  1. Agreed...I no longer post here, but I do lurk, awaiting some news of future developments... I wouldn't discount the General Forum thread as it has provided use for me such as: Galactic Civilizations Space Empires IV Gold MLB.TV...now I can watch the SF Giants here in New Jersey for $2.95 a pop Avoid MOO3 thread....ect. I avoid any thread that has the following words within: Iraq England USA France Canada Germany Embedded Why? Who? What? Where? When? Arse Well, you get the point...basically I avoid all the Political Pundit Wannabee Threads...too bad there is not a Forum filter which you could use to eliminate all the self serving drek.....
  2. If you have the means to purchase this game, then by all means do....there are some very good mods that address some of the issues you have mentioned...below is a link to a site which has many additional scenarios for you to try out.... you will not be disappointed even if you only play the standard game... http://www.ww2n.com/schq/
  3. With the word gay I mean "happy" not homosexual of course.... Therefore, based on your two statements, you are happiest when you are taking it in the ass.... thanks for sharing....
  4. Time sale: Bi-weekly turns with regional weather effects to affect movement (among other things).
  5. Just as long as the game remains turn based and not some HOI real time amalgamation.
  6. I know this topic is like deja vu as I respond in a similar fashion as in the past...but, we are all accustomed to large size unit sprites...if the unit size was smaller (as in UV) then it's possible to cover the scale and still have a decent land campaign. It is more difficult, scale wise, if the SC unit size is maintained... and remember, by unit size, I'm not reffering to Army-Division ect. but the physical size of the unit, as it is represented on the map....
  7. To get an idea of how a Pacific Theater SC game might work, you just need to check out Uncommon Valor from Matrix...though it covers one area of the Pacific theater, it still represents what type of system and scale would/could be used....
  8. No word yet....but this "Pacific" question was raised about Combat Mission over at the General Forum...there were a couple of intersting responses...perhaps all tongue in cheek regarding BF's European Theater bias? http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=9;t=006328 [ March 09, 2003, 07:54 AM: Message edited by: J P Wagner ]
  9. As I think about it, I realized that BattleFront does not have anything mentioned as being "in the works". At least, if they do, then I can't find it. Matrix Games has their "future development" products listed. I have been looking forward to their Napoleonic Strategic game, Empires in Arms, for over a year now and hopefully it will be released this summer. .400 Studios, the makers of Out of the Park 5 baseball sim, have Title Bout Boxing in development, a boxing sim that I'm waiting on. I wonder what other games BattleFront has in the works? If they do have some game designs already in motion, then perhaps they should start a new section advertising what's coming. I don't mind how long in the future it takes to see the release, of a game. I think the in development info is a good form of advertising....afterall, it worked on me for the two games I mentioned.
  10. OH NO...now we'll both be accused of being nags!!!!...
  11. JJ...Below is the link where Hubert responded to a similar question...it's not much though... hopefully something more substantial will materialize with your post.... http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=18;t=002047
  12. I don't wish to speak for anyone else, but we have our "beer and pretzels" game with SC1....I think that we now want to advance to the next level (if that's Huberts intent that is). While no one wants to see an SPI War in Europe monolith on our hands (well...maybe on that one)...we still want to see a game that presents more challenges....weather would be one component of that...
  13. Hubert? Are you back from your party spree with the SPICE GIRLS? Any thoughts about JJ's timely ressurection of the weather rules?
  14. JJ... I don't think any idea has actually "fizzled" around here. I just think that, until we know what's brewing in Hubert's head, we are sort of spinning our wheels here...it's been kinda quiet on the future development front...
  15. What needs to be addressed is that the turns should be of a weekly or bi-weekly nature and do away with these month long turns...consistent turns along with variable regional weather conditions have been preached on these boards ever since SC1 came out...let's hope these ideas get some play... http://www.battlefront.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=18;t=000789 [ February 28, 2003, 07:22 PM: Message edited by: J P Wagner ]
  16. A few points on the lack of an agressive AI... Has anyone seen a successful AI invasion of France? In all the games I have played, no matter the level, the AI continuously invades along the same Normany beach area, and I am able to simply bottle them up in the peninsula. Over a few turns, I manage to weaken them to a point that they pose no threat. Once in awhile, a single transport may probe down around southern France but it is never an actual threat. Regarding Norway...I know if I capture Oslo and do not take Bergen quickly, then the AI will move a unit into the city...that's nice to see, but if I have both cities, how about the UK invading and attempt to retake Norway? All that happens for me is a naval unit reducing the Bergen army a point or two each turn. I have also played a few games, where on purpose, I ignored the western desert front. I found that as the axis, if I'm not agressive, than the AI will completely ingore the front as well. At one point, I captured Tobruk and then just sat there. The AI would launch a probe attack or two then call it a day. Just once, I would like to see the AI launch an end around invasion on my exposed western flank. British naval units in the MED need to be more agressive too. They should not only counter what the axis do. How about a combined UK naval attack on a Italian fleet still at port? Now that would be nice to see....has anyone in fact seen that? I have yet to see the AI invade Italy/Sicily, even when I have the country lightly defended. I do not know what parameters may trigger the AI to do this, but when I have a fight on my hands in Russia, and the AI simply launches their Dieppe raids on France, I wonder what the AI needs to see in order to attack the soft underbelly. For me, the AI is still too cautious and reactionary...it needs to take the same type of gambles and risks that a human player does, though that may be difficult to program effectively...Perhaps some of you could post the type of agressive AI activity that you have seen, which I still have not...
  17. I never did like the color changes myself...when using German and Italian armies in Turkey and Persia for example, it's a constant shift of colors that soon becomes annoying...sort of reminded me of amusement park swirl art that I used to do as a kid....
  18. MacDuff, if you want a free download of the PC version of American Civil War, go here: http://www.adanaccommandstudies.com/IntroACW.html Matrix Games is coming out with a strategic level Napoleonic game later this year. [ February 14, 2003, 05:19 PM: Message edited by: J P Wagner ]
  19. It is my understanding that there will be no further patches for SC.
  20. I have been a proponent of weekly or bi weekly turns with variable regional weather conditions, for some time. I think it opens up many new design features such as what you propose.
  21. Pacific General naval combat for those Atlantic conflicts...air combat perhaps could be left for summarization...
  22. How about SC strategic moves are then scaled down to Panzer General 2 for tactical battle resolutions? A game would take awhile, but I think it would be fun!
  23. For WWI, I am waiting for this: http://www.adanaccommandstudies.com/IntroTrench.html For a Napoleonic Strategy game, I am waiting for this: http://www.matrixgames.com/Games/NapoleonicWars/features.asp SC can remain in WWII.
  24. One of my favorite old SPI war games was Fulda Gap....wouldn't mind a Nato v. Warsaw Pact game at all.....
