  1. I like to use at least one platoon as mobile recon forces using HT's. And as somone posted earlier, I like to get into an assault position with them, and unload the troops right on them, by using advance/assault orders as they disembark. HT's are a must for me, indispensable. PS- 105mm FO's aren't THAT bad!! LOL
  2. I just had the greatest idea for a new feature to improve CM! A feature where you can hit a button, and the map will show you all areas that are visible to your troops! LOS is known for all your units anyways, but there is no button to hit to see what ALL of your men can see. It could just shade the map area that is visible a transparent color or something, letting you know at a glance what's in view.
  3. What do you guys think is the minimum caliber of Arty that can be effectively used to destroy/make abandon a pillbox? I think the quality of the crew is the single most important factor in determining the life span of a bunker. Seams to me most bunkers will be abandoned, not KO'd.
  4. YEEEEHHHAAAAAA!!!!!! Just got an email from BFC saying mine shipped out today!!!
  5. I seamed to notice a little static in the rain sounds, just a simple "click" noise every few minutes. No biggy, just annoying w/ the headphones on! Damn good mod NCrawler!
  6. Biltong, How would I go about upgrading my Inf Co. if I wanted to? Am I allowed to use Attached points rolled up to add to the original cost of these units to buy something better? If you are not allowed to use your attached points in this way, I don't see how it is possible to upgrade your units to something more expensive. I rolled up 100 points for attached units. I bought a 251/1 @ 45pts(green). I know i could use the reamainding pts to upgrade current ATTACHED units, but could i spend them on upgrading my BATTLE GROUP?
  7. Hello Andrew, love your mods!! The Heer infantry '41 is great! I was having trouble finding early war soviet uniforms. Is there a mod out there for them?
  8. I somehow want to know they havent forgotten about me!! I ordered the thing in January!!
  9. Biltong, I like your ideas. I think if you must concentrate on one campaign scenario, it must be the N Africa Axis campaign. I need some clarification on the issue of casualties. This hasn't come up yet, but I imagine its not too far away. Say I role up 20% casualties (thereby receiving only 8 men). After the battle when I'm adding replacements and calculating exp., do I simply calculate the after battle experience for them like any other unit? I guess my concern is if i have a unit ive protected as much as possible to gain exp., and then i role up "low" as replacements........i guess thats just the game??
  10. I have not updated to the 1.03 beta yet, but i t happens to me also, where units cost diff amounts between editor and QB. Don't think it's a 1.03 bug, but maybe just a game fact.
  11. Hey Foobar, Can't help you with Biltaid, but I think there is info at that same site I posted earlier. I just use pencil and paper and die. Good luck
  12. Anything over 1250-1500 pts makes it way to tough for me to give the attention I want to my units
  13. I agree with Other Means!!!! One of the most valuable changes would be to tell your mortar/arty guys what rate to fire at. 50mm mortars easliy drop 1/3 of their ammo in one turn!! This is a MUST feature for future CM games(CMAK too).
  14. Yes, CMAK is gonna be some great new meat to chew on! I agree with Biltong that keeping track of your Task Force would really make the red tape factor go through the roof. It already takes me a whole night to end a battle and get ready for the next one. Possible suggestion for BCR CMAK: Attached Arty for your BG? On a lighter note, on to Battle 5 in BCR....2 total vic's and 2 minor vic's. Another possible suggestion concerning experience. You start BCR right on the border of being Green. What if you gave it a little buffer room, say start out with 15 exp instead of 10. It is possible to have your starting squad have one man KIA and not get any kills and they are dropped to green at start of your campaign, which i dont think is exactly historically accurate. I believe the soldiers in Barbarossa should be a little closer towards Veteran than Green.
  15. Something to address leadership qualities for Platoon/Co. HQ's. I would want to under the Desert fox! It always seams as though most people like playing as Germans, and I'm one of them. But then again, these will be different Allied opponents, not these crappy Ivans So maybe more people would want to play as Allies in CMAK than in CMBB. But I still believe most people would rather be Fritzes. Maybe you could tailor it so you could choose which side you want to play as?
  16. Captain Foobar, Go to http://w1.211.telia.com/~u21117402/biltong/ Download the "BCR Map List" zip file, read the instructions there. You create a folder in your CMBB folder called "BCR Maps", or whatever you want to call it. On the second tab of that excel sheet, there is a a huge list of all the maps and each specific characteristic of it.....ie, hilliness, tree coverage, size, what type of battle, etc. Using the paramaters you rolled up for your battle, pick the closest description out of the map list to what you rolled up. The far right section of the list tells you which map pak you'll find this map in. DL that map pak and look for the name of the map you picked. Copy it into your "BCR Maps" folder you made. Whalla...now you're done. Now, i suggest going to the editor, load that map, pick out your Battle Group and adjust the specific qualities for each unit, and then hit "save"(in the editor), and save this map in the "Quick Battle Maps" folder. Now all thats left is starting a Quick Battle, and when you get to the map settings, hit "load from file"....and load the file you just saved, and tell it to import the troops as well. Now simply buy your Task Force and youre good to go! For replacements....look at note 18. After you determine the quality of the replacements you'll be getting in #58, plug the numbers into the equation to see what their After Replacement Exp will be. Hope this helps.
  17. Ability to save a certain group of characteristics for some units(their ammo, exp., leadership qualities if applicable, names, etc.) and be able to carry that to the next battle EASILY. I know you can do this in the editor now, but you have to redo everything after that battle, which is time consuming when doing a campaign like Biltong's Campaign Rules. If you could somehow save a file that has all the characteristics you want your Battle Group to have and simply import this file into the map you want to play on.
  18. Yes OBJ, The standard German practice of sending green replacements to fill in gaps in veteran units insured that as the war grew on, there were less "old hares" around. Hopefully there will be some sort of campaign feature in CMAK, or the one after that if not. Have you been using this Biltaid java program for BCR? I see lots of posts about people not able to get it to work, and i personally enjoy breaking out the die to roll up a battle, so i havent used it. But it does take me hours to get everything ready....closing a battle, adding up experience, replacements, importing the right map in, giving specific names to my units, etc. I'm only on my 4th battle, so i hope i dont get burnt out!
  19. Yes Biltong, I really have no desire to use this Biltaid program I here about....I kinda like doing the paperwork for the fights. Of course at the start, and hell, you know I'm still asking you questions, I never thought I'd start doing it b/c it looked very intimidating. Without BCR, I wouldn't be playing this game 10% as much as I am now. I guess the bottom line is a campaign feature on CMAK would be cool, if it done right, but it doesn't really matter too much. I mean we're all going to buy it anyway, and play it till our eyes hurt There are people like Biltong who write these great games so us campaigners can get our fill of the good stuff.
  20. Must have a campaign in CMAK!!!!! Adds tons of depth to a great game. BCR rocks if you like that sort of thing. I personally love working on the Battle Group sheets and keeping track of my men. Biltong and Seahawk have done a ton of work already towards a computer simulated campaign, so I think some of the hard work has been done.
  21. Wo, please don't assume we don't want a campaign!! I just somehow missed this thread, as I'm in my 4th game in Biltong's Campaign rules, and finally caught it on page 3 of the forum. BTW, BCR is awesome. I have bombarded Biltong and Seahawk over there w/ questions, and they have made this a totally new experience for CMBB. Just messing around, playing random battles where nothing you gained/lost in that battle matters after its over, well to be honest, kinda gets boring after a while, even for an excellent game like this. Makes it a little one-dimesional. Biltong's makes it so much more interesting and strategic, since you are trying to carry your men through the whole war, not just the present battle. I really think it would be an excellent idea to have a campaign in CMAK. Would give the game so much more added depth. I believe people just missed this post somehow, but I believe LOTS of players want a campaign feature.
  22. Thanks Seahawk, I understand what to do no with my IIC now, and I'm gonna have to whip them into shape quick, these wet-behind-the-ears greenhorns that they are! Question time: Do you not gain any experience points for destroying guns(AT, field, mortars, etc.)? I know you do for knocking out pillboxes, but what about just regular guns? Have a great weekend my helpful friends
