  1. I'd like to have random startups. Maybe every piece could start in one of three places, the program generates a random number, and the piece gets placed their. (Of course the capital would always have a unit). I'd also like to see the effects of winter increased slightly. Either by reduced movement or supply, or increased partisons as provided by the existing software. I'd also like to see a larger map, and Japan and the US involved more. Just my two cents.
  2. Just wanted to mention that we have one effect of weather, that is the increase in partisons from 15% to 75%.
  3. I'd just like to put my stamp of approval on random startups. Maybe every piece could start in one of three places, the program generates a random number, and the piece gets placed their. (Of course the capital would always have a unit).
  4. Shaka of Carthage, the turns currently are laid out as follows Summer 1 week Fall/Spring 2 weeks Winter 1 month My change would be to make summer and winter 2 weeks, while keeping all other rules the same. This results in more chances of partisons in the winter (since there would be more winter turns). This would be the only change. If it was too difficult to change the way turns are done, I would change the partison pct. in the Winter from 70% to 90-95%. Remember that Hubert Cater wanted the russian winter to affect the Germans only, in a reasonable way that was easy to program. Thus he made partisons go from 15% chance up to 70% during the winter. I'm just extending what the programmer already intended by either extending winter or by increasing the % chance for partisons. This could also be toggled off, since it is already a listed option. In practical terms, the added result is only 1 or 2 more partisons per year. So we see slightly reduced supply, and the usage of a plane or two to kill this unit. This would remove a slight bit of pressure from the russian line in the winters of 42 & 43. (The axis isn't usually deep enough into Russian in 41, so partisons wouldn't show up, in my opinion, in 44 I'd hope the Russians are finally pushing back the Germans). Most people(look at the bidding system) think that the Germans have an advantage. This would tweak that advantage slightly, and can be done with the existing programing in the game now.
  5. I'm mainly trying to work with the existing software. Something that could come in a new patch or would easily be implemented into SC2. The easiest thing to do would be to change the partison rate from 75% to either 90% or 95%. Minor tweek, but easily done. Changing to equal two week turns would be prefered, while keeping the exact same rules.
  6. I was just reading the SC user manual and came across the following: "There will be a 15% chance of partisan activity during Axis occupation of the USSR. Partisan activity consists of the creation of partisan units somewhere behind Axis lines within the USSR. This percentage increases to 75% during winter occupation months". First, does this increase really happen in the Winter. If so, we have some options to make the winter more miserable for the Germans. We could A) Make all turns 2 weeks a piece. Thus instead of just 3 winter turns, we would have 6.5 winter turns, thus twice as many turns at 75% chance of partison activity. or Keep the weeks as they are, but change the pct to 90%, almost guarenteeing 3 partison units per Winter. This would make life a bit more hectic for the Germans during the Winter, much like real life. This should also be in the realm of the existing programming.

  8. Just wondering if jmbunnelle is still working on his new terrain mod. Haven't read or seen any emails from him lately.
  9. What do you do when the French take Belgium on turn one? The city was hit with two airs, then a bomber, then two armies. Med air was operated onto south Magniot line. This happened in my current PBEM game. I had 3 airs & HQ to defend, didn't stop them though. I then pounded with three airs, and Armie, not much damage. I still need to take Denmark and Poland. I imagine I'll just continue to pound my way through Belgium then France. Another question. If you can hit a HQ with 3 airs as opposed to the army in front of it, do you do it? 10. Very interesting so far. I do think you must also look at starting forces for each side in MPP terms, as well as the fact some of the games give MPP (the term we are using) as soon as the game starts in 1939(Russia in 3R and COS come to mind). Looking forward to Germany. Thanks for the research. I'm playing 3R on the computer right now(with updated patches that improve the AI), as well as SC. Might even start up a game of COS and see how it compares.
  11. I would like to see twice the map size, more options of who to invade, Japan involved, a couple more techs, as well as them equalized a bit, and a bit more variety of units, more random choices, and options, a great Ai, etc. Do this, and here is my $30.
  12. If strategic movements were allowed to any in supply space this would be possible. Remove the strategic movement limitations that are in the game now. I'd increase the cost of strategic movement to balance this.
  13. I believe Spain joins the axis if England is invaded and a city is taken, maybe London. Not sure on Turkey.
  14. I think what he is looking for is this: If you could randomly deal out 0,1,2,3,4 damage, and take 0,1,2 damage back, he would rather have it be deal out 2 damage, take 1 damage, without any randomness playing into it. Go with the exact average each time.
  15. I'd always expect the computer to gain expierience faster as it knows the exact equations for gaining it. Which battles to fight, etc. I would like some info on how much to reinforce.
  16. Partisans can be turned on and off. The allies need all the help they can get.
  17. BRPS worked like this. Every country had a growth rate, from 20% to 50%. Every country received BRPS for the whole year. Lets say 100 BRPS. At the end of the year, what every you had left, say 40 BRPS, would be multiplied by you growth rate. So growth rate of 50%, multiplied by 40 BRPS, gives 20 BRPS. Then add this to the 100, so you have 120 BRPS for the next year. This could be done in our game as follows. Assume per turn of 120, with lets say 700 saved for end of year, dividing by number of turns for the year, 14, giving us 50. Multiply by our growth rate of 50%, giving us 25. Add this to our current per year turn of 120 gives us 145 per turn for next year. Other modifications would be required, but this would make things more interesting for England aid to France, Germany invading or save up some points, USA wait a year to invade, etc.
  18. Also in Third Reich you could save BRP's and increase them each year. Thus you could have an economic strategy as well. Wouldn't that be sweet.
  19. Great posts. I'd also like to see some random variables. Something that might allow a good player to beat someone that is slightly better than them. I'd also like to see some of the techs improved, as many are unused.
