Hello:
Thought I would try the CMBO demo while waiting for CMBN. Is there a tutorial to help you play through the scenarios in the demo? My StuGs were all knocked out pretty quickly by the Shermans so obviously I need some help.
Thanks,
Gerry

Hello All:
Thanks for the tips. Using view 1 and 2 plus skirting the edges really helps. And I am getting much better flying around the board.
I now realize one difficulty I have trying to play a computer wargame. When I play ASL I spend a lot of time evaluating the board, etc. One of the tendencies for me with a computer game is to just try and start playing right away. I now see that a lot of analysis of the map and forces is necessary before hitting Go and I have to resist the urge just to start playing.
Take care,
Gerry

Hello All:
Just trying out the demos. Have a very hard time looking at the map and seeing elevation changes.
1) Is there a particular view (camera angle, zoom level, etc.) that is best to see elevation changes?
An example: I read the AAR for Fruehlingswind and it talks about two prominent terrain features being the two ridges. I couldn't see them! If I use view "1" I have a very good view of terrain in front of me but obviously then cannot see the big picture. I had lots of difficult also with the CMBB demo on the steppes.
2) I have seen screenshots with some grid overlays that help - which one do you find best for accentuating the elevation changes?
Thanks very much,
Gerry

Hello All:
I am interested in buying CMBB. But I am confused about a few things (see my "CMBB vs CMAK Manuals" post for manual issues).
I saw something about Combat Mission 2: Barbarossa to Berlin Special Edition.
How is that different from the CMBB on the Battlefront website? I don't see "Special Edition" mentioned on their website.
Thanks for you help.

Hello All:
Thinking of getting CM and debating whether to just get CMBB or the CMMB/CMAK Bundle Pack.
1. In the CMMB/CMAK Bundle Pack webpage I note that it includes "32 page printed CMAK Quick Guide with removable Quick Reference Card". I do not see this in the CMAK (alone) webpage. Is that correct?
2. It seems the CMBB manual for US buyers is a printed book. But for CMAK you just get a PDF file, correct? I ask as a bounded book is so much nicer than printed pages.
I would prefer to just start with CMBB but if there are additional items in the Bundle Pack I might consider it.
Thanks in advance,
Gerry

Hello All:
Thanks for all your responses. I appreciate your help and of course have a few more questions.
Taking the Russians in Yelnia Stare as an exampe, what kind of micromanagement is used by good players. Do you set a target for each of the MGs? Do you have some of the tanks target something before they hunt/move. How do you herd the cats as someone said? I thought I was moving the Greens/Conscripts with their leaders but they still crawl backwards.
Does the manual and/or the oop Strategy Guide explain how to manage these things? I can see that if I can get involved at this level I would like it.
Thanks again,
Gerry

Hello All:
First time poster. Playing a bit with the demo. Have played ASL fro a number of years and really like the control (I think) I have over the situation plus the detail in the game. I can see my tactics/strategies succeed or fail.
However, when I try CMBB I cannot really see how I am influencing the outcome (please don't blow a gasket). Take Yelnia Starie (sp?) in the demo. What can I as the Russian attacker do here to win the scenario as opposed to just pushing wood (men, tanks) forward.
Or in Citadel Schwerpunkt? Here I seem to just Hunt with the tanks.
What I am trying is to appreciate CMBB as it seems an excellent game. But I cannot see how I am affecting this as the play is so "automatic".
Thanks in advance,
Gerry

Thanks for the links. I assume with Hull Down you just put your nose over the hilltop? As my tanks are moving it is not a case of them being dug-in.
