  1. After trying to make a torrent and failing (sorry Poesel for pestering you about this) I managed to put the film of the most exciting part of yesterday´s CTF online as a rar file (unpack with winrar or something similar) (this was necessary because avi is not allowed on free webspace voila: http://jby.uttx.net/dtctffilm.rar short AAR: i placed a "road" of jammers to the enemy falg and slowly approached with my thor, surprising both Poesel and Nexus (it can be done!). After capturing the flag Phonan plucked my thor and flag and flew off to our flag. nexus managed to grab our flag just in time and...see the movie what happened next later in the game there was a wonderful chase: nexus with our flag pursued by jung and me...it was like a nature film where little bambi is chased by a pack of wolves A draw in the end, but definitely one of the best CTF games ever.
  2. We had the mother of all CTF games yesterday. Nexus, Poesel & Stonewall vs. me, Jung & Phonan. I will post some pics and maybe a film (this might require Poesel´s assistance) later today.
  3. Since you can only see one side, the (enemy)flag carrier disaprears when out of sensor range or LOS (I presume)
  4. yowza! it will be tested in depth tomorrow !
  5. Any agreement yet on when the semifinals will take place?
  6. The answer is in this thread isn´t it? (Clay´s post) Limit the inventory in a .scenario file to to non AA units. see Clay´s post.
  7. Raid started 1on1 against Jung, this is difficult in any case, when bboyle entered it became impossible, but I did try out a few tactics, the "hanging around the enemy base at medium distance" worked quite well (copied from Jung btw), the 76mm Paladin charge from the east floundered on the rocks, too difficult for the bots to maneuver (plus being attacked by BB from the flank) CTF me, Stonewall and BBoyle vs Jung and Poesel: lots of fun, we left our base defence to the bots and turrets and went for the flag. Some quite cool maneuvering of Stonewall and me sneaking up to the enemy base with EMWs. In the end we snatched each others flags, and I must complement Poesel (flag carrier) on surviving. Probably we should have played less risk averse with 2 of us going afetr poesel.. I wish I had a film of one moment...Jung had killed my flag carrying Paladin and I dropped right in again. While I was dropping in, 2 enemy dropships dropped in really close. During this descent both enemy DS were killed by cobra missiles, very cool to watch. We "won" on points, but as stated earlier, only flag capturing counts in CTF for me. Poesel and me took Jung´s Alpenfestung with a mighty armored pincer movement. It was pretty cruel, but not crueler than my defeat against BB and Jung on raid Yeah, lets play together next time Jung! Oh, our poor enemies
  8. yay! congratulations to all semi finalists! I hope some ditherers who own the game but aren´t playing or are comtemplating on buying DropTeam are reading this thread. We´ve had eight different matches, and despite being played by 8 fairly seasoned DT players, every single game was played using varied tactics. Sooo, house to house territory Redcon-5 vs. Nexus6 and Junglist vs. Phonan Please play ASAP, but more imporatantly, grace us with your presence at today´s Bloody Sunday! cya there!
  9. yes, I do, especially after having been humiliated myself
  10. So the semi finals: Redcon 5 vs. Nexus6 and Jung vs. ? Clay, Phonan, let´s roll
  11. That was a good shot, since I was dropping an EMW, which would have negated your hurricane. Beside the point of course, since i couldn´t drop in my 120mm Apollos for lack of dropships.
  12. I fiddled around with the XML file and created a thor attack vs. infantry defense in raid. Don´t do this, massive infantry guided by (8) bots made my PC go to its knees. [ August 25, 2007, 02:53 AM: Message edited by: __Yossarian0815[jby] ]
  13. And the winner is : Jung game one , me defending, Jung wins with 915 to 249 game two, me attacking, Jung wins with 1053 to 141 AARs: game1 My plan here was to channel Jung into coming through the SW. I sealed off the NW plain with mines, put an engineer in the SW tower to slow him down , and ion thors on the SE and N mountains. This plan worked well, actually too well But Jung had an antidote, he swamped me with light units, slowly wittling away my defences. From my kill scores you can see that it was a massacre. with really jaw dropping timing Jung managed to slip a thor to the bridge, and it was really in the last minute. unfortunately my control over the bots was not perfect, the bots I had given no orders had been nicely dropping near the bridge, but for no apparent reason 3 of them decided to take a day off in the gulch at its western end in the last minutes of the game  game2: my plan: recon first, then deliver the killing punch. Jung had made the usual attack routes difficult so I attempted a new trick that nearly worked. I feinted in the SW and NW with light units and secretly slipped an emgineer in the NE. The engineer crossed the desert unmolested and I was able to take over his eastern base, giving me an AA covered approach, as soon as I took the base a heavy attack force dropped in, that punched it´s way through to the bridge. having cleared his AA, I mass dropped turrets around the N of the bridge: this is what the looked like 5min to the end: This was going decidedly well, Jung´s forces were in dissaray, but then it happened...I ran out of dropships :sigh:, being unable to feed in reinforcements jung was able to push me off the bridge again. If only I had waited 5 more minutes with the implementation of my plan I would have easily won. Again, timing decided the match, though through my faulty planning in this case.
  14. Thx Clay! jby and Jung are playing on Delta Pavonis today starting 4:30 to 5:00 pm EST. Do not join!
  15. I sent Clay an email, but I´m not sure if it will reach him in time. Alternatively we could host a game each, but I don´t know how well that would work.
  16. jby and Jung are playing on CZ today starting 4:30 to 5:00 pm EST. Do not join!
  17. Imperial Grunt has given his place in the tournament to Jung in the interest of getting the tournament done faster. Thx IG! Thus the quarter final will be jby vs. Jung. Probably this friday. Phonan & Clay: If you also could have your games on friday, Clay could set DP to Dead Gulch objective with (2 players max)from say 3pm EST to 9pm EST. Jung and me would have our games early due to my timezone, say 3pm to 5pm approximatley.
  18. Gah, don´t remind me, well they (the bots) are now enjoying the spice mines of Kessel!) Despite offering several approaches to the objective, I think a massed attack is the only real option in this map. It is simply too easy for single (human) defenders to pin down small groups of attackers. On slugfest we (the attackers) were sort of in disagreement on which way to attack. Unfortunatley both our initial attacks were covered by AA. a known unknown, but a bit of bad luck that both groups got completely vaped. still, our maneuvering battle in the SW of the map at the end was very WWIIish, lots of fun. Except for one moment were I had Nexus´ turret side in my sights and the round bounced off    , 1 in 99% chance that that should have happened, but thats war for you. That was CTF on St.Pauls, lots of fun, I got close to your flag twice, while BBoyle and Rua held the fort. Phonan´s viper was plucking away my bot tanks again  , but the next time my autogun was expecting him
  19. Are vehicles and infantry equally strong in securing an objective? And is there a difference between a full or partial infantry team?
  20. oh, territory defintely. Sorry for the confusion, I have to admit I didn´t even know that house to house has CTF .
  21. bb, CZ (the server)is currently running base(no mod),m because of the tournament. the CZ mod should run in standalone though. BTW i have to start a standalone game with a mod to get DT "primed", so I can join a mod server. you can tell which mod is running by looking at the description window below where you choose the mod.
  22. Since this seems to be commonly accepted I propose the following commandment: Thou shalt not use mines in a CTF game! Something else on CTF games I´d like to discuss (admittedly not a big deal, but maybe it could be done easily): I think the point making regime isnt right for CTF. Current practice rewards the larger team in matches with victories that are essentially draws, since the team with more humans will always get more points for killing bots. IMHO points should only be awarded to flag-related activities: i.e.: 100 points for capture, 10 points for recapture of your team´s flag. etc. [ August 20, 2007, 02:04 AM: Message edited by: __Yossarian0815[jby] ]
  23. ThePhantom, Nexus, did you take a score-screenshot perchance? Clay, good to hear, interesting, since Battlefront-steve said that full playback would be impossible for CMSF for performance reasons. Jung, did you get my email?
  24. Semi finals 1) Redcon-5 vs. Nexus6 2) ? vs. ?
  25. but, but,... There is one snag with the New-Geneva Space-Viking Convention. The bots didn´t sign it. More often than not they will trundle into the gulch, the tracked ones with a greater chance of survival since 1.30. So if you want this rule, the defender has to mine the gulch on both sides to make accidental bot access impossible. i guess one could also alter the height map to make vehicle access impossible... Clay: replay...very cool. I wouldn´t worry so much about file sizes as the performance hit. BTW I had thougt about "embedded war reporters" for the finals. Each side would have a non playing player (sitting in a mercury in a corner) record the match with game cam.
