Nice - good work COG.

Agreed. I've got a couple of long time CMAK PBEMs still in progress and every time I get a new turn it seems to feel worse. Once they are finished I can't see myself going back again.

Bah! One mans sage advice is anothers pompous waffleOriginally posted by MarkEzra:Michael has given some sage advice that perhaps benefits all who have been posting on this thread.

I managed to play the game for hours when I first got it without consulting the manual once. So either it has a super intuitive UI or enough similarities to CMX1 that it made sense to me.

Yes they should have called it "Mario goes bananas in Syria" and released it on the Wii - then I'm sure it would have been all sweetness and light in these forums.Originally posted by BigAlMoho:In my opinion, there would have been very little controversy if the title had made it clear that this release is an entirely new game

It's a battle of the proof readers

One man’s meat is another man’s poison.Originally posted by GreenAsJade:It's painful to think how much more productive it might be with a more courteous approach.
But given the apparent lack of like-minded people, well... I'll drop it for another year or so

I don't really care. It's only a game. I have far more important things to get excited about - like trying to get my daughter to clear out all the soft toys she has cloaked my monitor with.Originally posted by GreenAsJade:How many BFC posts did it take to acknowledge it?

It's not THE issue...it's YOUR issue. The issue for most people is the bug being fixed. Surely time is better spent on that.Originally posted by GreenAsJade:I'm sorry, but that doesn't address the issue.
-
IIRC that is by design - otherwise the low amount of main gun ammo would vanish in a couple of turns. Was the upper case title absolutely necessary?
-
Have you been drinking?Originally posted by GreenAsJade:If not, this is what pisses me off about BFC. So slow to acknowledge supportive efforts.

Good work Sir.

Much of that list is not anything to do with WEGO functionality. I'm not disputing your issues but they are not all WEGO issues.Originally posted by Niessuh:-I should watch and wait until the entire turn ends
-Terrain shows damage done at the start. You know who's going to die from the begining
-Ammo levels during repeat belong to the last moment
-Can't fast forward
-Can't babysit units while turn lasts. And this is mandatory now.
-Couldn't put my unit right where I want at the order phase (like hull down/follow vehicle)
-Delay time receiving orders depending on unit experience.
-Can't modify waypoints.
-Stacked orders don't work properly + want to hide at the end of the move
-Go to the striker/take ammo/return to combat is problematic.
-Load/unload units too.
-
Agreed - first hearing those I had to check I was playing the right game!Originally posted by Nidan1:One of my real disappointments in this game was the re-using of the cheesey American English voice files from CMAK.

What missed WEGO functionality are you talking about?Originally posted by Niessuh:Dear Battlefront. I guess...what if instead of battle with all this rants and grunts you try to restore the missed functionality WEGO has?

Are you saying you would prefer this to how it is currently implemented?Originally posted by Redwolf:It is therefore safe to say that people who have a computer twice as fast as the average computer would at most have 30 seconds blue bar.
-
The blue bar could easily take more than a minute in CMX1 - when you could do nothing except watch a blue bar. But that was not a kludge - it was perfection.Originally posted by sross:The WEGO system is a kludge because you have to sit through the whole minute and can't fast forward like the old one.
Once the action starts in CMSF surely you save time? No waiting for a blue bar - you watch a turn of action - which you would need to watch anyway - and can them move directly to the next turn. IMHO the early turns of inaction - and having to wait a minute to progress - are outweighed by the improvement once the action starts - which in most battles should be the majority of the game.

I genuinely do not understand why so many people are saying this.Originally posted by JonS:</font><blockquote>quote:</font><hr />Originally posted by Bahger:
WEGO in CMSF is a kludge.
WEGO TCP/IP is gone (for the moment?). Ok, I get that, although _personally_ that has zero impact _for_me_.
WEGO PBEM is better in terms of fewer emails/turn, but is otherwise the same. Well, apart from the blue bar. But how is this a kludge? </font>

Yep - this whole thread being in this forum mainly.Originally posted by Si32:Something is terribly wrong here.

Where is that music from? It reminds me of something from the Black Hawk Down movie.

I would guess new modules would also contain at least one new campaign and several new scenarios. Maybe some new voice acting for the Brits.
Good news!
