  2. Well if anyone would have taken the time to actually look at their website you would have seen where the clan part comes into it.. Medal Of Honor and Battlefield 1942 are listed as games they play.Thats where the clan part comes in. [ August 27, 2003, 02:19 AM: Message edited by: Erwin Rommel ]
  3. First off those screenshots are awsome.. Second..Now that you will see dust clouds from moving vehicles..will your troops be able to spot the dust clouds from the enemy AFVs and vehicles etc..even though they cantsee the vehicle itself? Would be interesting if you could..add a little flavor to a battle and make things a little more interesting..You see the dust and know the enemy is coming..but how many are there and what equipment do they have.
  4. Here is a post to the original thread that this was posted at...with translation of what is in the pics. Original Thread And those are human remains that were found next to the pontoon [ August 07, 2003, 10:36 PM: Message edited by: Erwin Rommel ]
  5. Another movie showing soldiers standing on the back of the Sherman Tanks firing the MG at German infantry was Band Of Brothers during the scenes of fighting off a counterattack outside Carentan as the Second Armored tanks show up.
  6. Because the T28 was a multi-turret AFV and the game engine can't handle a multi-turret vehicle.
  7. Here is a little more info JEAN BLOUIN/ARMY PUBLIC AFFAIRS The Juno Beach Centre in courseulles-sur-Mer, France, will be officially opened tomorrow. Canadians stormed the beach in 1944. D-Day memorial stands tall Canadian vets make trek to Normandy Juno Beach Centre honours sacrifices LES WHITTINGTON OTTAWA BUREAU COURSEULLES-SUR-MER, France—Red and white Maple Leaf flags line the road that leads through this quiet French fishing port down to the beach where 21,000 Canadians fought their way ashore on D-Day, 59 years ago tomorrow. For decades, the strip of sand on the Atlantic — code-named Juno Beach — where many Canadians died in the face of enemy fire in 1944 has been too little remarked. But tomorrow more than 700 of Canada's veterans and thousands of French residents will join Prime Minister Jean Chrétien for the official opening of a long-awaited memorial in Normandy. Under leaden skies yesterday, workers were urgently laying out rows of wooden benches for the ceremony and putting the final touches on the new Juno Beach Centre in preparation for the veterans' arrival. Built at a cost of $10.1 million, the centre is an abstract, jutting metal and glass structure in the configuration of a Maple Leaf overlooking the invasion beach. In front of it stands a stark, 2.4-metre high bronze sculpture entitled Remembrance and Renewal. "This is for all Europe to see and remind them that we, as volunteers, came here to help restore their freedom," said Ted Davie, a director of the Juno Beach Centre Association and the man in charge of tomorrow's event. "And this is for our people, when they come to France now, to have a focal point and to be sure that the people of Canada will not forget what they did." But the 1,350-square-foot centre is not just a monument to one battle. It has been designed as a living testimony to the sacrifices made by all Canadians — on the battlefront and the home front — during World War II. The exhibits contained in the centre include displays on life in Canada in the 1930s and the rapid changes faced by Canadians in the early years of the war, as well as accounts of the main Canadian military campaigns in Europe. There is also a short film on the Canadian D-Day landing at Juno Beach. "We wanted to build a centre here with the idea of remembering the army, navy, air force, merchant navy and the home front ... for all six years of our involvement in the war," said Davie, a retired navy veteran who lives near Kingston. "The veterans have waited 59 years for people to recognize what they did in World War II and not enough has been done up until now." CBC Newsworld will broadcast live coverage of the centre's opening tomorrow, beginning at 11 a.m. Toronto time.
  8. Just for show.As far as I know the game engine can not handle it. [ June 04, 2003, 11:57 PM: Message edited by: Erwin Rommel ]
  9. I feel that the ID'ing of units should also be based around the skill of the troops doing the ID'ing of the vehicle.Green or Conscripts most likely would not be able to ID a contact easily.Where as a Veteren or so group would be able to ID better. This may already be implemented in the game. The sound part is no problem in my opinion. The following are just my opinion from being at some WW2 reenactments in my area. When the battle is raging around you.Good commander or not you are not going to be able to pick out that one individual vehicles sound over all the other sounds of the battle. You are going to have all the MGs and small arms fire,Most likely any of your supporting tanks will be moving and firing and maybe even artillery falling. In my opinion CMBB has you hearing more than you normally should be able to in real life.
  10. Ok just got the drivers and tried them out..Yes the game runs smoothly again with the new 44.03 drivers. However When I hit the icon to start the game it gave me a black screen..All sound and stuff was playing but just a black screen showing.I had to hit Alt+Tab to get the opening screen to show. Then I went to choose a scenario. All good so far.Went into the setup phase..Wow the game runs smoothly again..Now the problems occur. After hitting the GO button it just sat there and did nothing.I had to hit Alt+Tab again to get it to fo to the next screen..Set up the next side..Again I had to Alt+Tab to go to next screen.Ok now I test the orders phase.I give the orders and hit GO..Once again I have to hit Alt+Tab to get the next screen to show.Give orders to other side and again Alt=Tab to get the next screen to show. So everything runs smooth but I had to hit Alt+Tab every time after I hit the GO button. So graphical problems are still there. At least for me.Back to the 30.82's I go. I run Win XP Home Ge-Force 4 Ti 4200 128MB card P4 1.8 Ghz 768 MB memory
  11. A dual boot will work..As I am running one now.I have 2 80 GB hard drives and one is running WinXP and the other is running Win ME and both are running different driver versions.
  12. @ 88mm "Why not a campaingmode with a REEL Barbarossa to Berlin tour " The games engine cannot handle that sort of campaign. " Ai > bad. When i order a vehicle to travel from point A to B it goes as much folllow that straight line, aldo 2 mtrs. away lays a shiny road which is totally ignored" You have to manually order the tank with waypoints to go to the road and follow it.Which is just a couple of mouse clicks..No need for a special button to do this. "Futhermore, when setting a waypoint to go, it shoes a straight line. When set, it still is a straight line. Next turn you check the unit (if at all) to notice it's route is changed into a "complex of waypoints" just because there lies a "tree or wall" in the way." This is because the AI does not calculate any action until the GO button is hit.Only then will it calculate where the waypoints need to go to get around wooded areas or what have you to get from point A to point B.Again all you need is a couple of mouse clicks to set the vehicles waypoints manually to get around objects you should know the unit cannot go through.Again no changes needed here. "1) Ton's of steel riding straigt OVER and through the other objects 2) If it isn't for the moving tracks and contact of wheel or you would have a 100% feeling that things slide/hover over the battefield instead of "drivin" 3) Where are the tracks that tanks leave behind ? 4) And where's the dust/clouds they produce when travelling ?" 1)The manual explains this subject..What you are seeing is just an abstract view of the true battlefield the game uses for calculations. So what you see is not nessacarily what is truly going on.For example the 3 men in a unit that you see are actually representing 12 men or so and they may be spread around and not in the exact spot that you are seeing. 2)Pure eye candy and not really needed in my opinion 3)Again pure eye candy that is not needed. 4)This will be implemented in the new CMAK game.

  16. OMG!!!I never even knew that tank was even designed..Let alone built.HOLY COW!!!Still like the article of it firing all its guns and the recoil tipping it over into a ditch.
  17. Wrote my review for it...now to see if it is put up.
  18. Only the winter scenarios will have the winter camo..all others will have the summer version camo
  19. Thats what I am begging to wonder..is it maybe just a freak occurance that happens.I'm not saying it isn't a bug just it has not happened to me during the game. This is just a stab in the dark but I have experienced this in other games i have.Could the flaw be a particular players computer.Being the AI and most calculations in the game are run by the computer processor..could the problem be in the way the processor or what have you works the calculations of the game.Hence it may calculate wrong hence the Artillery going off target. The bug is found but it turns out to be in the way the game and the computer systems calculates on certain processors etc..Which may explain why some have it happen and others like myself and WWB_99 etc..have not had it occur. [ April 22, 2003, 04:39 PM: Message edited by: Erwin Rommel ]
  20. I'll agree with wwb_99...No matter what I do I to cannot recreate this "bug" either..All my tries the artillery lands either 98% of the time right on target and the other 2% off by maybe a couple meters at most, but still not enough to do a readjustment..thats with 15 tries and having a good LOS to the target area. Im no expert in this feild but this is just how the game works for me.I have never had the problem occur.
  21. "I have done a lot of tests where it was found that the axis had a clear advantage with your T-34 vs. captured T-34. There were over 400 tests (in the open on a flat surface at different ranges) done to determine this. (Better ammo, I think it was decided.) Sorry, that really isn't even at all." I found this on a page on Soviet comparisons of tanks "Many people attempt to explain the superiority of one tank over another by placing them in some kind of 'ideal conditions', that is, those conditions in which these tanks never fought and will never fight. For example, on a level playing field, like knights on a jousting field. If tanks were tested in this manner, then mobility, reliability, and cross-country performance would not be needed! Why bother? Make the armor thicker and the cannon more powerful and success will be ensured! Why do the engineers of all countries test new vehicles in field trials? Why are the reliability of individual components and the tank as a whole subjected to such intense scrutiny? In addition, the overwhelming majority forget that some vehicles were created in general not for combating other tanks but, shall we say, for storming of fortifications, or supporting friendly infantry. " I tend to agree with this quote on testing on flat open terrain.I try to use actual conditions to test vehicles. [ April 21, 2003, 10:37 PM: Message edited by: Erwin Rommel ]
