  1. Obviously you are making sure you are number one in the Most Assinine Comment Hall of Fame...
  2. Everyone just needs to go away and breathe....go outside and catch some sun...listen to some Mahler while BBQing a thick porterhouse steak...down a few beers while listening to a ballgame on the radio.. do anything but come here.. return only when some official announcment of SCII is made as this entire forum has turning into quite an embarrassment....
  3. I nominate consistant bi-weekly turns along with variable regional weather conditions for SCII... Geez, the natives are getting restless...we need news on SCII quickly lest there be a Romper Room stampede!.... [ August 06, 2003, 05:53 PM: Message edited by: J P Wagner ]
  4. Awwww...go to your room and watch Winky Dink...but this time remember to put the plastic sheet on your TV before you start drawing on the screen!..
  5. Here you go JJ...... http://www.toontracker.com/crusader/Group.jpg http://www.toontracker.com/crusader/14crusad.jpg [ July 27, 2003, 03:15 PM: Message edited by: J P Wagner ]
  6. Out of respect for Kuniworth...I will refrain from singing "here we go 'round the Mulberry bush" in this SC2 thread....I will say that in posts regarding a pacific version of CM, there seemed to be the opinion that BATTLEFRONT was not really interested in producing pacific theater games...whether this is accurate or not remains to be seen.... 7. guilty as charged...I'll go to your room...
  8. No offense but, "here we go 'round the mulberry bush!"....need to see what direction SC2 will actually take before wondering about the map...has something been mentioned that I may have missed?
  9. I'm turn based in most of my games such as SC, Xcom, Jagged Edge...ect...it's a personal choice as I don't like to be bothered scrambling about trying to manage all aspects of a real time game..I liked EUII and thought I would like HOI. I like it more now with the patches but it still is not my number one game...EUII was much easier to manage, perhaps because of the era involved.
  10. If World In Flames ever developed a competent AI then you might have the game you were seeking...
  11. Are these new graphics much different from those that have been available on Otto's site?
  12. Since we are waxing nostalgic for board game conversions to pc, I'll throw into the ring SPI's RUSSIAN CIVIL WAR...great map and theme...from maneuvering the Reds and Whites around for control...to the Polish-Russian war..to the Czechs arriving via Siberia...to the British and American attacks, to nationalists like the Ukrainians entering the fray, there was so much going on that it made each game different and thoroughly engaging..
  13. I'm looking forward to TRENCH, a WWI strategic level game that is being produced by adanac...like Hubert and Ron, this game is also being developed by a one man operation so it may take a while..but I'll wait. [ June 25, 2003, 11:21 PM: Message edited by: J P Wagner ]
  14. I don't mind ressurrecting my old thread (and old nic) to once again support this idea... http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=18;t=000789 [ June 21, 2003, 12:07 PM: Message edited by: J P Wagner ]
  15. I really like how SC2 incorporated bi-weekly turns with variable regional weather effects!...great job Hubert, I'm glued to my pc!.. now, when is the first patch coming out!..
  16. There is an SC2 planned...no details provided by BF yet.....
  17. Here's a little review I cut from Amazon, JJ, that may jog your memory or pique your interest: BRUTE FORCE Jules Dassin's brooding, brutal drama about a prison wound to the breaking point by a sadistic captain of the guards is a classic film noir as well as one of the greatest prison films ever made. Burt Lancaster (in only his third film but already commanding the screen like a pro) is the savvy prison veteran whose clashes with Hume Cronyn (the ambitious guard with a god complex) land him first in solitary then in the claustrophobic drain pipe, a muddy, airless work detail that slowly kills every man assigned to it. With the help of his cellmate buddies and former gangland boss Charles Bickford he hatches a plan to break out, but Cronyn has his own plans for the unbreakable prisoner. Dassin's oppressive prison is thick with atmosphere: cavernous buildings and halls that echo with the footsteps of inmates and the clanking of bars, overcrowded cells that seem to close in on the men, a busy machine shop where the film's most memorable scene takes place--the ruthless assassination of a stoolie in a pounding metal press. Cinematographer William Daniels, a master of Hollywood's soft-focus glamour, creates a harsh, hard-edged look for the film, softened only by looming shadows. A sense of doom hovers over everything, culminating in an explosive finale, but the barbaric, brutish violence hangs in the air long after the film is over. 18. No prison movie list is complete without BRUTE FORCE and BIRDMAN FROM ALCATRAZ...two of Lancasters finest....
  19. I know there are two valid sides when discussing a future gaming project....some companies like to provide information about a new game every step of of the way...a good example is ADANAC...they are releasing a WWI strategic game TRENCH which I have been keeping tabs on for many months... this past week they offered a glimpse at the rules and it has whetted my appetite even further...to me, this advanced stage by stage documentation helps keep the product focused and more importantly, consumers at the ready to dole out their cash for the product....HOWEVER...I also experienced the downside of a company who released early information...a comapany in France was producing an updated, expanded edition to Microprose 4X game, Star Trek-Birth of the Federation, titled Universal Evolution..in the forums, people wondered if they had the rights, not only to the original game but to a Star Trek license as well...never the less, the company continued to provide updates and screenshots and it all looked very promising ...then, they just vanished...all I could find was a German comment about the game from 2002...with the help of BABELFISH, here is a rather humourous translation: "The homepage of the alleged successor of Birth OF the Federation, universal evolution, is already for some weeks one month down. Nobody in the German star Trek play world knows, what takes place with those. After my information the leading Modeller universal of the team the group left evolution. It gave little riot under the small Community, since few models by star a fleet COMMANDS were used for the play. Very probably the group of developers collapsed and the best solution for the boss of universal evolution was probably an outlet of the scene without any report. Sometime the voices would have to fade after universal evolution anyway. I find this situation very unfortunate, because a BOTF I would have 2 very gladly in my shelf to lie." HA HA!...well you get the gist of it...here was an anticipated product gone awry....but it is only a game so what was I going to do, jump off a bridge because the company folded?..I simply shrugged my shoulders and moved on...My point is, the need of secrecey and caution can be overplayed because it is only a game and is not that important in the overall makeup of our lives...at least it shouldn't be. By the way there are some interesting rules regarding the use of Poison Gas in Trench...check out the rules for the game: http://www.adanaccommandstudies.com/IntroTrench.html [ May 25, 2003, 11:53 AM: Message edited by: J P Wagner ]
  20. I stopped playing HOI some time ago....don't miss it, as there are too many good games to play and my time for playing them is limited.... Paradox/SF will not care that I now longer play HOI as they already have my money....I do know though that I will not purchase HOI 2 if ever such an animal comes out.....
  21. I have both games and am looking forward to CM Afrika Korps.
  22. A new release from BF has finally been announced...Combat Mission Afrika Korps....can a new SC title be forthcoming?
