  1. Yes it is the graphics, but no, most of what will make SC2 has nothing t do with the visual. I can understand if you missed all the flurry of week one dialogue. A lot of the fire has died down. But SC2 is about making the game better accuracy wise, and weeding out design elements we didn't care for in SC1. It is definitely not just a cosmetic enhancement. None of us are interested in pretty pictures.
  2. Has anyone actually answered my question (not sure a lot of dialogue flowing here). Is it possible to play TCP/IP, and carry on a conversation, and cheat effectively? By that I mean, be either playing your turn, or the other person playing their AND maintain a conversation (which requires the games interface be active I assume). Because hmmm, that would be a daunting task I would think. Very impressive if a person can play there turn support lighthearted smack and actually be physically capable of doing anything else. I talk a lot in my games, I like the social element and the ability to add humour when a move just doesn't go right for my opponent. I am basically a board gamer. During all those hours of playing A3R, I certainly didn't just sit there doing nothing during my friend's turn eh. PBEM is fine. But life being what it is, and confidence levels appear to be all but buggered to hell now, I can understand if no one really trusts the security of the game any longer. That's a human response. It has taken a lot of the fire out of my interest in PBEM. I like TCP/IP though. I suspect people able to and willing to play a dishonest game under TCP/IP will be a lot harder to find. I am confident I won't have trouble getting in a good game under these conditions. I don't have a lot of them under my belt though. But I am thinking more and more, that TCP/IP is liklely going to become my SC preference. Besides, I find 6+ hours on a fri or sat is nothing to find, but finding time just about any other day seems elusive.
  3. Yep. Read a book about the first Gulf War. Stormin Norman was considered an asshole by his subordinates as he was an offensive disrespectful jerk, which naturally earned him little respect in the other direction. Thus, I have little kind things to say of the man. Big difference with Patton, is he did what he did under difficult circumstances. Stromin Norman though, was just lucky and that's that. Right place right time fighting a useless blowhard that couldn't fight his way out of a wet sack. Generals become famous for many reasons, and not all of them are deserved or accurate.
  4. LC in one move is common, France in 2 makes me suspicious hehe.
  5. The users being meddlesome types, are never willing to leave anything alone. What you are seeing, are custom sets of icons made by fanatical fans. They can be found at places like here for download. http://www.ww2n.com/schq/ Must be other places worth a look, but I have not found a better place yet though.
  6. You might find this intriguing, but I am actually Patton in this life eh Well actually I am just related through my fathers side. And since Patton has links to royalty, I should be rich eh. Well no. Drat.
  7. Read some other posts, think I figured out the code. I will leave it alone though. Public accusations just get messy.
  8. Oh regarding TCP/IP gaming, is it possible to thwart TCP/IP while having an ongoing conversation while the game is running? Just wondering? I mean, I heard it was possible to cheat in TCP/IP, but I personally would like to see someone play their turn, as well as keep up a running conversation, as well as sneak out of the game to cheat all at the same time.
  9. Bush IS a jerk, but so isn't Paul Martin eh. I ain't got time for loving politicians. Only difference between Bush and Martin. Is Bush couldn't say 10 coherent sentences to save his life. While Martin, he's just another banker that knows how to make "himself" money. If he ever cuts ME any slack, it will likely be by mistake. (oh for those that don't know, and I can understand if you wouldn't, Paul Martin runs Canada...for now). We are likely working on that. Now on the other hand. I have no problem with this comment from Rambo. "We pulled Saddam out of a rathole, waxed his sons, & liberated a country. It will take a little time to install democracy. It might fail, but it's worth a try." WMD, who cares if they were ever there (who cares if Bush even lied, hey I am used to politicians ling to me eh). Frankly, the day he went in (Bush), I was only hoping his took out Saddam. Saddam had outlived his time, and that's that. Glad it ain't my troops dying in Iraq though, because a lot of good US lads will die before that country figures out what freedom is. Sort of like trying to teach commies what free market is. And none of my views require religion eh, although, I suppose if there wasn't any religion wrapped up in all this, I guess Iraq would be a lot quieter. Kinda hard to hold a jihad against infidels without religion eh. Kinda hard to piss off jihadis until you shove down their throats they need Christ in their life to be any good. I wonder how quiet the world would be without Christians and Muslims trying to wipe each other out to save the world from each other?
  10. Never heard of him, is that a good thing?
  11. Yep, plenty of great wargames on the market that don't require you start the war in 39. Actually, most of my wargames don't equire you start in 30. I agree, play them all, because anything post 1940 will require you to be a great wargamer, as well as great at mastering the perfect opening decisions of a game of SC.
  12. Ever seen the movie Patton? Surely you jest. Any wargamer that hasn't seen Patton, likely is too young to have experienced their first woman as well I can actually quote the opening so well, I can create a virtual echo to the films dialogue (did that once at a friend's place, his mother thought it was funny "you've seen this before haven't you" she said). Sure the film is crawling with tanks that are merely american tanks painted panzer yellow. They didn't have cgi back then though eh. Didn't have computers back then either. I think it's kinda poetically amusing they used Patton tanks for german armour actually The movie is loosely based off the actual autobiography though. And as it's a film, they don't pretend it was a literal translation (it was a long book too). There are worse films eh, you might have been visually assaulted recently by Windtalkers. Listed in my Columbia DVD club buletin at 44 bucks for directors cut. Personally, they should have cut the director out of the film eh. Maybe Cage as well.
  13. Sex CT, that's where little CTs come from You're 17 right, surely you know this Kurt, sorry been distracted, yes I owe you your turns.
  14. I love SC, did when I started, still do today. Oh did I mention I will pick sex with my mate over a game of SC? Hmm you know I will actually stop playing SC when it's dinner time, especially for Shepherds pie. I actually enjoy a nice walk on a breezy day as much as a game of SC. Best thing is a bit of both on an afternoon eh. I have played SC for I think about 6 hours a couple of times. But I was at a buddy's and we had nothing else to do that day. We were playing dueling SC, or in otherwords both playing a separate game and trying to out brag each other SC has never cost me anything to play (well aside from purchase hehe). And SC2 will not worry me either.
  15. Those that hate it, also likely have had less than 50% of the required sleep for two years, likely have forgotten that females are fun, probably have not bathed properly and in general have not seen the outside world sufficiently. I have been playing SC for as long as the hard core, I have not found Jets to be so intrusive if playing independently against the AI (or anyone that insists on proper sleep and a sex life). I have not mastered most of the annoying must use gambits, and frankly still like the game. I am a veteran A3R player, and I endorse this game. I also endorse proper sleep, having a proper level of contact with females, and regular bathing though hehe.
  16. Ahh you too, see other comment in other thread. Read this (the Strategy Guide) http://www.ww2n.com/schq/ Or you are toast the second the veterans find you.
  17. Mentions parents hmmmm Mental note, appears Col. Gen. Guderian might be name picked by aggressive youngster You are so going to like the game though. But do yourself a favour (so you have a friggin chance of winning eh). Go read through the strategy guide at... http://www.ww2n.com/schq/ Or I will only just end up mopping up yet another slaughtered mess newbie that got to close to a few of the guys around here hehe
  18. Col. Gen. Guderian Glad you have enjoyed the taste the demo offers. The full game is a lot more. Warning, those that play the game night and dfay night and day night and day repeat for a month, have discovered you can get burned out playing it like that for a year hehe. I play it casually, and I like it a lot. There are a few glitches, and they are being remedied basically by the soon to appear SC2. But the game is fun. And as most games are annoyingly finite, and conclude after a month of hard core playing, you will be happy that this game does not conclude any time soon. But watch out for our jaded online playing mob, you don't want to take them toooooo seriously. It's going to take a LOT of games for you to even experience half of what annoys them.
  19. Cheating for all the ballyhoo, is only a human to human online gaming issue remember. Before everyone rushes to the conclusion it will "kill" the game, all it really does, is kill off league and or ladder gaming between people you "don't know". It does squat to harming the game during solo play vs AI, or to gaming in hotseat mode (which I like eh) as well as you vs you mode in hotseat mode. And while it will be a major bone to pick over for the crowd that enjoys human to human online gaming, I have also noticed how people absolutely rant out of control the second you mention possibly omitting the AI in a computer wargame. People EXPECT to be able to play the game solo, because quite frankly, online play being the salvation of wargaming is a myth. It is just as hard to get reliable online games as it is to get someone to your place to play in person. SOOOOOO, keep inmind, that while security IS a very big issue HC needs to address, it does NOT kill the game. It just makes everyone paranoid in online games when they sudden think they are no longer any good as an opponent (due to amazing bad luck).
  20. Winning by cheating, I feel sad for those people. I won a game once, I was really happy. All those games I have lost, it doesn't bother me. Some of my games, I reeeeeeeally lost. Was it my fault? I have no idea. Does it matter... no. Hmm, you know, I don't own a car, I don't have a gun, no credit card. Never played sports at school so no lettered jacket. Heck if I look in my shorts, it is in keeping with the fact I am also only 5'7" eh, less than the average But Les the Sarge is a true honest competitor, and that's because I don't have any weakness of character. But ya know, karma is a grand thing. Ask either of my two women. Ya I said 2. And the only reason it ain't 3 or more, is frankly I am not 20 any more hehe. You cheaters out there, you are just short dick losers. And all your dishonest wins just prove it We will likely never be able to identify ya all, but YOU know who you are. And no matter how often you "win" it will never really count.
  21. Hi guys, I am just letting you know, I am not gone, not quitting, intend to play SC till hell freezes over. But. I am closing down the posting machine until further notice. It isn't that I have lost interest, I am just taking a vacation of undetermined duration. I will be watching out for SC2 naturally. I will likely be relaxing at any of the well known personal forums known to my friends here. So, now you know where to find me
  22. 1. Anyone from General Discussions that doesn't come in here. Dorosh will do as a generic example. 2. Rambo seems a good choice. 3. Kuni (ok funny could also mean like that "funny smell" kinda funny too ). 4. Bill Macon (I think he is at least). 5. Immer (ok it's just I only understand 1 in 10 of his posts really hehe).
  23. I concur, something has to be done about isles of doom where your men even if victorious are never seen again. I don't recall ever seeing mention of sirens in the manual. So where do these men go?
