  1. Hey, i am all in for a change. The current situation is completely off-balanced. It is just silly to see a player in the top ten who never wins a game. And that's just one example. So i did some thinking too and thought about something much like your idea; A league; like football with different divisions. Premiere League: 18 players 1st division: 18 players Runners-up division: the rest/newbies Win = 3 p Draw= 1 p Lose= 0 p To keep things in a certain time-table, players play only 1 time to each other player in the same league. that is; the first two leagues... So each player in those league plays 17 battles. Four players at the bottom of the "Premiere League" play a shoot-out against the four best of the 1st division. Since these are important battles , i propose a "home/away" match or playing both sides against eachother. the winners goes/stays in the "premier league" , the losers stay/goes to the first division. Four players of the first division, combats against the four best of the rest ....(runners up). Something like this. Aldo i see the difficulty with this concept, since most of the players are not even close to play these amount of games....
  2. Lose Favor? Retreat ? this you call realistic ???? Hitler would have let me shot, within a week ! Let me see, last battle i took 415 prisoners, killed 133 enemies and lost 13 myself. Yet i loose experience  no my friend, the difficulty is too high. You can't expect 5 battles with near to none losses on your side....atleast not if you want those objectives, and the Fuhrer demands nothing less... Besides, i am playing at "regular", for crying out loud. Don't even wanna think how things are with "expert" settings  fire and manoevre ??? with what? The infantry, aldo fit gets tired after 100 metres already, totaly fatigued after 200. How to manoevre unseen in a open, no forest roral map ???? Besises that, 1 or two men replacements should not have a great effect on a squad. There's enough experience around those one or two to learn quick.... Keep in mind that exactly the best divisions Germany were the ones who engaded in the toughest battles (ss-div. mostly). Surely they recieved their end of the losses, and yet they still were lean mean fighting machines. 1) They were best equiped 2) They were extremely good re-inforced and re-suppied. 3) The men serving the SS were hand-picked.... anyway, if the only way to succeed is to not succeed and play hide and seek my interest in this campaing-type looses it attraction rappidly.... and then this: When you want to "blitz" there isn't much time to sneak you're way to the enemy. Also you cannot afford to not take that objective when you're in the middle of a stragetic campaign to encircle large groups of russians (div/army) like we have seen in WWII. Not to take that flag would be the same as a total failure to encircle and trap those forces. ps: foxholes? What are you babling about? I fought 3 Assualts, 1 immediatly and one meeting sofar. Foxholes are useless when you're advancing, isn't it ? (you can take over one from the enemy do ). I am on my way to Moskou, not sitting on my butt  Besides; where are my Stuka's? At this stage of the war you should get them almost for free, they were all over the battlefield. But no, no plane in the sky, oww well, yes there was. A russian  one, taking out 5 SPw251/1 and one 20mmQuad with SPW-7 truck .... (battle 3) Weird, must have been one of the last survivors of the german airfleet masaca they pounded on the russian airfleet in the first 2 days.... 3. Scarhead: Thks for the info. you're right, a saved game won't do. Campaign Report: Status: After one fierce week of fighting the russian have a hard time to fill the gaps our forces make, mein fuhrer. At 4 of the 5 major conflicts we made heavy casualties on the foe, one fight however was a bitter disaster for our men where we only achieved a draw. 1) Using Biltaid to do the math 2) Player skill = regular 3) custom army group (forget that you can select mech and then the Inf. Co with the same troops) consist of a Inf. Co 41' (structure with 4x squads + 50mm mortar (x3) and NO HMG's). platoon of Pz IIIg's (4x tanks; like this better then the 3 tank/mix which are all singles) However; despite my superior forces and 4 total victories my troops are not getting significantly better, in other words; they suck  Of the 23 units i posses 11 units are degraded to "green". The other 12 remain "regular" for the moment. WTF. is wrong. Am i that bad ? Are the rules too tight ? This isn't fun at all. After a week fierce fighting you should expect to see the first veteran's on the battlefield. Oke, about 4 green units should be fine; i lost one squad (wiped out) and all my mortar units. But the rest of my forces never made heavy dammage, the Squads almost never below 7. Only my Tanks-crews stay regular and i hope become better. for my infantry i fear the worst. By the time the winter sets in, they should be conscripts as this goes on Another thing, according to the guide you cannot buy tanks for your Attached units. When Biltaid however offers you to buy/fill in the specs of a attached unit you can choose all types of tanks, only NOT the 37mm FLAK (support unit=allowed) to choose for (no gun-option box).
  4. Cannot use your solution, the maps do not load. However, can't i make the QB with random map and during the setup save it, load it into the editor and adjust the exp. Save it and load the scen and begin battle ?
  5. Let's forget the "report games" then. If it's no use and most are satisfied with the current situation. Any comments on Spookies score-table ?
  6. This seems a good mechanism. You have my vote. Another thing, how do i make people clear to report games that they commit. By that, i mean games that are just starting. Have made a "topic" of it, noted different people but noone seems to bother
  7. Important Only those players that have accepted a battle, should report here. when one of you is missing the other player here's the place to reconnect Simply post a message for the other, if needed with a email-adress or IRC-number We expect that you keep an eye on this thread, even more when you cannot find your opponent And as last option, contact the ladder-master: cyberon@lycos.nl Example: Player "goodguy" Allies vs. Player "Badguy" Axis.
  8. Ow boy, i am a idiot Biltaid is right here, under my nose. I even got it working, first time round. Didn't have a clue what to do with it, not read the doc... The *.xls stuff was overruling my mind. No more questions, yet One thing do. Would it be nicer when the task-forces are pre-build from scratch ? It's a pain in the ass the start a dummy-QB each time, write down the types ...blablabla Would be so much easier just to ; Build roemenian comb-arms 1x platoon blabla 2x 37mm AT 2 x flak etc.etc. option 2; Build roemanian inf (another package) In real time the germans didn't ask that either, do they? They just send in a request i believe, we need support
  9. Could be, not even used biltaid yet... My complaint is that you have to do all the mathematics yourself. You go from note* to Note* to find the right figures, if finding them at all (too much info, too much spread, impossible to understand it all at once). Ins't this a Xls, spreadsheet ? the way it is used, it could just as easily been a Word document. Why is Excel not used like it should be used; doing math. 1) No more + this and - that 2) No more go to note* and read appendix* 3) fill in the numbers and the results are shown immediately. I would consider this a missed oppertunity, and i believe that many people who use these forms implement them in their own way. Futher observation; Why do you have to roll the dice for the firts battle concerning; a) casualties fitnes After months of preparation, shouldn't the Compagnies be fullsized, well fed and fresh ? And were is the experience-gain left from spain/polen/Denmark/Norway,Low-countries/France/Yoegaslavia/Greece ? Surely they should have some Veterans by now.
  10. Edwin P Wow, what a details. I am amazed. Do you fight with expert-settings? And the experience, is it +1,+2,+3 or default ? It's suddenly a trilling game, with all that allied activity Night Ow well, it was not so hard. I see you played against a Expert Ai, do you use FOW also ? I tried it with default settings, and all vissible. Going to try it the "hard way" too. I am using the 1.06v btw, makes that any difference? And Polen surrendered, on turn 5 or 6. Instead of not going after the polish units, the germans did, aldo i was 4 hexes away with the airfleet, and 3 hexes with a inf unit. Very weird. Futher, i attacked on turn 3, not 2. Battle-report Howw, this ain't workin for me with 1.06 i guess. Setting/expert +2 Axis exp. turn 1 > invaded germany, still warsaw falls at turn 2 and counter-attack cost france 1 army. From then on, france/england are in defence, polen falls *(turn 5 or 6), aldo there are 2 corpsed str 9 and 8 and a airfleet (str4) in the background. may 40, germany declares war at the LC, tried to hold it. But lost it 3 turns later.. Now, okt 1940, france only have left 2 corpses and a HQ, paris is falling soon.... Is the differnce that great between 1.07beta and 1.06  [ May 06, 2003, 10:07 AM: Message edited by: 88mm ]
  11. Good.... almost there One major problem: due to my buggy? video-card drivers (8500radeon pro /catalist 3.2 Ati) i cannot alt-tab during gameplay. Well, actually alt-tab works fine, i can see my desktop clearly. But when i return to the game the screen is/stays black. Hear the sound, see my mouse and he moves too, but a black screen and nothing i can do about it and i am lucky with the dice, not only i may chosse a "rare" unit (whatever that is) since i had lucky numbers with the arty-table. I also am lucky with the rare/unique items diceroll. So that means i can buy whatever i want to my likings i guess update Finally played my first battle, with all that artillery power i thought it would be a piece of cake. Boy, was i wrong. bought myself a extra platoon of recon troops, along with 2x 81mm mortars, 1x 75mm spotter and a sweet 170mm spotter. then 3x Sig33, 2x flak 6/2 and a PZ IVc to complete my Task force. Along with my main battle group (core) this looks good on the field. USSr: Sov, inf, low quality, low on ammo (40%) and 50% casualty penaltie. This must be a piece of cake, for sure. First contact: trenches, barb wires and some Sov. rec. troops... easy enough. Then: (turn 12 already) al my troops in place and 170mm nearly finished. This is it, chargeeee. My 81mm shells flying over my men's heads, pounding the poor Sov. in the woods. The Sig's firing like maddogs, making use blast and do havoc on the sovs...i think. My tank firing support-shells to pinn the sovs. And one by one my men go down, crawl, die, retreat and going crazy. WTF! so , i charged the remnats of my armor (turn 18) forward to capture a flag. They did, 4 arrived. My troops lay in havoc, 300 metres away... those idiots. Then one by one my armor is taken out by sovs inf assault (molotovs?). Sigh, what a glory Our great "barbarossa" action report: we made 121 casualties, killed 30 of them, detroyed no armor/vehicles (there weren't any) and knocked out 3 mortars. Ow well, lose a battle, win the war right? right
  12. Almost that's the "battle" setup, i figured that out myself. It's the PRE-Quick battle where you monitor your Task-force equipment where i am confused about. So i simply used 1250 points there too and let the PC auto-generate the troops. So i should count the numbers and the types of the troops: 40 x inf '41 Squads, 18x Recon 41 squads, 18 x 50mm mortar etc.etc. (diced only inf. ) Have i done this oke? Or should i use another number (purchase points). Pre-Quick Baltle ???? Main Quick battle: 1250= main battle points so that's 653 for my main group which leaves me 600 for the Task force.
  13. Thks, got it I am 5 hours underway now, still have to begin my pre-setup Trying to make a workin formula that auto-calc. the purchase p, and my excel knowledge = less then 5% sofar i have the formule =E43*1/1.72 but i like to choose the variables in a cel that auto-links to the formule and come up with the right amount so i am not there yet. One question yet : Do i use the total "provisional Force Size" to assemble my "task force" or only the sub-totals from it  i have trown 1803 all together (with the 653 Main Battle Points). with the formule i get 1055, so i can buy up to 1250, right ? Is this also the number in the TF-setup ? ow, and more thing: AAAAAAARRRRGGGGHHhhhhhhhh (that clears my mind) [ May 06, 2003, 02:23 AM: Message edited by: 88mm ]
  14. i can understand the first line. But where does the "generated task force" from QB 1 come into practice at QB-2 (the real thing) ps: after 2 hours and finally reading the addional notes of his guide  i finally understand why and how to use the pre-quick battle. Surely this would have been made more obvious in the beginning of the guide.... So, i only use the points generated for the units and sum this up for the making of the taks force (without the 653, this seems to be your main battle group points). Then i have to record this (by pen ?). Funny there's no Task-force sheet, so you supposed to write it down every battle ? arty (TF): i rolled 7, +2 for june = 9 , and with note 7 i get +2 for green and +3 for Assuakting (axis), right? thats 14, so it's a ten. By air i understand that i should go to 9 (arty) anyway. This extra unit, how can i select it when i have "rarity" settings set on ? Is it a TF unit, a one time and forget it the next battle unit ? Do i pay with for it with my TF-points ? [ May 06, 2003, 01:11 AM: Message edited by: 88mm ]
  15. Not necessarily. I don't have a printer either, so I do the "pencil and paper" approach on Excel. I just use the Excel file as is, keeping track of which parameters are in effect by making those cells bold (eg, if the weather is "heavy fog" I make that cell bold on the Parameters sheet). I've also added a few calculation bits to work out my Squad XP when they get replacements for casualties; just have to enter a couple of numbers and then read the cell which calculates the result. And a cell to work out from the points I have and battle type what point size of battle it should be. [/QB]
  16. Tnks for your support, i really need some. As you mentioned, i switched back and forward from the Campaign.rules sheet (2.2) and the player guide(2.2). Some things are getting clear now, aldo it's not a "easy ride". Most of this oocurs to the difficult structure that is used and the need to swapping from one note to the other. Since i like logictics, i see room for improvement. a) instead of all the notes floating all around through the sheets about the firts battle: why not make a seperate, easy step-by-step walkthrough for a first turn setup ? Futhermore it seems to jumps forward towards a next step without i even noticed that the other has ended. Example: I am well underway, writing down all the settings as stated, till i gett to the point; Start a QB , enter the settings and play... Howww!!! where's the pre-QB stayed ? surely i must have missed something. It's so easy to miss it, afterall. This brings me to another thing: A step by step process through the setup WITH! ingame pictures of it ! So my "walkthrough" would be something like this: Intro 1) Basic Principles 2) what you need and how to use (die for example) -with links where to get it 3)setup instructions Biltaid etc. 4)Start ! -initial setup --(suport)task force (AUX easier name) --(main)battle group (CORE easier name) -start pre-battle -real setup -start real battle something like that, dunno i have the order right since that''s not clear to me yet. with pictures to clear things up that would make it so much easier (and short, clear comments) Now it looks like "spaghetti" to me, with no good clues when i am ready to start a pre-battle and when to do next. Atleast, that's my experience.... ps: another thing that isn't clear for me, my basic force points = 653. Do i still need to roll the dice and add up the other things from the table of inf/vehicle/tanks etc.etc. Do i add up 5 points for every roll in this section  (since my troops are green +2 and it's a axis assault +3) And the arty table, firts battle almost always "large arty" or what  so much questions

  18. Hi, Bitrong great work you have done. This is exactly what i need, i just love the campaign approach. Keep up the good stuff Some minor comments do. It's not so easy for a noob (like me ) to start. Some things are confusing to begin and i've read your doc. 3 times before i am getting the "hang of it". Anyway, i think you can make things a little more organised. Something like: 1) install rule-set a)bitraid java. (if needed) 2) BCR Parameters.. a) (anything that's add's on this_ and so on. It now looks like a random mixture to me, dunno where to begin with. Anyway, i am downloading the latest java at the moment. Hope i can figure it all out when it's up and runnning. One question; The (CO) setting, is this you're own choice like sort of a "difficulty setting" ? . ps: A few pictures with examples and/or explations on the site would be very helpfull i think. *update: installed Java (the JRE-version top of the list at java-site) After some fiddling what i need to type, figured it out thks to one poster here... made a start biltaid.bat that works. Maybe a idea to include with the biltaid.jar ? Running XP and didn't need to setup a path or something. Only thing i changed was under configuration/java-applet the module it should use. Now i see a empty sheet. Lets see what i have to do next.... k, after i find the right sheet (camp. sheet 41) i am struggling with the random dice roll -sheet. How do you "roll the dice" here  Ow boy, i feel like a complete idiot 2) how do i "circle" things in the oncreen sheet ? 3) Do i nee a printer ? since i have not one. 20. Nuts ! ps: Great strategy ! it is june, the 15th -1941 and the BEF is 3 hexes away from Warsaw 2 German City's have collapsed at the weight of my superior Army He already op'd a Airfleet to Italy. His income is around 60 MPP , and falling. 2 airfleet are ready to be chopped, as is his last HQ Before the winter Germany shall fall, i guess  Now, i did exactly what you said and even More! a) transfered all canadians to France, all airfleets, and the med. fleet linked up with the french and North-Sea fleet to sink the germans;they did. I even managed to keep my carriers alive, all three of them + 4 battleship/cruisers. Enough i guess to finish off the Italian navy too... Only 2 corpses have hold the Italians for atleast a year, when reserves arrived (army+corps_ to relieve the stress. There are laying 4 Italian Army's and 2 corpses lying at my border and they make no ground Meanwhile i am mustering a battleforce of some french on the other side to build the pressure up at Venice. It only takes time to crush that nut too . Superb, indeed. [ May 05, 2003, 08:39 AM: Message edited by: 88mm ]
  21. Radeon 8500 Pro, with Catalist 3.2. 1024x768, 16x AF, 4x AA runs smooth, Only SP Stalingrad mission "on to the volga" is slow. But, he. with zillions of troops around that doesn't surprise me

  23. Comrade Trapp and Maximillian214, you're both out of luck. Who's to blame is hard to tell, since there's no evidence that we can look at in the "opponents finder...". Since the arrangement is done through IRc we never know the thruth, will we ? Therefor i shall leave actions behind. However, it seems that the rules aren't covering this issue completely. So i suggest that the player who accepts a ladder-game, will post it in a new topic that i will make; "SC Ladder-games in progess". When this is done, any player knows where to find their opponent and noone gets "lost". So, in the future when you can't reach your opponent, simply post a message in the "SC Ladder-games in progess""topic the reporter of the game made. I shall also announce it in a seperate post to all of us. Signed, 88mm Verdict: Comrad Trapp : Not guilty Maximillian214 : Not guilty [ May 04, 2003, 04:26 AM: Message edited by: 88mm ]
