  1. The time it took for Wittman's Demise to load was 2 minutes and 45 seconds. Not a big issue but I will interested in seeing how long some of the smaller scenarios take to load
  2. Earlier today I updated to version 2.0 and have a couple of initial comments and a question. The graphics for the armoured vehicles looks better in that I hardly have any of the cross hatching I experienced in previous versions with shadows turned on. I like the new armor target arc command. It takes a lot longer to load a scenario. I did load two, Amreville and Wittman's Demise. Just wondering if other people have noticed this as well. Once my friend upgrades it will be time to try out one of the above scenarios by PBEM. Looking forward to it.
  3. Okay, that explains it, I have to apply patch 1.11. Thanks to everyone for the feedback.
  4. That is exactly what I did but it still didn't show up as a scenario under Battles in the game. Are you patched to 1.11? Thanks.
  5. I did extract the .btt file to the scenario folder. I just realized that I have also not yet applied patch 1.11 again for fear that it will screw up my current PBEM game. Maybe that is the problem?
  6. I downloaded the Amfreville scenario from the repository, unzipped it in to my scenario folder but don't see it in the list of battles that I can play. First question is that there are a number of other files after unzipping. I assume that the only file that needs to be placed in the scenario folder is the .btt file. Secondly, I have not yet upgraded to 2.0 as I am waiting to finish my current PBEM scenario playing. Could this be the issue? i.e. is Amfreville playable only using 2.0? Thanks.
  7. I just want to clarify my options when comparing getting the 2.0 upgrade by download now vs. waiting for the Market Garden module by download. As I understand it, by purchasing and installing the MG module, my base game and Commonwealth module will automatically be updated to version 2.0. Is that correct? Secondly, what is the anticipated price by download of the MG module? Finally, when is the MG module expected to be released? Thanks.
  8. Thank you for the reply. I clicked on Real Time Protection then Configuration at the top right. It came back with the message: For this page Expert Mode is Necessary Do You Want to Activate Expert Mode Now Anyway, enough to scare me away as I am no expert. I quess another option for me is to merely turn off Avira when I want to try the demo.
  9. I already have Combat Mission Normandy and the Commonwealth Pack installed and have not had any issues running it. Yesterday I downloaded the Fortress Italy demo but when I try to start it up the following message appears: "Access to file c:\Program files\...\CM Fortress Italy Demo.exe" TR/Crypt.XPack.Gen was blocked. I have Avira antivirus free installed on my PC. Any help would be much appreciated
  10. Sorry, just looked at the wording of my post. What I meant to say was that all my HQs and FO are Denied when I click on the air support button. I wanted to attack some German tanks.
  11. Playing the Campobasso scenario as the Canucks. None of my HQs and the Forward Observer are "Denied" when I click on the airplane icon. Have read the manual and I think I am following the proper procedure. Any help would be appreciated.
  12. Haven't tried CMFI yet as I understand that Arnhem will be out shortly and will include the upgrade to 2.0. I plan on getting Arnhem. Where do I get the hotfix with the improved shaders? Thanks.
  13. The biggest problem and disappointment I currently have with the graphics in CMBN is when I turn on shadows. I get a lot of cross hatching on my tanks and vehicles. I hope this is corrected in the upgrade. My video card is a HIS 1GB GDDR5 Radeon HD 6870 which I bought earlier this year so its not like I have an old video card.
  14. My thanks to everyone for their comments and replies. Will the new shader code be included in a future patch for CMBN?
  15. As LukeFF said, its not the video card. I have a HIS 1GB Radeon HD 6870 which I bought about two months ago because my old card was having trouble running CMBN. I also have the settings for CMBN set at "higher quality". The game runs smoothly enough, its just the graphics distortions that I referred to that I hope have been corrected in CMFI.
  16. In CMBN I get a lot of cross hatching (I hope that is the right term) on the tanks depending on what angle they are being viewed from. These are angular lines on the tank that really spoil the effect. Also plowed fields are also distorted when viewed from certain angles. Hopefully these two issues have been corrected in CMFI. Someone commented that the rendering of the infantry looks improved in CMFI. One of the improvements I would like for infantry animation is the elimination of how they sometimes appear to skate, i.e. their feet do not move but they skate or glide.
  17. On a related subject, I live in Canada and I believe that shipping to Canada is expensive which is why I have the download version of Combat Mission Battle for Normandy. If my understanding is correct, the DL version of Combat Mission Fortress Italy will be available after August?
  18. They are on a road. Tanks and half-tracks moved through that spot without any difficulty ahead of the two tanks. I am going to keep giving them orders to see what happens.
  19. Well the reverse order didn't work either. Both tanks just sit there with their turrets traversing back and forth. Neither tank has a message indicating they are immobilized. The terrain is by a wooden fence on a road. Very strange.
  20. I'm currently playing the Sticking It Out scenario as the Germans. Two of my panthers have not moved in 5 minutes even though I gave them movement orders every plot phase. They just sat in the position with their turrets moving from side to side. I finally issued both the order to reverse to see if that would get them moving. Has anyone else experienced this problem? Thanks.
  21. I just returned from France and I visited Omaha and Gold Beaches. Unfortunately, it was a tour so I wasn't able to get to Juno Beach. Being a Canadian I would have loved to checke it out. What surprised me about Omaha was how steep it is from the beach to where the American Cemetary is. At Gold there are still sections of the mulberry right on the beach itself and a little further out in the channel. I didn't know there was a scenario on Omaha Beach. Where can I download it? Thanks.
  22. I'm a little confused about line of sight. I have placed HQs and or observers on the top floor of a 3 storey building but they do not have a line of sight over a 2 storey building that is directly in front. I have had an AT gun hidden behind a hedge knocked out by an enemy tank. When I tried to target the tank, the target line indicated that there was no LOS to the tank so the AT gun could not fire at it, yet the tank was able to target and knock out my gun. My last question involves low walls. A MG directly behind a low wall did not have a LOS through the wall. I thought that maybe it was because I had ordered the MG to "hide" so I deleted this order, but still no LOS. Couldn't find much in the manual about LOS. Any feedback would be much appreciated.
  23. Thanks for the replies. One of my original questions was, can you play campaigns by PBEM?
  24. I just purchased the game about 10 days ago and I can see that there are a lot of mods. I have a couple of questions about mods. I read the following from the thread titled How To Install Mods. HOW TO CREATE A MOD FOLDER: Open your Combat Mission Battle For Normandy folder...go to the data folder...If you do not have a z folder in your data folder...create a folder, name it z and place it in your data folder. It's that simple. All your mods will go in the z folder. WHAT CAN I PLACE IN THE Z FOLDER?: Brz files, BMPs and WAVs, Text files, and any folders containing the aforementioned. For more detailed info there is a readme in the Mod Tools folder of your CMBN game. For more detailed info see pages 150-152 of your CMBN manual or the PDF manual. From what I can understand in reading the manual, once I unzip a mod in to the z folder, the program will automatically load that mod. (1) If in the future I decide that I no longer want that mod, is it as simple as deleting it from the z folder? (2) Does installing mods change the way or add additional steps to installing updates? For example, if I install a mod, what happens when version 1.2 is released? Thanks.
