  1. Hello:

Would like an alert when enemy artillery falls (e.g. a colored square at the top of the screen where we get those colored arrows to indicate units). In a large map it can he hard to hear the smaller mortar rounds fall. You only hear it if you are checking that part of the map.

When some kind of graphic alert you would know to go looking for the spotting round. Easy to miss as there is not always action on every part of a map.

  2. Hello:

Having an awful time aligning groups on a ridge line. There is 9 in a group. They align behind each other so only say 5 of them are on the ridge. When I do a Hunt or Slow command to get to edge forward it doesn't work out somehow.

I think I am supposed to see 3 action spots highlighted as the destination for any movement command? Also for a Face command? But I can only see one AS highlight in yellow and maybe another one in very light yellow so it's hard to see it.

Any help appreciated. I have a lot of troops in this scenario but if I cannot get more of them on the ridge line the old "quantity has a quality of its own" adage is not going to work here.

  3. Did the CW forces not lead with tanks in some of those operations near Caen (Epsom maybe?)? It seemed crazy to me. It was a night attack I believe so they were covered somewhat. I thought the idea was that the tanks create the breakthrough and the infantry mop up?

    Thanks,

    Gerry

I think you can largely blame that on the period. To some extent after 1942 and to a greater extent after 1943, the increasing availability of anti-armor weaponry for the infantry meant that armor was no longer the unchallenged master of the battlefield. During the first two or three years of the war it might have been the case that massed armor could go anywhere it wanted to go, but that was no longer so true after the midpoint of the war.

  4. Hello Bil:

    1) Question about this:

"Finally on the other side of the map I had one Pz-IV creep forward in the hopes of getting a spot on the Sherman he has posted on the backside of the Villa."

Did you use Hunt here? I thought I read where you wrote one time about only 2 speeds for tanks, Quick and Fast, to minimize time in LOS/LOF of enemy AT assets?

    2) How do you get into hull-down positions? Using Hunt or Slow?

Thanks. Great write-up by you and ND here.

  5. Isn't a game forum there to allow fans of the game, even fanboys dare I say, to have a chat and learn, have fun, etc. (Sometimes I am in stitches at some of the funny posts.)

Being part of a game forum shouldn't have anything to do with using correct searching techniques, etc. We are tested at work on a daily basis. Why not just let people post questions and those that want can answer them?!

  7. Hello Bil:

I am trying to glean whatever I can from these AARs. One interesting thing for me is how you shut down your initial attack after it had failed. Seems now you are getting everything together for the main attack. That is a good thing for me to note; don't keep pushing when there is little chance of success. Back up and prepare for the second attack using all the information you have gathered. This is probably obvious to many!

  8. Hello All:

By pivoting I mean like we can do with a unit when Unit Lock is active.

Sometimes I want to go to a building where I don't have a unit and check which sides have windows, doors, etc. Is there a way to do a pivot as in the unit lock example above? It would make camera movement great for these situations.

If not, I hope it's a feature that could be added.

    Thanks,

    Gerry

  9. Another wish:

Clicking on a waypoint, of the non-active unit, to select it. If you have a string of waypoints extending quite a distance and want to add a pause to the 3rd, you have to select the unit that often is off-screen. It would be really nice to be able to click the waypoint that you see on the screen.
