  1. Plus you'd get to have your own back on the guy who always takes King Tigers or KV1's......take your own and more of them.
  2. Well i remember in Normandy there was a section of advance where they lost 400 tanks to get about 7 miles.Just full of AT and SP gun ambushes,AT teams, everything. Now thats a lot of armour wasted. Can't remember the exact details but i know there was a good lot of urban fighting (which we all know is not ideal for tanks).
  3. You mean I have to be somebody's bitch???? Well i think i'll be defending myself (and my delicate body) with a regiment of IS-3's LOL Hmmm interesting poetry, i'll work on it.
  4. I love the story of a KV ramming a Pz IV when they ran out of ammo. They knocked out the panzer but the crew in the KV were themselves knocked unconscious/shaken.Another PzIV came up to them and the crew jumped on the KV and attached a tow rope to bring it back to German lines. The noise of the crew on the hull roused the Russians and when the Pz IV started towing they turned on their engine and pulled back (wahey, tug of war).Being a bigger and more powerfully engined tank, the KV ended up towing the PzIV back to Russian lines (one presumes the German crew jumped ship). Maybe BS but if it happened then quite funny (though I dont know why the Panzer didnt just put an AP round into them at point blank range)
  5. Even in CMBO i noticed them being pretty tough little mothers. One bazooka i had flamed a stug with 1 hit but a JgPzIV shrugged off about 4 hits (some flank too) before the tanks arrived to save my bazooka team (ganging up on a turretless vehicle is just plain cruel really )
  6. Well i didnt expect to kick off a 70+ post topic but obviously I found a contentious point (and dont we all love to have a good argue ). Well im now a member it seems, when do you go from junior to normal then to senior? Is it to do with number of posts or is it time since you registered?
  7. hmmm the strange things that happen on these forums
  8. I agree with your post as a good idea of the updates to hopefully be seen in the new engine. The only issue I have with some of them is that the minimum spec will have to go up to accommodate (can you tell I have a fairly old pc ). One of my favourite things about CMBO in particular is that it can be run on really low-end machines as well as speedy beasts. Anyway the building updates in particular would be really nice to see. I’d also be interested to see a more variable nature of fire within buildings (ie. Close range fire-fight in a building in Stalingrad, the building is set on fire but does not instantly all burn and the two sides try to hold out the longest in the flames to beat the other.
  9. Ok this next one is more luck than tactical genius (in fact it was a complete blunder). Heavy armour battle with lots of M-18 hellcats (fast and hit hard ).near the end, most things are in ruins, a Jagdtiger has just flamed my second to last M18.I gave the last one a flanking order to bring him out behind the JT.OMG the JT has reversed and i've neatly put my last unit in front of his gun, We shoot - ricochet...........we're dead (range is like 10m or something).Give a reverse order He shoots - Track hit (now there's no escape) We shoot - Front lower hull penetration, KILL Now that made me feel good inside
  10. I've not used them but i understand that once they abandon their skiis, thats it.
  11. I completely agree with Abteilung. On the other hand, BFC do have limited resources so i think some of us forumites should volunteer to help the games we love so much
  12. I HEARD that prior to the release, there was a list of vehicles 'leaked' by the developers and Maus was on the list.Apparently that caused the outcry against and the development team removed it. If it was omitted to make room for genuine units that would otherwise not have featured then i am all for leaving it out.I would have liked to see the T28 included as much as Maus and other experimental units but i mentioned Maus because it intrigued me more than the other units. As for the research, yes it would have been based to some degree on guesswork but im sure it could have been done (armour thickness and angles were recorded by the builders, the gun was similar to the Jagdtiger's, speed and weight recorded etc). In the end though,i would have liked to have had it in the game.....but it isnt, full stop.im just expressing a slight disappointment at this.
  13. Sadly ive only got CMBO and CMBB and i wont be getting CMAK for while yet (going travelling from March-august).Will happily play PBEM on either of those if you like. Storm_17@hotmail.com
  14. The only thing that bugged me slightly was that it was slated to be in the game but outcry on the forum caused the developers to relent and remove it.
  15. True but including 'what ifs' as an OPTION surely should keep both sides happy. The realists simply take the options off their lists and the others have them there if they choose to use them. Roll on CM2 i say, hopefully it will be even more of a revolution
  16. You are completely correct that its possible to have a very fun and challenging game using only infantry and basic tanks but it would be nice to have the options of more outlandish things for when they may be desired.
  17. I agree, it could be a really interesting idea and make a lot of fun. One i'd always liked the idea of is to change the sides around.Imagine if Russia attacked Europe in and England,Germany and the US banded together, wouldnt that be a bit of a crazy challenge?
  18. The point i was making was that the inclusion of the Maus could have made for some fun during play.At the end of the day everybody here (except maybe JasonC ) plays CM because it is fun. You are completely correct that the Maus did not see action. Yes the Sturmtiger did see action but from the sources i have read they saw no significant action and had no significant battlefield effect.Similarly with the IS-3, I thought it was introduced at the very very end of the war in Europe and quite probably saw no action at all. Oh well, would have been nice to see it (imagine the points cost with rarity on though) and maybe the American T-28 experimental. At the end of the day all i can do really is wait for CM2 and hope that my pc can run it well(otherwise i'll just have to upgrade ).Here's looking out for railway guns and heavy fortifications (entire fortified bases?, Maginot line?) as terrain features,Maus and multi-turretted tanks as units and maybe even individual soldiers shown on screen. aaaaah the stuff of dreams
  19. I've just read the other thread about this. The maus was scheduled to be in CMBB but the grogs caused such an uproar on the forum (gamey,non-historical etc etc) that the developers took it out. I dont think the Sturmtiger or IS-3 ever really saw any much action either so why werent the grogs up in arms about that.Yes it would have made the game more obviously a game but it could be fun for the more casual player. Also they can add interest for your own personal/specialist scenarios (assault on a fortified line with sturmtigers etc).If only the grogs hadnt got too hung up on reality then we might have some really interesting scenarios available (last stand of the Maus anyone?). Anyway, im just having a grumble.Hopefully the Maus will feature in CM2 along with some more obscure and interesting units (railways guns and armoured trains perhaps?).Even if not as functional units then maybe as mission objectives - defend the railway gun etc
  20. so whats with the screenshot? Is it just a doctored pic then?
  21. Please tell me if i can get that in my games PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
  22. OMG is that a genuine mod or just an edited pic??? If its a mod please tell me where i can get it
  23. This is probably in the wrong forum (i dont recall any supertanks in Africa ) but i thought i'd get more interest this way. Has anybody ever done a mod that can insert a model of the Maus tank into CM? If not, can the modders or the game designers please add it as a patch or something.I know it was never in operation but i think it would be a good laugh to have in the right scenario.
  24. Well a similar gun was mounted on the Jagdtiger (I think it was a 128mm L56) and I think it might have been envisaged for the super heavy experimental tanks (Maus) as well. I think the most likely use of this calibre weapon in a non-mounted format would have been heavy AA as mentioned. As a side note on super heavy tanks, would anybody else like to see the Ratte tank modelled for a bit of fun in CM? It was to weigh about 1000 tons and mounted a turret with two 11inch guns (the same turret as mounted on the Battlecruisers Scharnhorst and Gneisenau!!!!). At the end of the day though it would be crazy (the idea was only ever a drawing board one anyway in reality) and only good for a bit of fun. I would quite like to see the Maus modelled and put into the game (188 tons, 128 mm main gun, 75mm secondary) if only for a fun scenario (take out that monster?).
