  1. ZIP has never been hard, I just find it being one unneccesary step when the program could do it for me. But then again the PBEM management in CM is equal to null, there's a lot more you could do with it, that would remove the need to depend on external programs.
  2. I would really like to see the option: "Save as zip" I only suggest this as implementing this would make PBEM'ing a lot smoother and because the zip format is widely known documented and available as source codes all over the internet =) Any other PBEM'er out there agree?
  3. I for one really don't want any of that type of interaction, it goes against the style of CM in every way. If you want that play Battlefield 1942.
  4. *mumbles something of fallback positions and the nobility of trench warfare* [ January 25, 2003, 08:56 AM: Message edited by: hardcampa ]
  5. This scenario has been designed for 2 players PBEM or TCP/IP. HC-Grindstone Summer this time : If you play against the AI, don't expect the AI to perform better than in a Meeting Engagement, even though this is an Axis Attack.
  6. I've made yet another winter scenario. Hope you like it. It's made for PBEM and TCP/IP HC-Eastwards You can also play against the AI, I would take the Axis in that case as they attack. As I posted a picture with my last scenario. Here's two from this one: ( to see more, play it =P ) [ January 23, 2003, 04:37 PM: Message edited by: hardcampa ]
  7. Hi guys. I have seen that you're using the forums here to find TCP/IP matches. To me, well it seems a bit awkward. If you want you can use a server I have set up which enables you to chat to each other directly. All you need to do is to click this link: Chat Then just click the red CM icon at the bottom and voila, you are now talking in the CM channel. Alternatively bookmark http://cmirc.mine.nu and connect whenever you want, this server is up 24/7. As you connect immediately to the IRC (chat) server you will be named CMGuestXXXX, just type /nick yournamehere to rename to something else, or else click the name in the upper left and type a new name. This irc server is also using services, so if you want you can register your name or a new channel. That way you can take your name back if some newbie takes your name I've added a bot to the channel CM which will control it some as well (kick if someone freaks out and starts to cuss all over). Please Notice: I don't mean to insult or step in the way of anyone else if you guys already got a good IRC. I just felt it was a good and easy way to chat and discuss maps before you launch a game, or talk about AAR's with each other. Anyway this server will stay up even though I'm not available all the time. You're welcome to idle. Don't be shy [ January 22, 2003, 10:00 AM: Message edited by: hardcampa ]
  8. Thank you, I'm looking forward for a review =) [ January 21, 2003, 01:28 PM: Message edited by: hardcampa ]
  9. Click here to download it: Clear Winter Days - Scenario I made this map for 2 player but it works just fine against the AI as well. Especially if you're Allied. It isn't based on a historical event, instead I tried to make an interesting map with a good fight. Guys you're my judge and jury, so I appreciate feedback. Here you got a little screenie from it so you can get an idea of it before even loading it =): [ January 19, 2003, 08:20 PM: Message edited by: hardcampa ]
  10. My elevation maps works =/ I used Photoshop to create a BMP and saved the BMP in 8 bit windows format. However just a few suggestions on future updates to the editor, here's what I really would like to see in it: The ability to import and overlay (partly transparent maybe?) an actual picture/map, thus the mapmaker can simply fill in the map features he wants right ontop of the picture. The ability to scale imported images to fit the current map. I couldn't find any good way of doing this as it is. It crops now instead of scales. Also the ability to set a max height before you export the map. It's just suggestions, so don't get upset =) [ January 18, 2003, 02:34 AM: Message edited by: hardcampa ]
  11. What I think people should understand which makes this editor AWESOME, as I wrote above =P, is that now you can finally use real satellite photos or maps and import them into the editor as coverage/altitude/you name it maps to create as close to real life landscapes as you want. This is just awesome =) And yes I accidentally made this a separate posting =O oops.. [ January 18, 2003, 01:08 AM: Message edited by: hardcampa ]
  12. I thought perhaps this movie might be of interest for people playing CMBB: Talvisota, or The Winter War, just a gem I stumbled upon the other day. Maybe of extra interest for the Finnish people here that haven't seen it. As my mother is from Finland (I am Swedish now) her father fought in this war. I still remember when he showed me a lot of medals he got from the war, when I was a kid. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00000JPH0/002-1859801-5641655?vi=glance This movie exist on DVD as well. Although I found the link above to contain some good user reviews about it. [ January 17, 2003, 01:31 AM: Message edited by: hardcampa ]
  13. Heh, to be honest with you, the above is actually true if you are a quake player (rocketjumping, strafe jumping for speed, wall hugging for speed, all which were bugs but which everyone wanted left in). But it's not true in this game =) Thank god you can't strafe your Tigers for speed.
  14. I understand the other tank was closer. But then again it wasn't daytime or anything so here it comes, from the old post: Just the other day I was reading an account of a Sherman tank whose commander told the gunner "Target tank, 800 yards, open fire!" So he did. The shell sailed over the target. "700 yards!" shouted the commander. That shell flew overhead as well. "600 yards!" again, overshot. "500! JESUS!!" Overshot again. Finally they hit the German tank at something like 350 yards. The German tank was not moving during the whole affair - it was simply a gross misjudgement of the range. This factor alone is enough to keep hit probabilities a lot lower than you suggest. =) [ January 15, 2003, 10:53 AM: Message edited by: hardcampa ]
  15. Nice Murph. A question though, wouldn't you like to create an AAR where you meet a person instead of the AI? If you feel up for it. Fight me in a PBEM =) where we at the end give each others passwords to each other so we can watch and discuss the tactics. Only if you want/have time/dare to of-course.
  16. Just my ramblings. I don't see any point at all with moving away from WW2 if the engine is going to be a total rewrite. Opinions about an engine we don't know anything about is impossible. If the engine got per-pixel lightning (which I think we'll see almost every game use in 2 years from now), the quality of the models/shadows and light calculations will be totally lifelike. This alone will make a big impact on everything within the game if you use it to enhance reality. Like spotting the flashes of explosions from far away etc. Using the rising sun to your advantage isn't a new technique i.e. If the new engine calculates fragments flying around. Well then you got a totally new ruleset again. If this sounds too advanced to you people you should realise that the calculations I gave hints on above is being used today in games. That's nothing new, so what will 2 years from now hold... Once again, I think we can speculate but to predict and say what will be and not is ... way too hard before we hear any specifics.
  17. These articles might be old, I dunno I just noticed them anyway =) Just some nice reading for you guys. An extract: Here the Tiger began to show its stripes, with the 502nd accounting for a full 1/4 of all Russian tanks destroyed by the Germans during that offensive. This was done in spite the fact that only seven Tigers were operational at any one time. On one occasion, four Tigers came to the aid of infantry that were being overrun by two dozen T-34's (the Tigers' revenge scenario in Steel Panthers). The ensuing firefight left twelve T-34's burning on the field, with the remainder fleeing for their lives, all without the loss of a single Tiger. Engagements like this began to forge the myth of the Tiger. You can find the full articles over at: http://www.wargamer.com/cmbb/ [ January 14, 2003, 12:56 PM: Message edited by: hardcampa ]
  18. Guys.. I'm a bit confused. Can I join this tournament as a replacement or something, or is it way to late? If I can join how do I do? =/ There's just too much to read.
