Danzig, ethnic German speakers felt discriminated against by largely nationalist governments. Hitler used this as a pretext to annex/invade both of the countries they were in.

We know some ethnic Russians speakers, stranded in what was once a Federal Union  in which Stalin cynically encouraged Russian settlers in Machiavellian plantations, feel aggrieved over issues such as diminished Russian language rights and the dismantling or moving of Soviet WW2 statues and memorials. So perhaps if those  host countries addressed those often legitimate  grievances, it would make it a lot harder for Russia's new hybrid warfare strategy.

Soft power rather than hard power...

  6. Thanks for the replies everyone.

I am playing @George MC's excellent 'Rolling Thunder'  scenario PBEM as the Russian side. I never play quick battles as I prefer playing blind PBEM authored scenarios, judging them to both more realistic and more immersive.

I have knocked out one or two of the Stingers which would  obviously mean my opponent has less defence against  my Hind Helis if they hadn't been shot down already!

I will rephrase my question which was probably a bit ambiguous.

I always attacked in pairs with the my two Hinds, theorizing the second Hind  would be covering the others back from ground threats while  the first Hind attacked. And then they would switch around for their next attack run.

Am I kidding myself that pairs or any other soft factors makes any difference in aircraft survivabilty in this game?

Just noticed that the game turns off shaders after each restart, despite the setting "on" in the "advanced" menu. Too late to get fixed in this patch?

I am having exactly the  same problem. Each time I start the the game for the first time, I have to manually hit ALT-R to get the shaders on despite them being 'On' in the 'advanced' menu.

    Running Win 7 on PC.
