  1. In my opinion there can be only one release date for this title... quite frankly I'm surprised no one has suggested it yet.I think you all know what my vote will be ;)

Hint: "Infamy, infamy... they've all got it infamy!"

Disclaimer: I have no inside information... this is pure conjecture.

Haha, when I read the release would be fall 2008 the first date that popped in my mind was the attack on PH. You do not need to be an insider to have that assumption.

  2. Speaking of your A3R mod. If you want a simpler experience with SC2 series this mod is for you.

I say this with the best compliment to pzgndr but A3R makes me feel very much so like in a SC game. I love that mod.

Now that you have the game (both of you) go to www.cmmods.com and get that mod. I am sure you will find it is a great transition to SC2 series.

  3. So any status update for this great title? Thanks

I just started beta testing this title Thursday and I was blown away at how polished it is in design (most visually appealing SC game yet), technical stuff, code wise and the few change that were made are all for the best... the works!

  4. Also by that time one little Island was taking on the whole world. Can anyone say utter futility.Goes to show how crazy people can get.

We say that but look at today, Hezbollah kicked out Israel of Lebanon and USA is being pushed out of Iraq by resistance forces. Mind you both are well supplied and organized by Iran.

Japan was going for the american souls at home who would get sick of dying soldiers and they could then motion for peace on even terms... so they hope. But then ... KABOOM!!!

  5. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who has been inspired by Clausewitz! :)

My wargaming improved immensely after reading On War. I still think it's unsurpassed as a guide on how to beat your opponent, although there are a few contenders for that title.

Sun Tzu is still the master IMO. The difficulty is translating what he said into todays modern battlefield. His statements sound more philosophical than strategic or tactical but that is what makes them stand the test of time. I have to admit I find it difficult applying his words into today's world.

  6. The causes of ALL war is plain and simple... GREED. Simply used in disguise in other ways (religion, nationalism, etc...).

A friend of mine says if Religions were banned you would have almost no wars... I do not agree, the greedy bastards would just find another cause to use to attain their objectives.

My theory is simple, eliminate that one single emotion of GREED in humans and you have a perfect world.

  7. I look forward to giving this a shot.

FYI, the best settings for what I consider realistic diplomacy for FWeiss scenarios was this one: (From my WaW mod)

All activation #1 script that affect one minor's join % because another minor was DoW by a Major have been doubled in the possibility of getting a hit and their movement %.

Ex: If Sweden is attacked by Axis in the standard scenario there is a 75% chance that Sweden will move towards Allies by 25-35%.

In my mod the chance of this occurring is 90% and the movement is 50-70%.

You will notice that doubling 75% would be 150%. I put a cap of 90% for possible trigger and 80-90% for possible movement.

Portugal going Allies after Spain is attacked: Default scenario: 100% trigger and 55-65%.

    My mod 100% @ 80-90% movement

  8. Good idea on the Swiss... defeating them and HOLDING it would have been a much bigger challenge than what you see in game. That country is probably the best naturally defended country in all of Europe.

As for CVs, I always thought they should get higher naval attack power. As for two strikes, I say no because they did not have a HUGE fighter wing compared to a land squadron so they surely do not have the same firepower certainly not better.

  9. I tried the demo of various games, Matrix and others and I just do not enjoy them the way I do Huberts series.

World in Flames looks amazing, but I really have no interest myself as it will obviously not be a beer and pretzel type wargame and I have no interest for wargames that do not fall into this category. I am simply not a fan of micro managing.

  10. Advanced Tactics probably has a team of 5-10 people working on it... SC series is ONE man.

I do not like ANY games from Matrix, actually I have not enjoyed any other wargame outside of the SC series. So maybe SC is not for you but it is for some.

  11. ble I don't wish to play them. They'd simply not be smart enough for my needs :)

But wargame makers need to do there part in designing wargames MEANT to be played online against people. I can do many things, alas software design isn't one of them. I've a better chance of designing real world military ordnance.

If memory serves me right less than 10% of people who purchase SC and SC2 series actually play vs. human opponents.

IMHO Hubert does a a bang up job of making the game playable both ways.

  12. The turns are weeks and months, no weather was not predictable to that extent back then.

In ALL the games I have played luck has never been a deciding factor, the only time it will be is if someone tries stuff during bad weather and there is plenty of good summer weather to move forward and plenty of good clear winter weather to move as well.

  13. Weather is EASILY managed in SC2 and a veteran player like yourself should have no issues with weather.

Quite simple, summer is offense, winter is regroup, fall and spring are the ones you need to have a few preparations in case you get good weather then you might be able to make a few attacks here and there.
