  1. I read that the MP-40 was an excellent weapon and allied soldiers would sometimes use captured ones rather than their own SMGs (this was taken from a book about the Normandy campaign).
  2. Now i know that when shelling a wood/forest, some shells can be detonated above ground.I hear these are more effective than a ground impact explosion (against infantry at least) Is it just because the full explosive force is projecting the shrapnel (rather than some being absorbed byt the ground) or are there other factors?
  3. I had another little one the other day.I'd been reading a thread about how good the M-18 tank destroyers were (being so fast) so made a scenario with them against some German heavies. Ended up with a Jagdtiger against 3 hellcats and 2 jacksons.Flanked it with 2 jacksons and 2 m18s and the other hid in a little valley in front of it.the four pop out on its left, 4 side shots......4 ricochets aaaah. They then beat a very hasty retreat behind a smokescreen (it looked so funny "OH **** WE DIDNT EVEN SCRATCH THAT THING RUN AWAY").The Jagdtiger turns to face them letting the other hellcat then pop up neatly behind him and put a AP round up his arse, job done
  4. No i was hoping for an online link so i could do some force planning while im at work (sadly they dont let me play CM here ).I had a quick look last night though and i will start playing the PBEM tonight so thanks anyway.
  5. Thats a great table thanks Lars but it misses out the requisition points I was looking for.I will still have a good look at the table anyway because its all useful but will have to have a quick look on the in-game tables when i get home tonight.
  6. I would do that but im at work and want to do a little planning in my lunch hour (obviously i cant access the game at work). Any links please.
  7. I’m playing a PBEM game soon and was hoping somebody could give me a link to where I can find a list of units and their costs. I want to plan out forces and see what I can afford to take for an 800-point battle. Thanks
  8. I think i need to do this for CMBB.I installed it last night and dropped the res a bit thinking it would be better and it looks pretty pants compared to CMBO (but there are sturmtigers hehehe)
  9. Forgot to mention i will be playing CMBO so i would need a list for that one rather than CMBB or CMAK (hence the apology about posting in the wrong place). Thanks
  10. Sorry for posting in the wrong forum, i just wanted a rapid reply please.I will be playing my first PBEM game soon (800 point limit).I really need an online list of the unit costs so i can start planning my force and try out differenct mixes within point limit. Thanks guys
  11. I've had an email from somebody already asking me to play an email game so that will be a good laugh once i get the hang of it. Also Amazon should have delivered CMBB to my house today (but im working today and tonight aaaaaah) will have to make time and play it soon.
  12. My one was the scenario with shermans and pershings against tigers and king tigers. I can’t deny I was having a lucky battle in general but there was one last KT in position to stall my whole advance so I tried some basic flanking (I was a complete newbie). Somehow I managed to time it so that 2 pershings came out in front of it from cover, 2 shermans from the woods to its left and one from its right. The sight of 5 different target lines from all sides was great (needless to say that the King Tiger didn’t have good enough armour for this occasion) and made me feel a real tactical genius (until I tried some other maps at least). Any similar stories?
  13. Well im hardly a CM veteran but i know that the really heavy artillery rounds will kill or panic troops even in heavy buildings (plus a direct hit will almost definitely level the building). As far as mortar damage when in buildings im not sure. my advice would be to make a scenario with troops in buildings and shell them with different calibre arty to see what happens.
  14. Hi there all CM forumites.I have to say thanks to you for getting me back into Combat Mission.I picked it up having only vaguely heard of it and loved it.Got a bit bored soon after as i was used to more simple 'gamey' type wargames and stopped playing. Read some forum posts here a few days ago and i can now say im addicted to CM again. All i can think about now is hull down positions, flanking movements and armour penetration and different angles and ranges I also have to be a little angry at the designers because i stayed up until 11 last night playing the scenario 'A matter of Honour' and i've been tired at work today.I wish i could have played it all last night though (even though i lost all my armour, back to the footsloggers). So excellent, here i am.
