  1. Those Vets have options or had them. If they could handle walking around cripple or mentally unstable.. The US Government gives an average Cripple Vet about 800-900 bucks if he made a medium low rank. Hehhehehe, so your 600 tax return is about equal to his monthly income. Considering an apartment cost 500 for a box, 250 with utilities, our vets would rather get drunk than starve I think they're not happy... Of course you can live with another one... It could be worse, it could be North Korea or Russia. Those places, Pensions? Only if you sell your children Regardless, we will not stop buying Color TVs and Russians will not stop selling their children. And Americans for the time being will continue to gip of poor people and cater to those who make between 45k-120k so they stay nice as they're the #1 voter polls while the rest under that are on Crack and don't care about the countries problems collecting SSI or Welfare. The ones richer are drawing the policies its a dog eat dog world Guess I should do what every other dishonest American did at one time, become a thief it pays, then go legit... without an education you mine as well... that or join the army, sit are your arse and drink every weekend and sleep with pretty damsels who like men in Uniform What Happened to America? Oh, I want a FlatScreen LCD Panel, .18 dotpitch Super TV and HiDef input Surround Sound Dolby SuperSystem That's what happened
  2. It's an 'okay' investment if it hits. Though the Germans cannot afford it... The chance of not hitting the IT is too expensive I'll put a spare chit in after I've got my Minors down but in a competitive game your dead, the MPPs could go better elsewhere, Diplo-Tech-a new Panzer
  3. Uhhh, what 600 bucks? Bush, isn't going to give me a new check for that much, this is Mutiny. I've reverted to shoplifting! Yes, I cannot pay my bills so I'm hiking up everyone's prices by the FIVE finger discount. I feel it's not unwarranted, today the store I shoplifted from sold me Botulism Carrots! Yep, the FDA says they're infected with Botulism and to do away with them. SO the next time you goto to your SuperMarket read the News before you go and help yourself. They told me they have to hike up their prices due to five fingered discounts. Yeah right, I heard by the Security Staff they hike up their prices so the Honest Shoppers that come before you pay for the dishonest one behind you! ROFL I'm sorry but when your hardup, you're hardup
  4. Hexagons are neat looking always were. A little over used over the past 15-16 years of PBEM gaming. I think Tiles are in a way a nice refreshing additive. Civilization uses Tiles and its most popular Empire Building game that ever was created. So it's neither here or there, Territories-Hexes-Tiles...It's how good the game is
  5. There are a lot of assumptions here. It's the fact it's a war game that makes it a bit different. Personally if I was Germany I would have stayed close to Stalin as long as possible. Friendly in fact! That meant that all of Europe was mine permanently, and eventually the USSR would have been the only opposition at all. The British would have had to eventually deal... It was just a matter of time. Though historically Hitler was greedy, and believed that there was some Divine reason to create a larger homeland out of the USSR. This we now know was called Liebenstraum and was the ultimate doom of the Third Reich. That and it's intolerance and lack of hindsight. Freeing France up, creating a a Puppet Balkan Regime and Milking Scandanavia of all of it's metals would've been on my agenda. That and World Trade... A massive Navy to force the British into understand who was boss and the whole world would now be ruled by partitional powers. Though the Germans were greedy, intolerant, and had a nack for trying to push the envelope, so now we have had the Russians/Americans/Chinese and few other world Powers. Maybe the EU, where many of these warring states use to exist now are 1 P.S. No doubt Sea Lion is a tough endeavor, so is Barbarossa. I think the Axis had a better chance vs the Land opponent and not only but England was no immediate threat in '40, not for a few years at least
  6. I got into this discussion on another forum, was in invasion of England possible. I think that this may ring true in 1940 the Kriegsmarine was nearly non-existent in comparison with the Royal Navy. The only thing the Germans really had in massive transport was river barges. What was also mentioned is how direly the Germans needed these barges for Industry. The RAF was never beaten, they could've redeployed their Fighters further inland if needed. The amount of time it would take to unload river barges onto English soil means cost was well beyond the value of England. Certainly it's possible, but Hitler was actually right about this particular Operation. Most German Generals were against crossing the Channel. It is unlikely that a Sea Lion could've succeeded in 1940, the British didn't need an Army, they had the RAF and the Royal Navy. It was the threat that counted. The Germans won some exceptional Victories. If you haven't noticed something about Germans they're very precise. Very hard coded work ethic. Something that some of the other nations lack, like Americans, British, Russian. Though Each of these nations have their own abilities. Americans are industrious or were, and gifted with Raw materials. British Naval Masters... Russians, willing to sacrifice everyone to win...
  7. Quality with Experience Scook, so Leeb with 3 bars is a 9. You can always delegate your weaker HQs to weaker jobs and delegate your good Generals to better jobs.

  9. No, actually XP... I think a fresh install of SC2 might fix the problem? Though every time now I try to run sc2, it crashes, same memory error.. I can load without 3-d units... I recently installed a Windows Media Player update...
  10. I have a Dell, with an upgraded 6200 nvidia pcibus video card 128meg I have been having issues with SC2 ever since I put it in... a year ago I get some fuzzy graphics on SC2 when I load up sometimes, when I alt-tab it fixes it. Lately I have been getting unit icons that are all scratched out and recently when I tried to load it gave me an error with the 3-d icons, something about memory. Never seen such an error and booted me from the game. The Driver is up to date. Any clue what this might be?
  11. with all the things being said the Russians incrementally go up in readiness per turn after a certain date, that's in 1941 and react to the DOW on certain nations. Not just Yugoslavia, anything that is considered in the Russian Sphere of Influence. The only way to counter it is to not DOW, not infuriate and buy DiploChits, Yes, but in the end you will have to fight Stalin
  12. Right Click on the unit, it will have an the values listed for it. There is no difference between a German or a Russian tank in SC... You may have noticed though 25% blitzkrieg attack when a unit is adjacent... Readiness/Morale modifier... Experience Modifier... and the random factor which terrain and entrenchment has it's own factors as well which it outlined in the book... Mountains/Forts/Fortresses being the best on down...
  13. Hmmm, seems your asking some elementary questions, all these are in the book. The game all follows a very very linear system. To play you should get down pat the basics by just ignoring the rules and losing units, playing the AI you will get the feel for everything you asked after about 5 games plus you will get the fun of it. I will say this, every object on the map that is a city/resource/port/fort will automatically repair per turn unless special situations as there are limits and partisans that disrupt this. Also that Supply 5 is the bottom rung of which you will ever want your Troops and Ports-Cities collect supply and HQ increases it... Making the two invaluable... Good luck and play around with but the book explains it to the Tee and winging gives you a feel that will break it down so when you do ask you will understand better.
  14. Foko, yes, that was a possible route. However, the RN was an arm's stretch back to home base... The Baltic, Middle Baltic at least isn't that far away from England. 1 or 2 Spotter Cruisers and that's that, an entire Sea Lion Invasion force will be repulsed... Not only, but in SC2 with 4 amphib range and my 2 JumpBoots sitting in Sweden, Sea Lion isn't all that practical. he could likely smack my port of entry, lock down my troops, ship in the Americans and end the game. Meanwhile even if succeeding the Russians would be in Egypt-Turkey-Finland...and Romania... Eventually Berlin This Is Terif, not an average player, you cannot simply second guess a move like Sea Lion, in 2 turns every unit In Norway can be in England, it'd take 3 or 4 turns to conquor England, ALSO... though a good deterrent against him moving onward with his offensives, Terif knows England can extract lots of teeth as I mentioned above and would likely sacrifice England for a Victory... SO either way is a no win situation. The only workable route here is 5-6 more corps, 3-4 more armies in Sweden. Instead of a measley detachment Army... Never go in half cocked into a big bad duel... ::smiles:: Marty, I like ole Jack's Laid back sort of demeanor. He doesn't waste cash much, Terif must be an Investor Every MPP counts Axis had 50 Units being built I think every unit but a Bomber and a tank.. Fluid movement makes Cash flow Bigger, indecisive Operating and confused tactics cost MPPs
  15. If it were IP it would be worth it, I am usually on-line 10pm EST to 2AM EST lately. That is the latest usually lately... maybe a little later, which is simply put minus 3 hours, 7pm to 11pm your time I wouldn't mind IP it's some months since I tried that... We always end up in '44 though or '45 fighting for the last piece of bread. heh...
  16. I have to admit Rambo you have the aggressive tactics to take a Sea Lion and make it work. I remember that SC1 game AAR, and you both decided on keeping it quiet. I never take the field in SC1 as you did vs Terif or many others. Not like you... That is a fine quality with some good fundamentals along with it... Although I think I have surpassed you in the chess match you will win the shorter wars with me. So as far as I can say by Record we're Probably Brother to Brother for USA Players. You will have a VERY hard time beating me right now as our last game was, your retirement? Many Players have quit SC2 after playing me but I yearn for more punishment usually
  17. Yes, the latter game was one of my more interesting games with Terif. He employed a great deal of decoy after my Blitz of Sweden. I was cut in two directions, to evacuate German troops from Sweden or press forward with them. He had well concealed the fact that the entire British Army was in Norway and there was nothing I was going to do until it was pretty late, and with bombing Stockholm-Port I was sort of trapped into a poor mission. If I had reinforced Sweden with proper land forces anticipating that he may move on Sweden I may have conquored Norway and this game would've been EXTREMELY close for "me"... not for "him" perhaps. The Allied Bombers won the day, along with some luck... I really really underestimated the fact that you cannot just run through mountains as you do through plains and that the UK can be "beefy" if she's quiet and you should be cautious not to underestimate her even as early as Summer of '41 Axis though outfitted never had position to force the hand of the Allies, neither did they have any way of busting the massive forts that the Soviet had now erected so about the only hope was a Flash in the Pan... Plus throwing my navy on the bayonet of the Combined UK/US Atlantic Fleet made no sense... but that was of little consequence, Navies don't win in SC2-Vanilla they compliment and create havoc is all. Air is quite supreme and Naval support is helpful... That's a lesson I have been needing to learn in my other games I split up my forces and I lost my timetables or got distracted in sideshows. Each side in SC2 must lay down the foundation of a Strong Power from every motion they make, every tradeoff if it must be, must be accounted for. In the End SC2 is nothing more than a series of little battles... Some of my best games vs Terif are where I force myself to keep my troops clumped and well outfitted with combined arms to do various types of jobs! You mustn't ever oversee a possible mistake or a possible oversight of an opportunity! Well, next time I at least have gotten the rythm of pre-Barby down, now I need a good Knock-Out blow to the Reds. Soon My Little Green Friend
  18. Too bad I couldn't get you into Europa Universalis II when it was a hot title Terif... Very very deep diplomatic-warfare-trade, but major wargame. Took years and 2 releases to perfect... It is based on 1400-1820 and had a lot of the features of SC2... Flexability, depth, speed, although very very long games with RTS style play. HOI is modeled after it.. It is very very unique to have 8 Major Nations all human controlled all making independent decisions, all etching special tactics, over months and months... Things happen that are just impossible in turn based games... The only shortcoming I have with SC2 is speed and 2 player... They released Europa Unversalis III, was not as good as II.. Really hard to Trump a Great Title... Some things are too perfect to improve upon.
  19. Terif rarely lies, as I have noticed, but he may omit a few things here or there. Truth be told, the SC2 vanilla may not have all the whistles and bells, but he may prefer the more streamlined perfection of it. Afterall once you learn it's intricacies it's not so easy to adapt to an entirely new platform. There may very well be a lot of room to keep SC-WAW open as far as strategic and tactical decisions. Though it may require some alternations and editing in order to remove certian features and to add in others. Also you must remeber there is no "top dog." No Artisan of the Tactical Genius yet to immerge from WAW. SO if some people who are great at it, and are learning some truly inspiring strategies start posting Screenies, and indepth AARs it may bring others, including Terif to adore it and see the Light, that he must adapt to the New Age of our little Baby Strategic Command. I personally have never been the student of this game that Terif is, I have am a 6th grader. Though he really has a very fluid movement in game, and he really sees the bigger picture. It may require that some units be except from WAW, it may require some alterations to scripts... but WAW may indeed with some patching, and some "great Players," become the Standard. I do not rule it out, I think that SC2 varies form SC1 but remains a bit similar to it.. just a lot more evolved. Though WAW is the edge that heads a lot more to a tactical wargame. Not that it cannot be fun or adapted for more Strategic Play, especially with it's cosmetic Map...
  20. Terif has an artform of the shortest path to a destination, doesn't leave much room to breath. That is why a player must quickly adapt to his strategies and tactics or face doom overnight, I could take him into 1945 in a lot of games, but that's because my strategy was too snailish and inevitably he's waiting like on these screenshots for the moment when the the supply and offense favors him. Be nice if Russians had a WinterStrike Option on their units particularly here, as I couldn't make him pay across that bloody Don!
  21. I'm still personally learning new offensives/strategies/arts in SC2 Vanilla SeaMonkey. I'd be more than happy to embrace the WAW package and the new Strategies, though I play more than SC so my energies are usually mixed up. It gets boring to wear out one title, and I'm glad that there is new and interesting tactics that await I can dive into at a later date. WAW will take another year or two to refine, as I haven't lost a SC2 vanilla game since Taojah's vaulted AirDrop on Berlin.. in a year except against the ChessMaster, I'd like to see the community rise much above my head so I can get headcracked by everyone
  22. yes, all the same places the Russians use, reverse it, some more advantageous than others. The real trick is timing, I think '40 is much too soon, Axis need to dig-in, entrench, build forts... Though to what ends? In truth if you cannot kill the USSR or the UK then the game will likely end... So ultimately the whole game is decided on how well you manage pesky partisans, supply, winter and your conquest of the USSR as the Axis SO why Defensive, unless your strategy is somewhere else
  23. Perhaps the only Victories for the Allies this particular game were at Sea, though at a massive cost, unprepared to launch a D-day and uncoordinated with Mr. Stalin this was a doomed Game indeed. 1 to 6 is very very dreadful, though Terif also took objectives with post haste all over Europe, France in '39, The Dontez at the very beginning of Barbarossa. On top of it, the Axis cleverly deployed their Navy to draw out my only real Ace in the hole, and that was that. I had to have free shipping lanes, distraction or not... And I never suspected that the Axis Navy would do anything but Screen their U-boats, losing the 2nd American HQ was bloody. Especially in US Ports!!! It is very difficult to trump a player who is constantly pushing his bishop right over your King, you must be looking sideways, rearways, and every which other way that is a possible exploit with Terif he's a Mastery over the SC2 Chessboard and I think we are both opting to stay out of the WAW scene for now until we've fully Mastered the capability of SC2-Vanilla... After the Opening of Barbarossa went so gleefully and I tried to send 6 tanks-2-3 armies-5-10 corps across a Frozen Don, the game was decided right then and there. You have to pick your battles and I must assuredly did not pick the right one, even out fuel, supplies and ammunition the Axis could hold and that's all they needed, I was praying for another turn of Winter and then I was going to run but Mud sunk in and so did Axis Supply.. Very interesting game
  24. Yeah I know, but those were Slovaks. I got a bank here named the Bank of Slovak, Pa has a lot of that Mixed Eastern European Stock. The USA is contrary to Axis Propaganda never been stronger. In the exchanges at sea, the American NavyMen are ferried back to Friendly waters while the Axis at supply 1 and 2 are eaten by our Shark Infested Coastal Waters. The few fires that are set ablaze are quickly rendered ineffective, as the natural Rains this time of the year quell them and brave Yankee FireFighters! "I'm a YankeeDoodleDandy!" Is sung throughout the Eastern Seaboard, down with National Socialism , one day they vow it will be a minority party in obscure European Nations!!!! Regardless the Allies finally put full force into Normandy, US and UK troops are now seen on the scene and the first German Corps dies on French soil! Fire is about to reign down, Northern Russia and her Urals are still firmly Stalinist! More Germans soldiers will have to die in this titanic struggle, and regardless of what the outcome may be, we expect the price of war so great they will never be as powerful again. A-Bombs will do them in one day on B-29s!!! Level EUROPE! If we cannot take the cake! Long Live USA, those Veneto Vittorios are nothing but floating turds!
  25. Yes, a Bloody Summer Defensive for the Russians, The Entire Russian Army with Vatutin escapes the Neck of the Soviet Union, but with the fall of Moscow and Stalingrad the Head of the once Great Soviet Republic is doubt. Stalin flees to the Urals with the remains of his tattered Army in hopes to fight again another Day... The War in Russia is over, end factor, the USSR could not establish a defensive front nor counter attack across the Don even with superior #s and supply. The Germans used the Russians own Terrain against them. 75% of the Russian Military is destroyed, but the economy remains functioning for now, now it's up to the West... The Massive Axis Taskforce is quickly dispatched off New York, New York. An Italian Ship is sunk and contact is made with another German Battleship, soon the entire Axis Navy will meet it's doom or run and hide... Churchill has vowed for revenge in France, Now the long awaited Day has Arrived, quarter of a Million Brits land in France, and behind them is another Million Allied Soldiers. D-Day is upon us 1942! The Axis sit in their trenches hiding behind barbedwire and bombshelters, afraid to meet the uncoming Juggernaut
