  1. I am getting extremely titillated.... In the last screenshot - did the gun crew "find" the hole in the wall, or did they "make" it? David
  2. My Wife just got a Macbook...... But with only default memory....... just in case I had gaming ideas.....I think. David
  3. Hi! Is cover abstracted? If for example infantry is advancing over "open Ground" they (as far as the AI knows) are infact making use of "invisible" ground features as cover? Or in other more plainer words IWYSWYG? - Open level ground is...Duh, open level ground? Sort of connected, do vehicles provide line of sight cover against direct fire? Finaly on the same theme - CM I think (I remember some old posts?) has a problem (leastwise it gave me a problem) with the way AT/Field guns are coded which allow shots to pass straight through them - A ground hit directly in front of them is needed for a KO. ("A series of misfortunes", anyone?) Looking forward to this one! David Eagerly awaiting the release of a good WW2 Naval Sim
  4. Hey I seem to have a Keyboard wirh randomized e,r and t Keys.
  5. ..My B&W G3 is showing it's age... I just might be tempted to cross over to thr Dark Side. What with the Napoleon thing and now this I think consideration of 'early reitement' is also on the cards! David
  6. The heading says it all.... David
  7. Post Continued! Hizboula on the other hand deliberately targets civilians. Civilian casualties in areas controlled by terrorists are problematic - Are they civilians or part time terrorists? Are they co-opted/coerced/Blackmailed into helping the terrorists etc. How should the military reacts to terrorists who use civilians or civilian infrastructure as shields for their fighters/Weapons? If one walks away (keeping the moral high ground) then the terrorist wins - if the target is engaged a degree of "colateral" is very likely. As an observation - Given an exrended time frame Israel could fight a Hi-Tech Air war in South Lebanon without high concentration of ground forces (and high casualties) but because of the perceived time limitation (Public opinion, Uncle Sam) the milirary objective seems to be to achieve as much as possible before the plug is pulled,
  8. Hi JR. "What business Isreal has targetting Lebannese civilians under the pretense of targetting Hezbulla is beyond me" Herein lies one of the misconceptions of Israeli acrions in these ongoing conflicts: Israel does not purposely target civilians as an act of policy. Quite rhe contrary - Regard for civilians limits the effectiveness of the military
  9. Argh!!...... ME, youv'e just added rhree months developement time to the game - BF is now busy reprogramming to include a whole new range of NPCs... David
  10. China/Taiwan, What is needed here is an operational tie-in with Harpoon3........... David
  11. Against all odds this has turned out to be an interesting thread.... David
  12. It is unfortunate that this forum is linked to an article IMHO of such unmitigated crap. The fact that the Russians are selling/giving High-tech military equipment to Syria is no excuse for such an antisemitic/antiIsraeli/anti USA tirade. It may be that one of the problems with a simulation (game) set in a modern conflict zone is that political and ethnic feelings may be negatively reinforced. I can usually look forward to an informative and witty read when logging on here...........let's try and keep it that way David
  13. Hehee... I bet you've been laughing till the tears flowed and your sides split!. Y'all bin jerking us off for.. months! Kudos to you all! All that remains now is for you guys to roll CM:BB amd CM:AK into one game engine. David
  14. Just wondering if these Drone thingys will be directly modeled - or abstracted into the network-centric/ Borg spotting AI. IRL who actually has mission control/access to their {the Drone's) Intel and at what command level? etc... David
  15. Apple allowing (or not preventing!) their new Macintels to boot into Windows XP/Longhorn will give their potential sales a huge boost - many prospective Switchers might take the plunge if they knew they could always fall back on their tried if not so trusty Windows OS. It might not be so good for the Mac games "Porters" though. Why wait for a Mac version if the PC version is only a re-boot away. Having said that having to boot in and out of OSX and OS9 is a real PITA especialy as I currently am sharing a Mac with my wife. David
  16. Whilest posting about the GUI interface I would like in any new CM to be able to sort and edit the scenario list directly in the scenario options screen (Where one chooses a battle). It would be useful to be able to have sub folders to separate for instance different theaters, new scenarios, already played battles, large battles etc. etc. A column for comments and victory(defeat) indicators would also be great. David
  17. The shark of all these Groans will have us all 'eeling over... David
  18. My fingers are crossed that CMX2 will even be Mac compatible! In the meantime I am still waiting for Apple to make some sensible anouncement on their future rig specs. The famous "Wev'e got some great things to anounce for this year" (somewhat paraphrased) is as yet so much hot air. Oh the irony - I need to and could upgrade but the best choice available is a 2-5 year old G4 tower with maybe a CPU/Video card upgrade. Or am I missing something here or what? David
  19. To plaice the subject matter of this thread back in context I have after much oogling ascertained that the true origins of this title are more complex than would appear at first sight. The "Space Lobsters of Doom" was in fact a fall-back - the original epic being called, "Spice Mobsters of Dune" the studio hoping of course to cash in on the coat-tails of the Lawrence of A., Godfather and basket full of druggie flicks. For those "Groks" who want the full story read on; The reason for the last minute change are somewhat shrouded in mystery, However the two main schools of thought are as follows; In the run up to the release of the epic (ie after the big Bucks had been spent) it was found that that a well Known Sci Fi author might have grounds for successful litigation against the whole shebang, so the Producer/Director, Hiam A. Shmuck being the cheapskate that he was sought a real el-cheapo solution - "Just change the fecking title for Somebody's sake"! The second and more generally acknowledged (at least to those who were in the know) reason is put down to our Hiam's Secretary and (very) PA "A typo in every word" Ami Agudleigh? showing that the grey stuff lacking between her ears was more than made up for by the abundant corn coloured stuff flowing around them. (To her credit it must be noted she was spot on with the "of" even though when at a later date when her services were no longer required she was unable to arrange the words Off, F**k into a well known phrase or meaningful saying). Which is true? You may well ask.. David
  20. Is it a safe assumption that the demo will be out before Christmas? David
  21. Whoops! KIA,,,,,,, Sorry - The moniker change was targeted at M_W44 but my AI got a bit screwed-up. David
  22. Hehee KIA.. A 'wind-up" or red herring if I ever saw one.... On the topic of Pussies I have a cat called Lucy - aptly named as she is attracted/addicted to running water and is wont to perch atop of the white man's well.. A few years ago we had a semi Siamese of amost irritating disposition - always in the wrong place at the wrong time, closed doors and walls were no barrier to him so he was called Pixel.... ...a name he resisted acknowledging (He came to us from out of the blue). In fact I am sure he was of Russian extraction as he most readily answered to "Pissov" especially if rendered in a raised voice. Maybe changing your moniker to "Pissov Thelotofu" would set the tone for your posts nicely for some of your recipients. David PS Steve if you are lurking out there in the electronic ether - I think its high time for an Announcement if only to curb some of these threads - I don't Believe I've spent time going through this lot...
  23. Hi! Von Lettow - "The Ghosts of Africa" by William Stevenson is a cracking good read.. David
  24. Hi! As a result of speed-reading these threads I can with some certainty predict that the first release of CMX2 will be a complete historical campaign of all the LRDG and SAS operations in the Western desert - with some Commando Ops thrown in as teasers for future expansions.... However owing to the lack of KTigers (and scarcity of Finns) BF may get cold feet and make a last minute switch to a more European venue. David
  25. Hi! There is always the "Lok & Kee" security system used with Harpoon 3 which once set up is pretty unobtrusive and also lets you run the game without a CD in the drive. But BF please PLEASE don't even think about going the route of the NWN expansions which require the player to have an active internet connection every time the game is played. This is a deal breaker if there ever was one. David
